Loudon, Aug. 24,—A letter has been re-
ceived from Dr. Park, dated Aruwrmi, June
20, stating that Stanley and all of the En-
ropeans comprising his party were well. The
followers of Stanley, the letter said, were en-
trenched in a Damp, affording all necessary
ad'vantagcs and the whole party world begin
on June 28th a forced march of 400 miles to

advices are one day later than others that

Ingersoll, Out., Aug 29— Robbins' largest
elephant got away from tha circus this
afternoon, swatn across Smith's pond and
then went through the town at a lively pace.
It turned west and followed the river for
some distance, destroying many fences that
were in its road, It got into a field where
there were a number of cattle, and after
chasing them around for a while without
doing much damage it got on the G. T. R.
track and went west about six miles from
here. It took several elephants anda num-
ber of men to capture the butte.
T
ALWAYS ATPREMIUM.
To this "fifth quarter of the Globe," as an
Irish writer has called it, the mother country
sends many things its people do not want,
and the consegnences too frequently are an
overstocked market and a depressed trade.
From this category we beg leave, however,
to exclude two articles—the two celebrated
remedies of Holloway, Throughout Aus-
tralia'they aro at a premium. The Pill and
Ointment aro considered the most profitable
commodities that can be taken to the di_•g-
i gs, as their efficacy in the disease common
i"Ohl region is well known to every
nu e.t-hunter, and they are therefore eagerly
bought up at any price by those toilers after
the " mammon of unrieliteousness." For
bilious fevers and all disorders of the liver
and bowels which prevail on the auriferous
soils of the interior, the Pills appear to be a
positive, immediate and invariable cure. We
have seen returned gold hunters fr.un the
"diggings," and their reports on this heart
are uniform. Nor is the testimony less
conclusive in relation to the Ointment .as a
means of relieviugrheumatism and neuralgia
and healing the Rounds, abrasions, contus-
ion",&c', incident to a hard life m the
wil ru . In short, every one iu "the
basil" looks upon Holloway's two prepares
time as a sufficient medicine of his outer
and inner mon. He knows, for he has
wintered with them and summered with
them beyond the settlement, that they are
his surest reliance in sickness at all seasons
and under all circumstances. Almost every
digger has some anecdote to relate of the
cares they haye performed. Limbs saved
from mortifleetian, ulcers preserved from
gangrene, contracted joints relaxed, liver
disease arrested, dysentery and diarrhoea
oared—these are their trophies. Iii fact they
are among the good things of which we
cannot have too much, and although jhr
imports at present are so large as almost to
be incredible, still the demand keeps, in ad-
vance of the supply. Furnished with these•
remedies the digger and the settler have
little need of medical advice, fcr it seems
beyond gaestton that their curative effects
cover the whole elrele of diseases and a largo
portion of the chapter of accidents. Of
what use is success to the digger if, when
fortune is achieved. he die beside his hoard ?
and how many lives that were sacrificed in
the early days of the gold discoveries might
have been saved by these inestimable prepar-
ations.—The Digger
IN BRIEF, AND TO THE POINT.
,- Dyspepsia is dreadful. Disordered liver is
misery. Indigestion is a foe to good nature.
The human digestive apparatus is one of
the most complicated and wonderful things
in existence. It is easily put -out of order.
. Greasy food, tough food, sloppy food, bad
cookery, mental worry, late hours, irregular
habits, and many other things which ought
not to be, have made the American people a
nation of dyspeptics.
But GreeL's August Flower has done a
wonderful work in reforming this sad bus-
iuess and making the. American people so
healthy that they can enjoy their meals and
be happy.
Remember :—No happiness without health.
