Helpful Hints
Now that the cold and
flu season is upon us once
again, perhaps these
ideas will help.
Try giving the child an
hourglass to watch while
his temperature is being
taken. He'll forget his
panic while being in-
trigued watching the
hourglass.
Try this trick, when a
young child needs to be
taught to gargle: Have
him watch you try to sing
a favourite song while
gargling. Let him join in
for the second round,
with, medicine. It's a
messy job, but one that
works.
Having "fun" getting
your child to take liquid
medication? Try mixing
it with orange juice and
serving in a brightly
coloured plastic cup, with
a straw.
Let a bedridden child
pass the time enjoyably
by cutting out pictures of
fruits and vegetables
from an old seed
catalogue. He can paste
them on paper to make a
picture, or you can use
them as labels for next
year's canning.
Another good time
amuser is a strip of pre -
pasted wallpaper. Let.the
child cut out pictures
from old magazines. Wet
the back of the wallpaper
with a sponge and stick
the cut outs on it to make
a picture he has created.,
He'll be pleased with his
work, and mom will love
the no -mess glue.

very capably whenever
he was ill, will be blessed
with many pleasant years
together in the future.
They will be here in the
