Hensall notes and news

Mr. Walker Carlile,
who has been a patient in
St. Joseph's Hospital
London following major
surgery, returned to his
home last week.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed Little
recently sold their
residence here and have
taken up residence in
Exeter.
Mrs. Bertha
MacGregor returned
home after spending the
past two weeks with her
son and daughter-in-law,
Mr. and Mrs. Don
MacLaren, Jodi and
Brooke in Oakville.
Mr. Bert Horton and
Mr. Harold Parker
returned home from a
moose -hunting trip to
Thunder Bay.
Church News
Rev. A. Young of
Goderich conducted
service in Carmel
Presbyterian Church on
Sunday. Miss Sylvia Bell
was guest soloist, ac-
companying on the guitar
and sang "Try A Little
Kindness". Mrs. Robert
Taylor presided at the
organ..
The service next
Sunday will be at 10:15
standard time. The
Ladies' Aid will hold their
annual Bazaar on
Saturday, November 4 at
3 pm.
UCW regional meeting
The South Huron -Perth
Regional UCW meeting
was held in ChiseIhurst
United Church on
Tuesday October 17th
with the president, Mrs.
Harold Parker presiding,
and opened with. a "Good
Morning Friends" and an
"Autumn Poem" The
Theme for the meeting
was "Human Rights".
Following the
registration, a sing -
along was given by
Zurich UCW and a
"Welcome to All" from
the president of
Chiselhurst UCW, Mrs. J.
Brintnell.
Mrs. Wellington Brock
of Exeter was appointed
Secretary. The Morning
Devotionals on human
rights was given by
Centralia UCW.
Following the business,
the president Mrs. Harold
Parker spoke. An in-
vitation was received
from the Elirnville UCW
to host the 1979 Regional
meeting.
The treasurer's report
was given by Mrs. D.
Kernick of Goderich and
greetings from Huron -
Perth Presbyterial by
Mrs. F. Zurbrigg. Mrs.
Leila Finkbeiner and
Miss M. Johnstoe were in
charge of the Literature.
Mr. Ron Heimreich of
Zurich spoke on
"Retardation and Human
Rights" which was very
interesting.
Following lunch a Sing -
Along was presented by
Greenway UCW. The Roll
call was answered by "A
Highlight of the Year".
The speaker, Rev. A.
Taylor of Varna, spoke on
"Christian Women and
his work as a Missionary
in Nigeria". The offering
and prayer was by
jjppen UCW. Mrs. Laird
Mickle, Hensall favoured
with a piano in-
strumental.
Exeter gave "Courtesy
Remarks" and Crediton
UCW gave the "Closing
Thoughts". Mrs. Parker
closed the meeting with
Prayer.
Personals
Mrs. Helen Thompson
of Toronto has taken up
residence in her dwelling
on Mill street.
Mrs. Edgar Munn
returned home after
spending a few days with
Mr. and Mrs. Don
Gooding and Dale in
Parkhill.
Mr. Ed Corbott had the
misfortune to slip while
working on his farm. He
cut his leg and was at-
tended at South Huron
Hospital Exeter, where
several stitches were
required to close the
wound.
Mrs. Harold Parker
spent a few days visiting
with her sort -in-law and
daughter Mr. and Mrs.
Don Dalton and Carla at
Seaforth.
Hensall arena plan opening
With only one week to
go before the official
opening of the new
Hensall Community
Centre, plans for the four
days of special activities
have almost been
finalized.
Plans for the official
opening will be finalized
at a meeting scheduled
for tonight.
Earlier it had been
announced the official
opening will be held on
Wednesday November 1.
The following night,
Thursday, will be family
night and dances will
take oyer the spotlight for
Friday and Saturday
nights.
Many local dignitaries
are expected to be in
attendance at the
opening, with Huron MP
Bob McKinley saying he
will be present.
Organizers are hopeful
of staging an old timers
hockey game sometime
during the opening week.
Meanwhile, the quest
for funds continues, with
a blitz of the village week
bringing in $2306.80. A
total of $162,727.66 has
now been collected with a
little over $13,000
remaining to be obtained
before the campaign goal
of $175,000.

was only one of several that were viewed by many people who attended the

Constance Foresters busy

Foresters Dance,
The 'Foresters fall
dance was held on
Saturday evening,
October 24 in the Seaforth
Legion with the Music
Makers providing the
music. Spot dances were
won by Clayton McClure
and Joanne Robinson,
and Ken and Joanne
Jewitt. The draw for the
quilt was made with June
Fothergill of Londesboro
being the lucky winner.
The Forester ladies and
friends made the quilt in
the spring and sold
tickets on it with the
proceeds to be donated to
the Cancer Fund. There
will be $400 to donate.
Thanks to everyone for
making it a success.
Ladies' night
Ladies' Night was held
on Monday evening,
October 23 in the hall and
was well attended. The
evening was spent
playing progressive
euchre with 14 tables
playing.
Lucky winners were
high, Edith Beacom; lone
hands, Mrs. Wilfred
Coleman; low, Florence
McIlwain.
Special name tag was
won by Vinetta Hoggart.
Lunch was served by
Delphine Dolmage's
committee and a panny
sale was conducted. It

of Auburn when they
celebrated her 80th birth-
day.

patient in Seaforth
Hospital. We hope he will
soon be home and feeling
much better.

homebound for some
reason.

The fourth meeting of
the Clinton I 4-H club was
held at Cheryl Arm-
strong's. Karen Dale
read the minutes and we
discussed our Hallowe'en
party to which we have
invited mothers.
We made tea biscuits
and creamy ham and
mushrooms. Then we
rhade place cards for our
party.
The next meeting will
be held at Julie Taylor's
on October 30. -by Colleen
Scruton.

were read by Alison
Lobb, acting secretary.
Treasurer Norene
Tebbutt gave her
financial statement and
reported she had sent $10
to CNIB as voted at the
September meeting.
The November meeting
will be at Lula Merrill's
home, the afternoon of
November 1. A penny
sale will be held so please
remember your donation
worth $1.25. Lula Merrill
and Karen served a
delicious lunch.
