Cubs, Scouts, Brownies busy The cub pack met on Saturday ,.thorn ing at the leaders house. We were joined by a new leader Jahn Miller,'who will be a great help to us. :We had some work to do first, selling the rest of o>tir calenders. This done wp headed for the Scout Cpmp, where we were greeted by the Bayfield and Vanastra troops and given an area so we could bilild our fires. After clearing the area of `•brush we collected the proper wood to build our fires. When the fires were going we cooked hot dogs and warmed our hot chocolate. The Bayfield Scouts brought over a small milk snake for the Cubs to see. WO also, made a short, hiljm to the river to see the salmon. From the river one graup set out to lay a trill. The other group followed about five minutes later, but failed to'follow the whole trail and returned to camp before the first group. A. time was allowed to build dens. These were made out of dead trees and either stood against another tree, to form a tepee or laid over a hollow in the ground. They then covered these with ferns and leaves. The dens completed, we gathered up the boys and left for home returning about 3 pm. An enjoyable time was had by all. Scouts Camp The Vanastra Scout Troop was joined by 12 of the Bayfield scouts in an overnight camp this past weekend. They met at the Vanastra Troops camp on Saturday morning. Most of the morning was spent erecting their tents and stowing the gear. Setting up camp also included building a latrine, a new experience for lmost of the boys. The purpose of the camp was to get the boys out with another troop to have fun and also for the leaders to see how the boys acted in the out- doors. Both of these objectives were ac- complished and everyone enjoyed themselves. Thanks goes out to Dennis Smith, Ron Plumsteel and Fred Gale for driving the Scouts to camp. Next weekend, four of the Vanastra Scouts will be returning to camp. They hope to complete the requirements for their adventuring badge, this includes a five mile hike with full back pack. Good Luck to these boys. Brownies At the regular meeting of the Brownies on Monday night an open discussion was held regarding the Hallowe'en party, a hayride and the Christmas bazaar.
