OCTOBER 5 Mg (1) central huron .c T richard brown, editor ronic!e secondary school news Just ask Annie Dear Readers: By now you are undoubtedly aware that I have returned and 'this year I promise you that I will be smarter and nastier than ever before. "Why?" you ask. Because of idiots who send me letters like this. Dear Annie: This is a letter to behold your praising. After all 'this time of your graying the Chronicle's pages, you must finally graduate from CHSS and leave us poor students to help ourselves. Your brand of half-wit wisdom will be forever gone, we'll be rid of you! Best of all, I'll be able to look at the Chronicle without seeing it's. fair pages sullied by "just ask Annie". Ah, the days to come will be sheer joy without you. I hope the only advice you will ever be able to give will be. by replying to graffiti in the ladies' room! And Good Rid- dance! (no fancy names for me!) So what can I say? All I ask is that if anybody hears weeping and gnashing of teeth in the halls, they avoid whoever's causing the racket, the fellow seems to be insane and giving to delusions based on wish- ful thinking. Dear Annie: I have a problem with' my crazy brother. You see, my family has lived near the lake for several years. During this time my brother started the hobby of collecting driftwood. It was fine at first, as long as he kept the wood in his room, but then he began to keep "pieces in the basement, the '-living room and everyone else's bedrooms. Once, even, I walked into the batlifoom and found him rinsing off a five-foot long log in the bathtub. I do know that he takes some of the smaller pieces in with him when he takes a bath and plays with them like toy boats. And he's seventeen! The whole house is cluttered and he even expropriated the book- case in my bedroom and my closet to hold his junky pieces of wood. There are splinters and woodlice everywhere and the house stinks. Mom and Dad pretend not to notice and tell me off when I complain. I'm sure that the whole house has become a fire hazard! Annie, can't I do anything? -- Splintered Nerves Well for one, I wouldn't smoke at home if I were you. Also, you, could suggest to your brother that he build something with them, like an ad- dition to the house, or a kennel for Fido or even a bird perch. You could have a bonfire party with your friends when he's out. As a last resort, you could put in an anonymous call to the fire department saying that the house is a fire hazard. That could get your parents to act. Oh yes, I recommend that you get your brother to furnish his room in rubber rather than wood and add some long sleeved jackets to his wardrobe. Dear Puzzled: Well first, I'd make double sure that your friend is the guilty one. If you can't find concrete evidence against her, try not lending her anything, or bringing her home with you for a while. If things stop vanishing, it's more than likely she's the one. If they don't stop, I think you owe her an apology. If, however you can find concrete evidence, I'd confront her with it. I leave it to your discretion as to whether you tell her to go to the doctor or whatever you feel is best. Personally, I'd tell her to see a psychiatrist. The Auburn WI quilt was on display at the Fall Rally held in Londesboro on Monday. The quilt was entered in the contest at the International Plowing Matich. (Blyth Standard photo) News from the Holmesville area By Blanche Deeves Holmesville 4-H The third meeting of the Holmesville 1, 4-H was held at the home of Sheryl Thompson. Bev's team made a thin white sauce, while Debbie's team made a med ium white sauce. The sauces were mixed together and made a potato cheese dhowder which was enjoyed by all 4-11. Dear Annie: My best friend is a thief. That's a heck of an accusation, I know, but I'm sure of it. Several times I've lent her stuff which she hasn't returned and worse yet, she denies having them, A couple of antes I've let her into my room, and, invariably, by the time she's left, something is missing. Iter family isn't poor or anything and she's got good parents, so I can't Understand her behaviour. I haven't fixtthd any concrete evidence to prove it, blit the circumstantial ei'ldence againe i,her is very' st00.
