Soccer club finishes
Bayfield Minor Soccer
Club closed their season
on Friday September 29
with a banquet held at the
United Church. Joe
Fansher said grace
before they sat down to a
delicious meal. The
guests of honour were
Mr. and Mrs. Tony
Jeacock.
Mr. Jeacock presented
trophies to: most
valuable atom, David
Telford; most improved
atom, Danny Denomme;
most valuable squirt,
David Stevens; most
improved squirt, Jon
Scott; most valuable
goalie, John Sauve; best
sportsman, Brian Fisher.
Two soccer balls were
presented to Brian Fisher
and David Stevens. for
Bridal
shower held
A community shower
was held on September 20
for Winnifred'Armstrong
at Bayfield United
Church. Friends and
neighbours gathered for a
social evening and were
entertained with a few
contests and a Mock
wedding.
Linda Talbot read the
address to Winnifred who
vyas assisted in opening
her gifts by her mother,
her future mother-in-law
Mrs. Darnb.rough,
Dianne Revington and
Julie Boyce. The bride-to-
be thanked everyone for
their -gifts after which a
lovely lunch was served.
Lions meet
The Bayfield Lions
Club held their regular
meeting at the Albion
Hotel on Tuesday Sep-
tember 19.
They are very proud to
report that. they had a
return visit from the Port
Sanilac Mich. Lions Club.
The Bayfield Lions had -
visited them last spring.
They arrived with eight
members and left with a
few souvenirs of the
Bayfield Club. Among
the members was past
pres. Ray Sandoe, and
Lion E. Rope, who is also
the mayor of Port
Sanilac.
Also visiting was our
Deputy District Governor
Greo. Teather making his
official visit to our club.
He had three other
members of the
Thamesford Club with
him.

The young people of the
Bayfield Baptist Church
met at the church Friday
evening and after en-
joying a lively bowling
party they returned to the
home of Miss Louanne
Nicholson for refresh-
ments.
The services of the
Bayfield Baptist Church
began with Sunday
School with clasdes for all
under the direction of the
Superintendent,Mr.
Doyle Cullen.
At the evening service
Rev. Les Shiel continued
the in depth study of the
• book of Ephesians.
Special music for the
day was supplied by Mrs.
Cathi Cullen and Mrs.
Ann •Chaprnan in two
lovely duets. The monthly
Communion service was
shared after the evening
service.
Friday evening will be
parent's night following
.the week-long adventure
meetings for the children.
All are invited to come
and see the children sing,
repeat the verses they
have learned and receive
the prizes they have
earned. '
Saturday evening at 8
p.m. is London Bible
Seminary Night with a
special program' in-
cluding numbers by the
Seminary • personnel,
special music,
Thanksgiving Sunday
there will be a Harvest
Home service with
special music and in-
spirational messages
both from the local
congregation and the
London 'Bible Seminary.

Fisher drew the winning
ticket for $50 worth of
groceries which was won
by Betty Crich R.R. 5,
Clinton. The evening
ended with a film show.
We would like to thank
everyone for making this
event a success; Mr.
Siertsema for the film
show ; and United
Church, Mrs. Fisher and
the ladies for the splendid
meal.
Hope to see all boys
next year.

Mrs. Bigelow of
Collingwood are visiting
their daughter, Mrs.
Doyle Cullen, Mr. Callen
and B.J., in Clinton and
attended services at I the
Bayfield Baptist Church,
where Mr. Bigelow
assisted in the service.
Mr. and Mrs. Bigelow
were formerly in the
Pastorate here.
Mr. Ray Schell of the
Clan Grego/ apartments,
visited his sister-in-law
Brian Reis of Stratford isn't taking any chances this year. A couple of years
ago he didn't get his boat out of the water in time and ended up loading it in a
snow storm. Although many boats were still in the Bayfield marina last
Friday, Mr. Reis'was out swabbing the decks while Murray MacFadden also of

commence for the fall
season at the Municipal
Building on Wednesday
October 11 at 8 pm.
Players are reminded to
bring sandwiches or
cookies. As usual all
euchre players are
welcome.
Mrs. Polly Wiltse,
Huronview, attended St.
Andrews United Church
communion service on
Sunday morning and
spent the day with Ross
and Mildred Merrill.
The Rev. William
Bennett, rector of Trinity
Anglican Church,
Bayfield and St. James
Middleton is a patient in
Westminster Hospital
London. We wish him a
speedy recovery.
Recently Mr. and Mrs.
W. E. Parker visited their
sons in London and
Dorchester at which time
family birthdays were
celebrated. Mr. and Mrs.
Parker also visited Mr.
and Mrs. R. J. Reid in
Lucknow.

the 25th Annual Provost
Corps Reunion Silver
Jubilee Dinner and
Dance at Prevost armory
London on Saturday
September 30.
A very enjoyable
evening was highlighted
with Roy renewing old
friendships and meeting
many old comrades,
some of whom he had not
seen for over 30 years.
Mrs. Elsie Schell at
Gadshill one day last
week.
We are pleased to
report that Mr. Lloyd
Huffman has returned
home after his recent
stay in Victoria Hospital
in London.

Nediger spent the
weekend with their son
and daughter-in-law, Mr.
and Mrs. C.A. Nediger
and' family in Scarboro,
and attended a baby
shower for their great-
granddaughter, Jessica
Kelly. Mr. Douglas Bali
of Corbiel, visited his
mother Mrs. Jay Ball for
four days last week.

Rozelle of St. Clair,
Michigan, visited with
Mrs. Dorothy Weston for
a few days.

presently confined in the
Clinton and District

Miss Shirley Keys,
accompanied by Miss
Doris Symington of
Petrolia, returned home
Friday night after
travelling through nor-
thern Michigan to
Mackinac Island, then to
Sault Ste Marie where
they took the train ride to
the Agawa Canyon. They
went to Manitoulin Island
where they boarded the
Chi-Cheemaun; for
Tobermory, and then
home.
Mr. and Mrs. Les
Talbot of St. Thomes
were honoured at a
dinner at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Doug Talbot to
celebrate their wedding
anniversary and both
their birthdays. Other
guests present were Mr.
Ray Schell,'Mr. and Mrs.
Norm Talbot, Debbie,
Wendy, Lisa, Cari-Lynn
and Terri -Lynn Talbot.
Bayfield I, 4-H
The first meeting of the
Bayfield I Big Macs took
place on Wednesday
September 27 at the home
of Karen Webster. First
the voting took place. The
results are president,
Sheri Phoenix; vice-
president, Anne Talbot;
press reporter, Joanne
Sturgeon, and it was
decided to have a rotating
secretary. The leader of
the club is Karen Webster
with Laura Erb as
assistant.
At the meeting the
group discussed a. food
guide break -down, a
personal food guide and
played a grocery bag
game. They also
discussed the
achievement day skit.
Everyone participated
in' making metric crispy
granola and all preferred
the mixture before it was
cooked. The next meeting
will be held Wednesday,
October 4 at 7:30 p.m. at
the home of Karen
