The Cheerio Club July minutes were read The Cheerio Club met by the secretary, June on September 20 at the home of Laura Lyon. Acting president Dora Shobbrook welcomed all and opened the meeting with a thought and a hymn, with Gladys Armstrong at the piano. Th minutes of the last meeting and the treasurer's report were given by Mrs. Arm- strong. The group has been invited to attend the WI's October 11 meeting at 8 p.m. The roll call was answered by 10 members and two guest who each gave a current event. The next meeting will be charged by Group 2. The meeting then closed with a hymn and an entertainment program followed. Mrs. Lyon and Mrs. Shobbrook gave several readings. Mrs. Lyon then conducted a physical fitness examination and Ida Durnin conducted some games of cards and crokinole. Lunch was served by Mrs. Lyon and Mrs. Shobbrook, assisted by Edythe Beacom. United Church Rev. Stan McDonald lead the service at the United Church on Sunday morning. For his sermon, Rev. McDonald chose the topic, "How can we live with uncongenial saints." The choir under the direction of Mrs. Allen Shaddick sang the an- them. Mrs. Harry Lear was the organist since Mrs Glenn McGregor is Fothergill. A thank you note was received from Bernice Norman for the recipe file she received. The treasurer's report was given by Audrey Thompson. The Aimwell Unit will host the Berean Unit at the October 16 meeting at the church when the roll call will be answered by bringing a friend. The lunch committee will be charged by Gail Lear, Helen Lawson, Betty Hulley and Joan Whyte while Marion Snell, Marion Hunking and Kathy McKellar will head, the program committee. Helen Lee, and Kathy McDougall will look after the flowers for October. A baby congratulations card was sent to Mrs. McDougall.The next general meeting will be held on November 13. The program for the September meeting was conducted by Mary Peel and June Fothergill. The speaker was Caroline Thompson. She showed pictures of her trip to Inuvik in the Arctic where her daughter lives. The talk was enjoyed by the group who showed their appreciation by giving Mrs. Thompson a gift, presented by June Fothergill. Youth groups register Keen interest was shown in the youth groups at the United Church when registration took place on September 21 at the school. Rev. McDonald registered the boys' groups while Margaret Wright looked after the girls. Further registration for these groups can be received and left at the church, or with Rev. The trip was sponsored by the Anglican Church in Clinton. Mr, and Mrs. Ted Fothergill and family attended the wedding, dinner and reception for the latter's sister Carol Bender and William Gilmore. They were married on September 22 at the Kin Station in Listowel. Attending- the OES Grand Chapter's 63rd session in Toronto on September 21 from the Regal Chapter, Blyth were PM's Edythe Beacom, Dora Shob- brook,- Marjorie East, Mildred Ament, Dorothy Elliott, Marion Snell and Frank Elliott, PP. The group was honored to have the Three -B's, Barbara, Bonnie and Betty Snell entertain at the sessions. Rev. Mr. and Mrs. Cyril Murell of Orangeville, visited on the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Orval Kelland. A number Of people from the United congregation attended the 100th anniversary of the Ontario Street United Church on Sunday evening. The Rt. Rev. George Tuttle, moderator of the United Church of Canada was the guest speaker. The evening service took the form of a Huron -Perth Presbytery rally. A bus trip on Sunshine Tours took place on Saturday to Kitchener. It was enjoyed by Hazel Reid, Gloria McEwing, Beth Knox and Elsie Shaddick. The WI county rally will be held on October 2 during the morning at the Londesboro Hall. All the ladies are asked to bring their own lunch. Coffee will be supplied. The UCW thankof fering will be held on October 4 at 8 pm in the Londesboro Church. Mrs. Wittich from Blyth will be the What better fun for a Friday night than loading tons of papers into a semi -trailer. Actually the , Londesboro Lions Club have gotten used to the task of carrying papers. Since April they have. been collecting newspapers from the Clinton and -Myth 30 area and storing them in Howard •Cartwright's shed. Last Friday night, the Cartwright shed was emptied as a group of Lions loaded the papers, to be taken to a plant, Canadian Comfort Insulation in Putnam. After the pledge the girls made Metric Crispy Granola. While the granola was cooking the, officers Were eliected'. They included: pres Pat Bylsrna ident, vice explai president, Leanne Thurlow; secretary, rotating; press reporter, Debbie Wallace. Kittie MacGregor is the leader and Nancy Anstett .is the assistant. At the meeting the group played the grocery game and then filled in the chart on "Essential Edibles." Mrs. Anstett ned about the different areas of the Canada Food Guide. When the business was . finished the girls tested the granola which turned out to be quite good.
