Baptism
Worship service was
held Sunday in the
Holmesville United
Church. Children at-
tended their classes in the
Sunday School rooms.
Mr. Stewart Farquhar
and Mr. Harold Jantzi
received the offerings.
Scott and Peggy Scott
presented their daughter
Leslie Dawn Marie to
Rev. J. Oestreicher for
baptism, Joan Switzer of
Clinton being a God-
parent.
Next Sunday in
Holmesville United
Church they will be
starting to celebrate their
100th birthday. Service
will be at 2 pm with the
senior choir in at-
tendance. Former
ministers will be bringing
their greetings. Guest
speaker for the service
will be the well known
news commentator of
CFPL - TV London, Jack
Burghardt. After the
service, there will be a
friendship hour in the
church hall with birthday
cake and coffee.
Bridal Shower
A lovely bridal shower
was held at the home of
Mrs. Betties on the
evening of September 19
in honour of Miss Bonnie
Cox. A surprise parcel
game was played with
Bonnie the eventual
winner. Co -hostesses
were Mrs. William Cox,
Mrs. Letitia Riddle, Mrs.
John Wubs, Mrs. William
Townshend, and Mrs.
Don Harris.
The many beautiful
gifts were presented to
the bride to be by Miss
Jary Jean Bettles and
Pat and Cheryl, sisters of
Bonnie. A bridal bonnet
was made. and a lovely
corsage completed the
bride's evening outfit.
Round dance
club
The Huron Happy
Heart Round Dance Club
' began their weekly
dances for the season at
the Holmesville Public
School on Friday evening
September 15 with a good
attendance under the
direction of Edward and
Lois Wise. On Wednesday
evening, September 20,
the club was invited 'to
dance at the Brookside
Public School when the
summer beginner class
graduated. Guests were
present from Grand
Bend, Bayfield,
Goderich, Clinton,
Londesboro, Auburn,
Lucknow, Kincardine,
Hanover, Walkerton,
Howick. After the
graduates had danced a
few initiation dances,
they were presented with
diplomas and pins by the
Wises.
A gift was presented to
the instructors by the
class and the Howick
Club gave a gift of ap-
preciation for the mon-
thly dances that Edward
and Lois held this year.
Lunch was served by the
graduates and lovely
graduation cake was cut
and served by the Wises.
School news

Thursday, September 28
should be a "B" day
instead of an "A" day as
typed on the calendar,
thus making Friday,
September 29 an "A"
day.
Soccer
Tournament
Girls and boys teams
from this school will
participate in a soccer
competition on Wed-
nesday, October 11. Rain
date is the 13th. A. cross
country competition will
take place on Tuesday,
October 24 with
representatives from our
school in attendance.
Reports will be sent
home on Wednesday,
October 18. The reports
will deal with the at-
titudes that the pupils
have developed toward
their various respon-
sibilities.
School band
The school bandis
under the direction of Mr.
Robert Blackwell and has
30 members. Seventeen
are in Grafi 8, 11 of these
have played in the band
for twe years and there
are students in their tirst
