Hoimesville United congregation iflvite( to visit

United Church News
The minister Rev.
Oestreicher, returned to
the pulpit for worship last
Sunday morning, his
message "we live in a
changing world - be
strong and of good
courage". A baptism is
planned for next Sunday.
Rev. Oestreicher asked
the children what they
enjoyed most during the
summer, then led in
praYer and they went to
their respective classes.
Mr. Stewart Farquhar
and Mr. Harold Jantz
received the offering. The
minister extended an
invitation to the
congregation to visit the
manse in the afternoon. If
unable to come then, visit
the manse on October 1.
UCW meets
On Tuesday ''afternoon
September 12, the UCW
met in Holmesville
United Church with Mrs.
John Grigg and her group
in charge of the meeting
which opened with the
call to worship. Mrs.
Irvine Tebbutt led in
prayer and Mrs. Don
Harris read the scripture.
Readings were given by
Mrs. John Grigg and Mrs.
Oestreicher.
Mrs. Don Harris read a
poem, . "my task". The
roll Call was answered
with "a church you
visited this year". Mrs.
Edward Grigg, Clinton
gave an interesting ac-
count of her visit to Alma
College.
The Holmesville
families are invited to
visit the manse on Sun-
day September 17 and if
unable to come. that day,
come to the manse on
October 1. Thirteen dozen
cookies were promised
for the plowing match in
Wingham. The members
plan to staff the Hospital
Cart each Friday in
October, and the Fall
Rally will be held in
Trinity Church, Ashfield
on October 3.
Our annual bazaar date
is November 8 in the
White Carnation. A bale
to be packed this fall -
leave your articles in the
church basement.

Pat Harris was home
for the weekend from
Sarnia to visit with her
parents and family Mr.
and Mrs. Ken Harris.
Mr. and Mrs. Douglas
Norman and girls have
returned from an en-
joyable three week
holiday to the eastern
provinces through to
Newfoundland. Don and
Isobel Harris spent
Sunday. in London with
Isobel's sister Irene and
Jim Durnin.
Holmesville 4-H
The second meeting of
Holmesville 1 4-1.1 was
held at the home of Mary
Jean Betties on Sep-
tember 13. The election of
officers took place.
Pre§ident for the coming
year is Hate Doorley; 1st
vice president, Kathy
Van Ninhuys; secretary,
Arlinda Scholndorf;
treasurer,
Thompson;
reporter,
Harrison.
A discussion was held
on a guide for good
eating. Members chose
two, teams and made the
metric crispy granola.
The next meeting is to be
held at the home -of Bev -
Mathers.

The Goderich Township,
Women's Institute met in
Holmesville Public
School on , Monday
evening September 11
with the president, Mrs.
,Hazel Mc.Creeath . in the
chair. The meeting
opened in usual form and
the business discussed.
An invitation to the
Huronview Tea and
Bazaar on Wednesday,
October 11 was read, also
an invitation to attend the
Clinton Women's
Institute on October 26.
Mrs. Helen Lindsay
and -Mrs. Millie Dempsey
were chosen delegates to
attend the Women's
Institute Rally, to be held
in Londesboro Hall on
October 2. Mrs. Gonnie
requests members to
remove Kraft Miracle
Whip salad dressing and
.mayonnaise labels and
place them in boxes
'placed in grocery stores.
Kraft pays for these. The
Huron County
Homemakers need the
funds to carry on .their
work in thetounty.
Mrs. Gibson reghested
Institute members to
attend the Huronview
Auxiliary and would like
new members. The area
convention is to be held
November 1 and 2 at the
Banqueter in London, and
the variety show is
planned for October 26.
Plans were duscussed
for the Plowing Match at
Wingham, and the next
meeting is October 9.

weeds, grasses etc. to
make dried
arrangements.
The meeting was
