Tuttle Kinettes plan more events The Kinette Club of Clinton last week com- menced another busy year with a dinner meeting at the Little Inn, Bayfield with president Bev. Riley in charge. September and October see many service projects. Already past is the street dance held, in conjunction with the official opening of the grandstand. A good profit was realized and a big thank you goes to everyone who helped make the evening a success. Several Kinettes volunteered to help with the tea held by the Bluewater Club of .the C.N.I.B. last Thursday at the Orange Hall. Kinettes, alongeWith the members of the Beta Sigma Phi, will canvass the town for the Arthritic Moderator to visit Clinton The Moderator of the United Church of Canada, Rev. George Milledge Tuttle will be visiting Clinton this coming Sunday, September 24. - Rev. Tuttle will be at two services of Ontario Street United Church, which is celebrating its Centennial this year. The Moderator will be guest preacher at the 11 a.m. service and at the 8 p.m. service when he will head a rally of the Huron - Perth Presbytery, which comprises 75 congregations in 46 pastoral- charges in the two counties. ' Rev. Tuttle's visit is the highlight of the 100th anniversary of the church, which is being marked on three Sundays in September. In August 1977, Rev. Tuttle, principal of St. Stephens College in Edmonton, was elected moderator of the United Church of Canada: Journalists 'reported that he seemed astonished, this could have happened to him. And he was. Except for a brief time of some prominence -' in national youth activities years ago, Dr. Tuttle has ,walked a path at times almost invisible, doing what he felt called to do in an unpretentious way. His father, Aubrey S. Tuttle, had been principal of the same college years before and preceded his son as moderator from 1940 to 1942. People watered if George might follow his father's footsteps and by a strange set of cir- cumstances he did—both as principal of St. Stephen's College and as Moderator. The fact is that in his personal pilgrimage the son often diverged from the father's ex- pressed views, notably in conscientious objection during World War II and later in the choice of a particular job. He does have strong opinions on some sub- jects. Living in Edmonton, he has studied the pipeline question and native rights., He's well informed on energy matters, environment and pollution. He's keen on science, but concerned about some detrimental human effects of technology. In May 1977, he was one of a group of fifty scientists and theologians Invited to share in a national Symposium. . Dr..Tuttle's concern for matters of energy and environment are lived out in a comparatively simple lifestyle. He rides a bicycle in his home city and in other cities prefers public transportation to taxis. He will sometimes even hitch -hike. He grows vegetables, ' does . horhe repairs and goes camping for holidays. Though He laid aside His glory, He did not lay aside His deity. In His incarnation He retained every essential attribute of deity. His full deity and complete humanity are essential to His work on the cross. If He were not man, He could not die; if He were not God, His'death would not have had infinite value. He who is the eternal Son, Jehovah -God, was also the Son of.- Mary, the boy of Nazareth, the teacher and healer of Judea, the guest of Bethany, the Lamb of Calvary. He will yet be the King of glory, as He is now the Saviour of men, the High Priest, the coming Bridegroom and Lord. He says, "1 am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."
