The Clinton Housewives have proved that their
capabilities on the baseball field equal their duties
in the home. The women won the Huron
Ladies Softball League "A" division championship
for the second year in a row. Team members in-

Dillon Song, the 13 -
year -old former trotting
star and winner of over
$148,000, won his first
lifetime start pacing,
timed in 2:11.3, at Clinton
on Sunday afternoon.
Dillon is now racing for
Barry Elliott of Kit-
chener and is trained at
Clinton by Walter Oster-, ,
with Dennis Jewitt
driving. Frank
MacDonald was third •
with Ready Noble for
CIiff Walsh of Brussels.
Tony Bay, owned by G.
Ross McEwan and Lorne
Brown of Clinton, gave
Dennis his second win-
ning drive of the day
when he led all the way to
defeat Spitfire Sue with
John• Lester, up, who was
° trying for her fourth win
in a row. Wayne Dupee
was third with Bay Frost
A, which he co-owns with
his father Bruce, followed
by 'Gerry Roebuck with
Late Affair for Grant and
Carl Fisher of Goderich.
G -oldies Hit,, owned' and
trained by Terry
Rutledge of Clinton, was
driven to her first victory
this • year by Frank
MacDonald. She has also
had two seconds and two
thirds from 17 starts. •
Marcel Van Landuyt of
Staffa gave his former
Goderich owned pacer,
Claybrook Sudden, his
first lifetime win in 2:16.
Bev's Ace finished second
with Bill Habkirk up for
James D. Taylor of
Hensall. Dutton Duster
•was third in the trot with
Verdun Vanstone on the
bike for trainer Ben
Feagan of Goderich and
owner Wm. and Julia
Armstrong of Toronto.
Cinda Meadows, owned
by Ruth and Cinda Jerry
of Goderich, was the
winner of the fourth in
2:12.4 with Robert Jerry
up. Dennis Jewitt
finished second with
Delcrest Dan for owner -
trainer Brian Rutledge of
Brussels. Jack Meriam
was fourth with
Claybrook Romeo for
Charles Brindley of
Goderich.
Gerry Roebuck gave
Mikes Jimmy Lynn,
owned by Fred McCut-
cheon of St. Thomas, his
eighth win of the year
from 16 starts. .
Mike Meadow took a
new record of 2:11.4 for
trainer Jean Feagan and
driver Verdun Vanstone
in winning the eighth. The
four-year-old gelding by
H.A. Meadowland -Dainty
Debbie, owned by Jean
and Ben Feagan of
Goderich, has had two
wins, three seconds and
four thirds from 18 starts
in 1978. The same owners
raced Jay Bee Blaze
locally a few years ago
before he was claimed. In
1977 he had lifetime
earnings of $90,557 and a
pacing record of 2:01.1.

Robert Jerry was third

O.H.H.A Pacing Series
for four -year-olds, for a

The Goderich Township
Midget girls have done it
again. Last week the
Goderich Township girls
defeated Benmiller 9-5.
Coming behind in the last
inning they loaded the
bases with two out and
Pat Harris finished it off
with a grand slam home
run. It was a hard fought
game between both
teams. Congratulations
to the girls for their
second year effort.

Raceway, in honour of
the 1978 International
Plowing Match which will
be held near Wingham
from September 26-30.
Qualifying ,races will be
held at 12:30 pm with post
time at 1:30 pm.
Down at the lanes
The bowling teams are
back into action 'for
another season. The
Londesboro Ladies ,took
to the lanes on September
5 and Team 3 took a first
place position with five
points.
Team 1 is second. with
four; Team 2 is sitting
third with three points
and Team 4, the Lucky
Strikers is last with two.
In the individual
scoring, Penney Overboe
was .the top lady. She took
the high single of 242, the
high triple of 616 and the
high average of 205..
Ailene Salverda had 221
for the runner up in the
high single. Josephine
Cook had the runner's up
high triple of 586 and the
high average runner up
score of 195. Joyce
Vincent with plus nine is
the most improved
player.
