Londesboro UCWhoid meeting
The general meeting of
the UCW was held Sep-
tember` 5 at 8 p.m. in the
church hall when
president Helen Lawson
welcomed all and read
the meditation. There
were 15 present. The
minutes were read by
secretary Nona Pipe and
correspondence included
a thank -you from Ken
and. Betty Hulley and
family; Florence, John
and Claude Cartwright,
and Olive Gaunt. Letters
were read from Huron
Presbytery and London
Conference requesting to
raise M and S fund
allocation.
Margaret Good gave
the treasurer's report
with $454.72 on hand. It
was moved to renew
Upper Room by 12 copies.
East Huron Regional
meeting will be held
October 10th at 7:30 p.m.
at Winthrop United
Church and our autumn
thankoffering meeting
will be October 4 at 8 p.m.
Guests will be invited
from Auburn, Burns,
Blyth, - Christian
Reformed ladies, Blyth,
Ontario Street and
Wesley -Willis, Clinton,
Summerhill, Walton and
Winthrop. Lunch con-
veners are Marg
Anderson ' and Joan
Whyte. A letter of thanks
was read from our foster
child.
Next general meeting
will be held November 13
when the annual reports
will be given.
Representative to the
Board of Stewards
requested that a loud
speaker be on for guest
speakers. Supply
secretary, Laura Lyon
reported that there will
be no bale at the church,
but adult clothing will be.
taken to Heather Gardens
in Vanastra and all
clothing will be accepted
at Good Will , outlets.
There is also an appeal
for a crib mattress.

Choir anthem was

illustrating on earlier
days the light on railroad
stations. Junior teachers
were Sandra Westerhout,
Joan Whyte and Jean
Kennedy. The message
was "are you any value to
the world you live in?"

of the church were placed
in honour of the marriage
Of Barbara Glousher to
Kim Hodgins which took
place in the church on
September 9, placed by
her parents Norma and
Wilmer Glotjsher.
Flowers on the memorial
cupbbard were in
memory of Mr. and Mrs.
Arthur Hull - Mrs. Hull's
funeral was yesterday
and Mr. Hull passed
away one year ago. They
were former residents of
the Burns Church area.
Also on the memorial
stand, were flowers in
memory of Mr. and Mrs.
William Bromley Sr.

Mr. and Mrs. Russell
Good, Mr. Leonard Good,
Auburn, Mrs. Sandra
Popp and Kathy returned
home on Monday Sep-
tember 4th after a two
and a half week motor
trip through the western
provinces to Vancouver
Island on the ferry and
saw Butchart Gardens at
Victoria, the Parliament
Buildings and many other
interepting places.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack
Riley returned home on
Wednesday from spen-
ding two weeks with their
daughter Mr. and Mrs.
Bruce Kelly and Kathy at
Thunder Bay.
"Congratulations to Jim
and Marion Snell on their
25th wedding anniversary
on September 12th. On
Sunday the 10th, their
family entertained them
to a family dinner at the
White Carnation, in
Holmesville.
Miss Gladys Ross of
Hamilton spent a few
days last week with Miss
Edythe Beacom and Mrs.
Laura Lyon.

reunion in Blyth.

the bad news
The subscription rates and newsstand price for
Clinton News Record 'will be- increased effec-
tive Oct, 2, 1978.
The increase is due to increased costs; larger
papers causing higher postage; and other
rising production costs.
The change in the newsstand price will be from
30° to 35°. Part of this increase will go to the
boys delivering News Record and to the
newsstand vendors.
- The change In the local subscription price will
be from *13.00 to 14.00 and on senior citizen
rate from *11.00 to 12.00.
We are offering you a chance to take out a sub-
scription or renew your present subscription at
our present•rate for up to 3 years.
If- you take out .a subscription, or renew your
present one, before September 30 for one, two
or three years, you, will get. it at our present
rate of*13.00.
