Health clinic at
Resource Centre
This Thursday, Sep-
tember 7, there will be a
. Health Clinic at the
Resource Centre from 10-
11:30 am. At 7 pm there
will be a meeting of the
Community Development
Committee with Don
Graff to plan an end of
month communications
workshop.
On Friday September 8
at 4 pm the mini teens
will meet again for a new4
season. There will be
elections held for
president, vice-president,
secretary and treasurer.
Activities being planned
for this group involve a
large range of crafts and
games. The age group for
this club is to be 7-11
years. The first activity
planned is making por-
thole pictures.
On Friday, also at 7
pm, the teen club will
meet at . the Resource
Center,., The Club will be
holding elections for new
positions and all mem-
bers will take part in a
planning session for
activities for the year.
On Monday, September
11, the Calorie Counters
will hold this seasons
registration. All ladies
interested come out at 7
pm.
The Saturday story
hour will begin again in
mid September. Anyone
interested in taking part
please call the Resource
Centre. This program is
designed for pre-
scl1oolers.
On Thursday, August
31, eight children and
three teenagers who
attended the summer
tutoring sessions at the
Resource. Centre enjoyed
a barbecue at the Clinton
Conservation area. Many
thanks to the girls from
the teen club who helped
with the tutoring
sessions.
Sharon's recipe corner
Muffins
4 large shredded wheat
biscuits, 2 cups bailing
water, pour over biscuits
and let cool; 3 cups white
sugar; 1 cup shortening; 4
eggs; •1 tsp salt; 4 cups
buttermilk; 1/2 lb. raisins;
4 cups Kellogg's All
Bran; 5. tsp. soda; 5 cups
all-purpose flour.
Method: Cream
shortening and sugar.
Add eggs one at a time,
and shredded wheat. Mix
Flour, salt, end soda and
add to above. Add but-
termilk, all -bran and
raisins. Mix well. Fill
muffin tin 3/4 full. Bake at
350 degrees for 1/ hour.
Cook whatever", you need;
store. remainder in frig.
This batter will keep for
weeks in the frig.
Squares: 1 cup crushed
graham wafers; 1/4 cup
melted butter; mix put in
9 x 9 pan, then sprinkle: 1
Helpful
When snowsuits get
wet, dirty and muddy, let
them dry out thoroughly,
then ' use a vacuum
cleaner attachment to
brush loose and take the
dirt out.
After cleaning an oven
"bake" orange peelings
for a . short while at 350
degrees to get rid of the
strong oven cleaner
odour.

to be three or four years

December 1978. Any
children under three who
wish to., attend must be
accompanied by their

The cost will be $2 a
month for the first child
and $1 for each additional
child. Nursery School will
run on Tuesday and
Thursday mornings from

'holidaying at Pitch Pine
Island one of the
Thousand Islands as
guests of Mr. and Mrs.
Richard Snell. While
there they went on a two
hour cruise taking -in the
scenery of many of the
islands.
Miss Mary Jean Betties
had as her guest on the
weekend, Miss Eunice
Batkin of Clinton.
4-H'ers Needed
Holmesville I 4-H have
tried a new angle for this
club by having an
organizational meeting.
The name of the club
"essential edibles", and
the leaders for the year
are Mrs. Alvin Betties,
and her assistant, Mrs.
Charles Mathers.
Anniversary Party
Over 30 of the Harris
family gathered at the
home of Mr. and Mrs.
Ken Harris at
Holmesville on Sunday to
celebrate Kay and Kens
25th Wedding Anniver-
sary.
A lovely smorgasbord
pot luck supper was
enjoyed by all, with a
large cake decorated for
the occasion. Gifts were
received by the happy
couple.
We would like to
welcome Mr. and Mrs.
Gerry Innes to the area
who live on Concession 5
lot 30, RR2, Bayfield.
May their stay be a long
