TRUTH
Most people believe that there is a God. The Bible
assumes, but does not argue the existence of God. The
Bible says, "The fool has said in his heart, 'There is no
God."' Psalm 14:1.
The Bible reveals the nature of God. The OId
Testament emphasizes the unity of God. "Beside me
there is no God." Isaiah 44:6. Both OId and New
Testaments indicate that God exists as a Trinity -- God
the Father, God the Son and God the Holy. Spirit.
Early in Genesis there are references to the Spirit of
God (Genesis 1:2). The Son is seen frequently in the
Old Testament as in Isaiah 9:6, "Unto us a son is
given". He is called in this same verse, the mighty
God, the everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace."
In the New Testament the distinctness of the three
Persons of the Godhead is more clearly seen. At the
baptism of Jesus the Father spoke from heaven, and
the Holy Spirit descended from heaven like, a dove,
lighting upon Christ. Matt. 3:16, 17.
The Father and the Comforter (Holy Spirit) are seen as
distinct from Christ I'inself In verses .such as John
14:16.
This truth of the divine trinity should be accepted by
faith 'on the authority of the Scriptures even if it is
beyond our understanding or ability to explain.

Stroke club to startsoon in Huron
A Stroke Club is to be
started in the very near
future for those in-
dividuals who have
recently suffered a
stroke.
Strokes usually leave a
person with some
residual weakness in one
side of the body which is
sometimes referred to as
hemiplegia. Some people
recover more quickly
than others.
The aims of the Stroke
Club are: to maintain the
present level of function
so as to prevent re -
institutionalization and to
enable stroke victims to
maintain their in-
dependence; to provide, a
social setting for the
homebound with similar
handicaps; to provide a
structured exercise
class; ; to provide
recreational activities
such as crafts that in-
cor,porate therapy
maintaining: range,. of
motion,
muscle strength,
co-ordination and fine
finger activities) ; to help
give a sense of usefulness
in society and a
meaningful role in life,
and to provide a place for
stroke victims to sell
their crafts and keep the
"Club" self-sufficient.
This club program is to
run Wednesdays from 10
am to 4 pm in conjunction
with the Outreach
Program at Huronview.
Volunteers are
urgently needed for the
program -men as well as
women. The volunteers
are needed to oversee
exercises, direct in the
carpentry shop, oversee
kitchen activities and
organize recreational
activities. Volunteers
need not. be involved for
the entire day as the
intended schedule is
broken into segments.
Two or three volunteers
are needed to oversee
organization of the
program and drivers
may also be needed.
This program will be
conducted one day a week
by volunteers supervised
by Mrs. St. Jean.
Members will probably
arrive at the Day Care
Centre at 10:00 am and
take part in mat ac-
tivities at 10:15. A series
of exercises have been
selected which will
maintain and attempt to
increase muscle
strength, range of motion
and co-ordination. There
will be a rest period on
the mats at 10:45. The
exercise program will
continue at 11. There will
be a rest period again at
11:45.
Lunch will be from 12 to
1 pm. Woodworking and
crafts will be conducted
at 1 pm. Specific crafts
will be selected that will
maintain range of
motion, muscle strength,
and co-ordination.
There will be a
discussion group at 2: 30
pm. People can get
together and discuss:
self-help aids, energy
conservation-, how to
prepare a newsletter, and
ways to sell crafts. There
will be guest speakers
and films. -
