Goderich Twp. council
5 estates for Benmiller
BY SHIRLEY J. KELLER
Developer Jim Morris of Goderich,
and architect Nick Hill, also of
Goderich, have received approval from
Goderich Township Council for the
severances Morris will need to build
five estate residences at Benmiller.
There are some conditions attached
to the approval, however•- The
developer has been requested to pay a
sum of $2,500 representing five per
cent of the land value, to the township.
This is according to the planning act
which specifies that in the case of a new,
development, the developer must give
the municipality either five per cent of
the land for recreation purposes, or
cash representing five per cent of the
value of the development land.
Goderich Township in this instance,
requested the money which it is un-
derstood will be applied to recreational
facilities in the township.
A second condition applies, that a
new road to service the new develop-
ment be built by the developer in ac-
cordance with township and
engineering standards. A paved road is
called for under the township
agreement.
In other business, council members
approved tile drain loans requested by
H.B. Whitely, E,U. Mcllwain and
'Chester Sturdy. They also approved
building permits as follows: Ed Szusz,
swimming pool; Fred Van Marr, two
silos and an addition to his barn;
Gordon Johnston, workshop; Stanley
Freeman, barn demolition; Nick Den
Boer,^ corn crib; Philip Bugler,

and Don Forbes, verandah.
'The tender of Radford Construction
to load and spread 17,000 yards of
gravel at 55 per yard and another 2,000
yards at $1.10 was accepted by council.
It was the lowest of three tenders.

hour to clean out an open portion of a
land drain, as tendered by council: Two
