Canned Fruit
Salad
16 qt. basket pears
16 qt. basket peaches
1 large cantelope
3 grapefruit
6 oranges
1 jar maraschino cherries
Peel and cut fruit into
cubes. Make syrup of 5
cups sugar and 10 cups
ter. When boiling add
it (except cherries)
and juice. Add cherries
after other is boiled. Put
into sealers.
Mustard Pickles
3 cups chopped
cucumbers
2 cups whole little
cucumbers
2 cups chopped opions
2 cups small silver onions
1/ cup chopped sweet red
peppers
Cgmbine; 1 qt. water
and'1/2 cup salt, pour over
vegetables and let stand
overnight. Drain well.
Add:
1 cup diced celery
11/2 cups chopped tart
apples
1V1ix together:
4 cups granulated sugar
1/ cup mustard seed
ne third cup all purpose
lour
1/2 cup mustard
1 tbsp turmeric
1/2 cup water
3 cups cider vinegar
Add to the vegetables and
boil 3 to 5 minutes. Seal.

Social notes.
At the Vanastra. Fair on
Saturday, August .26 a
bake sale will be held to
help set up a Block
Parents Program in
September. For those
who haven't heard of
Block Parents, it is a
program in which the
children of the com-
munity are protected
against harassment on
'the street 'from child
molesters, bullies etc. or
if they are in need of
emergency assistance.
We are attempting to
raise, funds to offset the
initial costs of
establishing the program
throughout our
elementary schools.
Since Block Parents is a
benefit to each child in
the community we are
counting on your whole-
hearted support. Any
donations of baking will
be greatly appreciated

Although the crowd at the town hall was less than
large on Monday night, further steps were taken
into the formation of the Clinton and Vanastra
District Big Brothers Association. With 16 people
present, a board of directors was formed and the
constitution was accepted.
student housing planned for Centralia
Huron -Middlesex MPP
Jack Riddell said last
week that tenders are
now being called for
construction of a students
residence at Centralia
College of Agricultural
Technology at Huron
Park.
The student residence
is required by the Ontario
Ministry of Agriculture
and Food to provide
modern and expanded
facilities for year-round
use of students at the
college.
A single structure it
will contain a series of
five pods, each providing
accommodation for 40
students and one
supervisor. The pods will
be linked by a walkway at
ground level. This walk -

existing Huron Hall. The
entrance will lead
directly to a common
administration area

The heated and air
conditioned structure will
have a gross floor area of
approximately 57,000
square feet.
Specifications also call
for load bearing concrete
block walls with brick
facing, double glazed
windows, precast con-
crete floor, steel deck and
beam frames for the roof
and site services that
include a paved access
road and landscaping.
Design and con-
struction documents have
been prepared by
associate architect Paul
M. Skinner, London.
It is anticipated con-
struction will be com-
pleted by September 1980.
