Hellinga and Herman Greidanus. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Hellinga of RR 1, Londesboro and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Greidanus. Rev. T. Hoogsteen conducted the double ring ceremony and Mr. Dotterer provided the organ music. ' OThe bride wore a polyester sheer sata peu • gown which featured a horseshoe neckline with two tiers over the shoulders. The gown also featured' an empire waistline with a skirt of two tiers of frill adorning the bottomof the dress. yellow• sweetheart roses, yellow and white daisies and coloured baby's breath. The maid of honor, Janet Hellinga, sister of the bride, wore a gown of blue floral material. An off -the -shoulder gathered capulet and cummerbund were midnight blue coloured. The gowns featured a large flounce around the bottom. She carried a nosegay of yellow and white daisies with a haze of blue baby's breath and dried flowers. She also wore white and yellow daisies and blue dried flowers in her. hair. A pearl necklace, a gift from the bride and groom completed her ensemble. RETIREMENT -PARTY About 100 relatives and friends attended the retirement party for Mrs. Gordon Dobie last Saturday evening in the Community Memorial hall. Her family spon- sored the happy occasion. Dancing was enjoyed to records played by her grandchildren and Gerald Dobie paid high tribute to their mother. Bill;- Jannett and Ross all joined her along with her husband Gordon to receive the applause from all. Many gifts were received and a bountiful smorgasbord was served by members of her family,"Mr. and Mrs. Bill Dobie, Goderich; Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Dobie, Goderich; Mr. and Mrs. Donald Rea, Listowel; and Mr. and Mrs. Ross Dobie, RR3 Auburn. Guests were present from Toronto, Wingham, Bluevale, Listowel, Bayfield, Clinton, Goderich and the surrounding district. Warner Andrews returned home last Saturday, after spending three weeks at Sibald, Alberta and attending the threshermen's reunion at Saskatoon, Saskat- chewan; Austin, Manitoba; and Rivers, Manitoba. Mr. and Mis. Donald Haines. Kenneth McDougall and his son Allan McDoukall visited last Wednesday with relatives at Hanover and Meaford. Several from here attended the special 100th anniversary at Blyth Trinity Church last Sunday. Mrs. William Maines of Goderich and Miss Shirley Maines of Cobourg visited last Saturday with Mr. and. Mrs. Tom Johnston and Miss Laura Phillips. We are sorry to report that Mrs. John Korstanje is a patient in Wingham hospital. Alvin Wightman of Niagara Falls visited last Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. Tom Johnston and Miss Laura Phillips. JR. FARMERS ENTERTAIN The Auburn -Junior Farmers entertained at Maitland Manor Nursing Home, Goderich. As the group entered the room filled with several of the residents, the Junior Farmer song was sung, Singing was the theme for this month's entertainmend.• The Junior Farmers scattered in various places among the residents. Several songs were then sung throughout the evening by the Junior Farmers, Music was supplied by Jean Siertsema at the piano and by Sherry Marshall on the guitar. A duet was sung by, these two girls and as well Marsha Alton sang a song while playing her guitar. This evening was also used to celebrate the birthdays of those residents who had celebrated a birthday in the month of July.. The Junior Farmers ended their evening by singing Happy Birthday to these residents. Presents were handed out to those celebrating birthdays. Two • nicely decorated birthday cakes were br ugh't in and Junior ,Falmer member Dano Bean -blewout the can- dles. Cake and refresh- ments were served to the residents by the Junior Farmers. 4-H NEWS The Auburn 4-H Garden Club held the fourth meeting at the home of Mrs. Tom Cunningham. The meeting was opened with the 4-H pledge followed by the roll call which was an- swered by naming one vegetable they had served .to their family. The members decided to have a party on July 31 at 7 p.m. Mrs. Cunningham demonstrated how to can tomatoes and the .girls learned the basic procedure. The fifth meeting of the Auburn 4-H Garden Club was held at the home of one of the leaders, Mrs. Tom Cunningham; roll call was answered by bringing two of one vegetable. Endive, let- tuce, beans, peas, beets and parsley were the vegetables brought to show. Debbie Cunningham and Barbara Gross are to be in charge of the club exhibit. Marilyn Archambault and Annette Lesereit will speak on the exhibit on Achievement Day on August 16 at Clinton. Record books have to be in by August 2. Don, Betty and Brad Duff returned Wednesday from touring the Carl Haa's racing formula car factory in Hyland Park, Illinois. Mr. Haa's major formula car and go-cart racers compete In USA and Canada.
