It seems like only a few years ago that these cars left the showrooms in
sparkling condition. Last week they were reduced to pancakes ready for the
smelter as a presser was working at Clere-Vu Auto Wreckers. After pressing in
the 5,000 pound per square inch machine, powered by a 200 -horse diesel, this
1968 Chev. is reduced to a 16 -inch deep heap of metal. (News -Record photo)

After pressing the old wrecks, the cars are piled up in heaps and will be loaded
on a truck and sent to a Hamilton steel foundry where some of the metal will be
Salvaged. Some 400 cars succumbed to the crushing grip of the presser. Cars

July WI meeting was
held on Wednesday July
12 at 8 p.m. in the hall.
The meeting opened with
the ode; with Hat'ti Wood
at ithe piano. First vice
president Alice Buchanan
conducted the meeting,
welcomed all with some
thoughts. Roll call was
answered with memories
of an earlier plowing
match with 20 members
and 4 visitors presetn.
Minutes of. June
meeting were read by
secretary treasurer
Marjorie Anderson.
Duets were sun by Lisa
and Kelly Bosman, ac-
companied by their
mother on the piano.
Correspondence was
from 4-I-1 project for fall
Essential Edibles, leaders
will be Hattie Snell, Kitty
McGregor and Marjorie
Duizer. A thank you was
received from Florence
Cartwright, Myrtle Keys;
Flowers of Hope and a
letter from plowing
match explaining the
WI's duties.
Marg Anderson gave
the- social committee
report on graduation
banquet and thanked all

Congratulations to
Gerda Brand who while
playing her accordian
won first prize at Music
Fest held at Holiday Inn
in Toronto. This is the
third time Gerda has won
the adjudicator award.
