On Friday, July 21 at 2 p.m. at MacKay Hall, 10 Nelson St., Goderich, there will be a puppet show "The Wizard of Oz" - admission free. And on Saturday July 22 at 1 p.m. in the Clinton Town Hall the Clinton Library is presenting an afternoon of films, mostly Walt Disney. Admission is also free. That's the library activity for this week - but we hear there is more to come. Under the capable leadership of Marian Doucette - it seems her young charges will be developing their culinary skills as they whip up some cool and refreshing delicacies for a cooking contest. More on that later. Hospital renovations Health Minister Dennis Timbrell recently an- nounced approval for 'a renovation project at Alexandra Marine 'and General Hospital, Goderich. The hospital project will upgrade fire protection. through replacement of its laundry building. Two-thirds of the ap- proved cost of the project will be funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health. Project planning will begin immediately with completion expected this fall. Timbrell • also an- nounced approval for a renovation project at the Clinton Public Hospital. The project consists of upgrading various areas in the hospital to meet current fire safety standards. The Ontario Ministry of Health will fund two- thirds of the approved costs of the project. Planning for the project will commence immediately with con- struction expected to begin in the present fiscal year. Garry ' Hunter, Huron County's newly-appbilnted crown attorney, takes his oath of allegiance at an official swearing in ceremony held at the Huron County Court House on Tuesday morning before Provincial Court Judge William Cochrane (left) and Huron County Court Judge F.G. The first accident occurred Sunday at 1155 a.m., nine kilometres south of Vanastra on Highway 4, Tuckersmith' Township. James S. MacFarlane, 21,, of London was driving southbound at a high speed after just passing a car. He swerved to the left to avoid "a creature of unknown description" and entered the east shoulder. He then lost control and entered the ditch. The driver and a passenger, Susan Deane, 18, of London, were taken by Seaforth ambulance to Clinton hospital. They were treated for minor injuries and released. F.Total 4amage to the car was$2,500. ` The other incident occurred Saturday at 10:45 p,m., on County Road 17, three kilometres west of Highway' 4, Hullett Township. Shirley R. Roberts, 33, of R.R, 1 Londesboro, was driving a pick-up truck eastbound on 17 when an ,nimal ran in front of the truck. She swerved to miss it, and caused $2,600 damage to the vehicle. ' Auburn social news Mrs. Ronald Rathwell of Blenheim and her. mother, Mrs. Celia Taylor of Goderich visited last Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Johnston and Miss Laura Phillips. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Livermore, Robbie, Donald and Philip of Fordwich and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Haines of Niagara Falls visited on the weekend with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Haines'. Auburn Warren's Missionary group meet The July meeting of the Auburn Presbyterian Women's Missionary Society was held at the home of Mrs. Eleanor Bradnock with the president Mrs. Wilfred Sanderson in charge. After the call to wor- ship, the hymn 0 Word of God Incarnate, was read. The devotional period was in the charge of Mrs. Frances Clark. She chose James.2: 1 to 14 verses as her scripture lesson. This was read alternately. The meditation had the theme, Love, Justice and Faith followed by prayer. The roll call was an- swered by a Bible verse containing the word, Faith. A reading, God's great Love was given by Mrs. Donald Cartwright. The mission study, The Church Women in Taiwan; was given by Mrs. Roy Daer and closed with prayer. The hymn Saviour, Blessed Saviour, Listen While We Sing, was read and this was followed by a reading by Mrs. Ed Davies. A letter from Mrs. Terrell Boyes, the former Laura Collar of Wingham, a missionary for the L'Arabian Fellowship in Israel was read by Mrs. Frank Raithby. The minutes of the June meeting were accepted as read by the secretary, Mrs. Lilliaa'n'"Leatherland. The financial statement was given by the treasurer, Mrs. Frances Clark. The offering was received by Rhonda Stadelmann and dedicated with prayer by Mrs. Sanderson. Mts. Sanderson thanked all who had taken part and closed the meeting with the hymn, Abide With Me, Fast Falls the Eventide. After singing the grace, lunch was served by Mrs. Frank Raithby, Christine Stadelmann and Mrs. Bradnock. SOCIAL NEWS Mr. Fred Wagner arrived home last week after being a patient in Victoria Hospital.
