News from, the church
This past Sunday, we
had a special service.
Karon Jeacock professed
her faith and was ac-
cepted into full mem-
bership. After she was
asked some questions the
congregation pledged to
support her in her new
commitments.
At the time of her
confirmation classes, she
also completed the fourth
stage of her "Religion
and Life" merit badge
for , Girl Guides. Rev.
Boersma made the
special presentation to
Sharon's recipe corner
Baked peaches -
Wash, cut in half and
remove pits from firm
ripe peaches. Place in
cooking utensil and put
one teaspoon white syrup
or honey on each peach
half.
Sprinkle with cin-
namon, nutmeg or cloves.
Cover and place on
medium heat until lid, is.
very hot to touch. Reduce
heat to low and continue
cooking 20 to 25 minutes.
Pears can also be done
this way, allowing a few
minutes extra baking
time.
Helpful hints
Tea to be used for iced
tea should not be
refrigerated as this
causes it to cloud. Tea
that is too strong will
cloud also. Add a little
boiling water and
cloudiness will clear.
Use ice water when
washing berries of any
kind. This will preserve
both flavour and natural
colour.
To improve flavour and
help sweeten acid 'fruits
when cooking them, add a
pinch of salt.
Fruits for salads, such
as apples, bananas, and
pears, should be
sprinkled with lemon
juice as soon as they are
cut. Then cover closely to
preserve vitamins.
