Retiring Clinton
Hospital• purchasing
officer Jack Reid and
Edith were honored on
the evening of June 30 at

from R1 5 gathered to
wish the couple health

present them with a set of
lawn furniture. After the
guests enjoyed swim-
ming, a cold plate lunch
was served by the
hostess.

Peter Glen and Bobby
Brown and his Orchestra.
The former has had
television appearances
on '"The Robert Burns
Special", the popular
"Pig and Whistle" show
and also ,the CBC's
"Ceilidh".
Bobby. Brown's life has
been rich in the music
and folklore of his native
'Scotland. The "Road to
the Isles Show" of which
he is . Musical Director
has been and still is an
integral part 'of The
Scottish World Festival
at the Canadian National
Exhibition.
To all lovers of Scottish
music this concert should
be a must. There is also a
dance following the shdw.

Park on, Monday afternoon as these two sisters
enjoyed the exciting rides on the slide. Sheila
Carter, 6, had a good hold on her sister Tracy, 2, as

A number of liquor
charges were tried at
Clinton court on July 5
and as a result, a number
of fines were handed out.
Robert . Hart, Chris
Middleton, Richard
Ducharme and Michael
Cooper, all received in-
dividual fines of $54 for
charges of minors having
liquor. As well, Thomas
Adamson, Kevin
Paterson, Bradley Duff,
William McMillan, John
Howard, James Thistle,
Michael Quinn, Tony Van
Dyke and Kevin Paterson
were each fined $54 in
separate charges of
having liquor.
Patricia" Hubert
received a $103 fine for
careless •driving along
with a $28 fine for not
having a license and an
additional $28 fine for not
wearing a seatbelt.
Unnecessary noise
fines of $78 . went to Al
Kaciulis, Clarence
Dekens, Douglas
Falconer and Mark Shaw
for individual charges.
Steven Walsh was fined,
$37.50 for a speeding
charger , Keith McLean
was fined $51 for speeding
and $28 for failure to
produce identification.
John Anderson received a
$48 fine for speeding.
A $28 fine went to
-.Douglas Elder for a
charge of not turning in
safety. Jean Taylor was
fined '$28 for failure to
yield and Gerrard
Gredanus was fined $28
for having an unfit
vehicle.
Former native graduates
Frank Paul McKay of
London, a graduate of
Elborn Teachers College,
received his Bachelor of
Education degree on
June 5 from . the
University of Western
Ontario.
He received his
Bachelor of Arts degree
in Physical Education at
the fall convocation in
1977 from the ' same
university.

This summer in ad-
dition to the summer
reading program
"Discover the Magic
Kingdom of Books", the
Huron County Public
Library is sponsoring a
"Bookmark" Contest.
The contest which started
July 3 and ends August 25
is open to children from
ages • 6 to 13. Entrants
may 'draw anything -they
wish --a picture, a pattern
of lines or shapes,
anything as long as the
design is drawn in either
black wax crayon, black
felt pen, orblack ink and
is,original I
All entries for the
Clinton Public Library
will be put up on display
and , prizes will be
presented at the end of
August. The winning
,bookmarks will be used
throughout the county
libraries. Entry forms for
this contest may be
picked up at the - cir-
culation desk of the
Clinton Library.
The response to our
summer reading
program has been quite
good; but there is still
room for more members.
Interested children up to
13 years ' of agemay
register at any time.
On Saturday at 1 p.m.
those children age 8 to 13
who wish to attend out
activity program will
meet in the Children's
Department. There we
will be completing work ,
on our storybook murales
and anyone interested in
joining in on ,the fun is
invited todoso;,
At 2:30 pm nn Satur-
day, the younger children
will meet in the library
for their regular craft
and story hour. Visitors
staying with grand-
parents or friends in the
community are more
than welcome to attend
any of our programs.
Once more this sum-
mer at the library, we are
saving IMPORTANT
JUNK so don't throw
your valuables out, bring
them to the library as we -
can use them in our craft
programs.' In addition to
egg cartons, milk cartons
arid material scraps, we
are trying to build up a
collection of old hats to be
used at our Mad Hatters
Tea Party later this
summer, so if you have
any old hats lying about
your home, donate them
to the library.

Fred Edwards, 36, of
Clinton was sentenced to
40 days in Stratford jail
as the result of an assault
charge and 'breach of
recognizance, the Clinton
Police report. .
Edwards received his
sentence after a July 7
incident where he struck
Beth Wolfe of 111 John
St., Clinton. She received
a broken nose and badly
blackened eye.
As well, Edwards was
given, another 30 days in
jail for a previous assault
on the. same woman as
well as an assault on a
_well
officer and causing
a disturbance. Edwards
will serve both jail terms
co4psecutively.
The police also
reported a case of willful
damage when on July 10
between midnight and 9
a.m. the plate glass door
at the Brewer's Retail
Store on Mill St., Clinton
was broken.
Two bottles of beer -had
been thrown at the door,
although no attempts to
enter the building were
made.
As , well, sometime
between July 9 and 10,
someone went to Jack
Peck's garage parking
area and smashed the
front windshield of a car
parked there with either
a rock or sledge hammer.
The vehicle owned by
Kenneth Liebold of RR2
Clinton had. been left
there on July 8 and. was
discovered by police the
next day.

that Spence Cummings,
the caynty's development

announced last week.
