On June G6 at the
Vanastra Christian
Church there aas a.,
public meeting sponsored
by the Resource 'Centre.
The speaker was Mr. Al
Sinclair from the
Ministry of Culture and
Recreation. Mr. Sinclair
outlined to the com-
munity what resources
the Ministry has
available for growing
communities.
Some of the. various
resources pertinent to the'
community of Vanastra
were: Heritage
restoration of buildings,
marking sites and
publishing costs; in
sports and fitness, they
have coaching clinics,
players clinics, spon-
soring 50 per cent of
equipment; in Leader-'
ship 4 Skills, providing
assistance .financially
and also skilled people in
developing groups to
develop leadership skills.
It was suggested to Mr.
Sinclair that what was
needed for this com-
munity was a feasibility
span, find out what we
need and how to go about
making an inventory of
these, and how-to proceed
with developing
programs once this was
done' Mr. Sinclair said he
could' make himself
available again, at a
community conference
where these inventories
could be made, and once
this was done, begin
planning to meet these
needs.
Some of the general
needs stated by the group
were a stronger voice
outside the community,
lack of community
organization. Many
people felt that . what
Vanastra was battling
wa5ya perception in. the
medra'te., area; Also
liow can the community
effect change.

What are you doing the
rest of your life?
Projections of today's
statistics show that eight~
out of ten high school
girls will spend 25 years
or more in the workforce,
When confronted with"
this forecast, many girls
will assume that they will
be one of the lucky two
whose Prince Charming
will deposit her in a
suburban castle. with a
two car. garage,, --wall to
wall carpeting and two or
three, little charming
children, there to live
happily ever after. ..
However, our dreams
do not always come true.
Due to inflation and
financial pressures, plus
the changing role of
women in society, more
and more women will
make up the labour force.
Some girls will not
marry. One out of three
marriages end in divorce.
Some will ,lose the
financial support of their
husbands through death
,or disability.
^ Starting July 10th at 7
pm at the Vanastra
Resource Centre located
rii''the Vanastra Christian
Church, a program
designed to look at these
fantasies and real life
planning. All interested
girls.,ge 13-18 will look at

styles and marriage. The
program will last for five
one hour sessions on
successive Mondays.
Church news
July will prove to be an
exciting month in
Vanastra. The month was
ushered in by a holiday
weekend. On the first
Sunday of the . .month,
Rev. Karel Boer:srna
gave' his first°message of
a two' part series on
"Being in debt." The
source of the theme
comes 'from the petition
in the Lord's Prayer:
"Forgive us our
trespasses as we forgive
those who trespass
against us."
The S.W.I.M. team
gave the rill to worship
and also provided the
Deliverance part of the
service. -
Bible School is also
another exciting part of
the month of July.

01 -HIP HAS REFUSED to pay a
chiropractor's bill on the grounds I wasn't
covered. Yet ! went ,immediately from one
job to another with only two weeks vacation
in between.. This hits me hard as I am the --
only wage earner -my husband is on old age
security pension. All I can find out by
calling OH I P is that my coverage was
cancelled. Can you help me or at least, get
an explanation?
OUR READER didn't take steps ahead of
time to make sure her coverage was con-
tinuous from one lob -to the, next. One
month's premium was not paid and thus
bills during That month were refused.
Because of the situation, however, if she
pays the missing month's premium, OHI P
will process her claim for chiropractic

My husband bought a new Volkswagen
Rabbit in April. After the first couple of
months, it seems the car has been in the
service department more than on the road.
What's worse is that the problem still hasn't
been solved.
Can you help get this straightened out once
and for all?
Rabbit's hopping like new again. After our
call, the V.W. manager set up repair ap-
pointment, was on hand to watch service
crew install new carburetor and correct
reason for Rabbit's punchlessness.
Dealership also provided transportation to
work day car was being fixed.
He said repair -s would've been completed
sooner if he had been aware of repeated
trips to dealership, which he blamed on
"someone who was trying to get off easy."

WAY BACK last August we signed a con-
tract for some eavestrough repairs and new
downspouts. The contract specified the
work would be done in 10 weeks.
They didn't arrive until February, when ice
and snow .made the job impossible. After
several phone calls4110 turned up on May
lst. The next morning a representative
came to collect the money.
The work crew had said it would return
after the first rainfall to inspect possible
leaks. They never showed.
"THE WORKMEN ADMITTED they had
forgotten about us," our reader, reports.
After our query they telephoned our reader
and showed up at her home. "Our
eavestroughs are all repaired now, and we
don't anticipate any trouble," she writes.
