Clinton men honored at retirement party Two long -time employees of the Clinton Public Hospital were honored at -retirement parties last. week. Last Wednesday, Fred MacDonald, who retires after 17 years as chief engineer, and Jack Reid, Who retired after 12 years as purchasing agent, were honored by the staff. • A cake was cut, and each received gifts" from the hospital staff. ' Mr. Reid was also honored at a party given by friends at R.R. 5, Clinton at the home of Frank Pike on Friday, June 30, when 10 couples attended. The following poem was written by Mary Brown in honor of Mr. Reid's retirement: Itaall began in '42 When' I was first in Airforce blue, And 'marching and drill was something new. From ITS came a knowledgeable crew Of drill instruction on what to do: Our instructor Jack Reid was°young and full of pep He always tried to keep me in step, But it's been going on far too long, I fear And now Jack, it's your turn at the rear. So there on parade we learned to obey commands Jack barked and yelled and made great demands; In fact, was,so loud that it is said He awoke the airmen at the Horse Palace from their bed! The next time I met our retiring guest _ He was Clinton's Station Warrant Officer And would you believe - at the sound of his bark Although a civilian, I was back on the ta4'mac! But when he moved next door to us You've never seen such a great fuss We're still trying to keep up this hectic pace But each day the Browns lose the competitive race. There's gardening, weeding, trim mingiiid dusting For grass to grow higher and bugs today dying; There's cleaning and sewing and baking and talking Is there no end to this airforce regimentating? As if this pace was not hard enough to take We had trailers adjacent at camp at the lake; We'd move children and dogs to sit out in the sun Or go biking or swimming - just keep on the run. Back and forth we'd commute - between work, home or trailer Yon'd think you'd learn you couldn't keep up to this feller! Jack will you please give your neighbours a break? Forget the old airforce ways - if only for our sake! And smile as you rock - and tell Edith to stop And recall how you've kept those Browns on the hop. s,. As our lives seem destined to be intertwined At this stage in the game, I really won't mind If you slow down and say: "I'm nota young buck" And we'll say on retirement: "Jack and Ede, Lots of Luck!
