Card of thanks HAYTER: In Clinton Public Hospital on Thursday, June 15, 1978, Minnie Emily (Tippet) Hayter beloved wife of the late William Joseph Hayter in her 81st year. Dear mother of Elmer J. Hayter, RR 1, Varna, Harvey C. Hayter, RR 1, Varna, Mrs. Kenneth (Eileen) McLean, RR 2, Hensall. Dear sister of Mrs. Myrtle Pease of London and Mrs. Rita Upshall of Bayfield. Eleven grand- children, twenty-three great- grandchildren survive. One brother pre -deceased. Rested at the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hensall, Ontario until Sunday, June 18 where funeral service was held at 2:30 p.m. with Rev. MILLER: I wish to thank all my relatives, friends and neighbours for the cards and flowers received during my recent stay in Clinton hospital. Special thank you to Dr. Lambert, Dr. Harrett and all the nurses and staff at the hospital. Step dancing - 12 and under, first, Betty McKinley, Zurich • Local officials had prime seating locations to look over the activities of the J-Iensall spring fair on Tuesday evening. MP Bob McKinley and his wife, MPP, Jack Riddell and his wife, Huron Warden Jerry Ginn and his wife, Bruce Rath - well, fair president had the vantage point when they rode through town in a parade to the fairgrounds. (News -Record photo) Hensall personal notes By Bertha MacGregor Mr. and Mrs. Joe Flynn returned home after a week on a camping trip to Balsam Lake. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Muir, students at Huron College, conducted the Service in Carmel Presbyterian Church on Sunday, both delivering inspiring messages. Misses Beatrice and Mary Thompson sang a duet "The Church In the Wildwood" and a trio Misses Brenda Pepper, Beatrice and Mary Thompson sang "The Fountain Over the Hilltop". Miss Brenda - Pepper presided at the organ during the service. There will be no service in Carmel Church on Sunday June 25 as Cromarty will be having their anniversary ser- vice. John J. Boa dies John J. Boa, formerly of this district, late of Goderich, died in Victoria Hospital, ‘London at the age of60. Born in Usborne Township, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. William James Boa, and has resided in Goderich for the last 30 years. He was a miner with Sifto Salt and served with the 9th Canadian Forrester Corps in North West Europe 1941-1945. He married Margaret A. Brindley in Kirkland Lake. She survives him. He was an adherent of Victoria United Church, Goderich, and is survived by two step -children, Mrs. Bev Doll and Allen Brindley RR 2 Goderich; and two -brothers, Malcom of London, and Alex of Goderich. He was predeceased by four brothers and one sister. The Royal Canadian Branch No. 109 held a service at Stiles Funeral Home on Saturday June 3 with Rev. John D. Wood officiating. Interment was in Colborne Cemetery. Engagements Wednesday June 14th with Mrs. Malcom Dougall presiding and welcomed the guests from Zurich United Church, Barbara Kirk- man & afternoon Auxiliary, Seaforth, Senior W.M.S. and Marion Ritchie group. , Cromarty, Caven Presbyterian Women's Society & Gordon Auxiliary, Anglican Women of Hensall, Arnold Circle Evening Auxiliary and Associate members and Ladies' of Carmel Church. Mrs. Dougall opened the meeting with a verse "More Beyond". Hymns were sung during the program with Mrs. Edith Bell at the piano. Mrs. Esther Wright and Mrs. Rochus Faber were in Mr. and Mrs. Harold Gross Auburn are pleased to an- nounce the forthcoming marriage of their daughter, Carol to Larry Lovett son of Mr. and Mrs. Ross Lovett, Londesboro. The wedding to take place July 8, 1978 in Auburn United Church at 4:30 p.m.-25nc 30. Mrs. Perc Campbell thanked the speaker and soloist and Mrs. Dougall thanked all taking part with the Devotional and the lunch. Minnie Hayter dies Mrs. Minnie Emalie (Tippet) Hayter passed Johnson and Andrew Moore. Flower bearers were John Glazier, Bill Brindley, John Banter, Howard S male. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Corbitt visited recently with their son-in-law and daughter, Mr.and Mrs. Robert Chaffe and family at Mitchell. The pallbearers for the late Mrs. Minnie Hayter were Allan Hayter Gerald Hayter, Robert Hayter, Glenn Hayter, Ray McLean and Larry McLean. Flower bearers were Donna McBeath, Joyce McBeath, Anne Lavis, Gwen Devereaux, Julie McBeath, Darlene Hayter. - second, Jeff Bender, Watford; third, Shirley Miller, Staffa. Step dancing 26 and over - Leonard Clark, London; Ernie Lapaim, Simcoey; Murray Currah, Bright's Grove. TSI host 4-H club By Hilda M. Payne The Hensall Women's Institute met in the Legion Hall on Wed- nesday, June 14 for a pot- luck supper. The members of the three 4-H clubs were guests for the evening. They displayed their books, knitting, crocheting and quilting etc., and gave a run-down of their meetings during the last project, "Focus on Living". This included mental and emotional health, filling leisure time with hobbies such as quilting, knitting and crocheting, photography, reading, indoor gardening, music, art and theatre, citizenship endeavours, a field trip to the wild life sanctuary near Seaforth, safety consciousness inside and outside the home, health and exer- cise and diet. Each girl in Club one gave a short reading on some of these activities. Club two had an exhibit on building fOr the future which included exercise, food, sleep and,especially a good breakfast. Club three spoke about the environment and told about a field trip in the pinery and then leader Betty Beer played two numbers on the guitar and sang as well, "Leaving on a jet plane", and "If you love me 'let me know it". The meeting was chaired by president, Mrs. Joyce Pepper and correspondence was read from the committee putting on the bake sale in aid of the Nursery School asking for help, and an invitation to visit the A.R.C. Industries. Mrs. Nellie Riley 'presented the treasurer's report in her absence and a motion was passed to pay all bills and pay for the programs to be printed for the coming year. Mrs. Hilda Payne consented to type the programs again ,his year. Donations to the United Church and Milt Lavery were voted on and rent for the use of the kitchen -at the Legion Hall. Gifts were presented to the 4-H leaders for their interest in the girls. .. An Executive meeting will be held at the home of the President on June 27 at 7:15 p.m. Articles for the Zurich and Exeter Fairs were discussed. A sing -song was held during the evening. Program convenors were Mrs. Pearl Koehler and Mrs. Elsie Carlile and the lunch committee con- sisted of Mrs. Edna Pepper and Mrs. Madeline Harburn. Ignited church news By Hilda M. Payne The service at the United Church on Sunday was conducted by Rev. Don Beck with Dr. Ralph Topp at the organ and Mrs. Marianne McCaf- frey as choir director. The subject of the sermon was, "On Christian Growth" and was based on the parable of the sower. The small choir gave a resounding rendering of the anthem, "Sing to the Lord a Marvelous Sound" by Butler and Dr. and Mrs. Ralph Topp were welcomed into the congregation as full members. Next Sunday will be Mr. Beck's final\service as pastor of Hensall and Chislehurst congregations. The Sacrament of Infant Paptism will be' ad- ministered at the Hensall service. New residents \ie welcome new residents to Elizabeth Court, Hensall including Mrs. Ruby Bell who has moved into town from RR 1, Hensall and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Flegel from §trathroy, Mr. Ralph Rea from Kitchener, Clayton Urbshott from Hanover and Mr. and Mrs. Don Hoggarth and family from Port Elgin.
