Douglas Plaskett united in marriage, Linda Sharon Hardy and Thomas William Kirkham. The bride is the only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Hardy, Guelph and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. R. Kirkham, Guelph. The bride, given in marriage by her parents was accompanied up the aisle of the church by the music of the organist, Doreen Munro. The matron of honour was Mrs. Peter (Sherry) Postmas, Clinton, a cousin of the bride. The bridesmaids were Ann Leitch, Guelph and Ruth Stevens, Toronto, friends of the bride. The duties of the groomsman were at- tended most graciously by the groom's friend, Flcyd Baker, Rockwood as were those of the ushers John and Norman Kirkham, Guelph, brothers of the groom. The bride and groom left the church after the ceremony through an honor guard of Boy Scouts from Troop Number 21, of which the groom is a Scout master. A three tiered cake made by the bride's great aunt, Mrs. Eilfred (Verna) Glazier of Londesboro and decorated by another great aunt, Mrs. F.W. (Sally) Casler, adorned the head table at the wedding dinner and reception held at the Rockmosa Community Centre, Rockwood. Following the recep- tion, the newlyweds left for a wedding trip to Ottawa and northern New Brunswick. Upon their return the couple will make their home on Normandy Drive, Guelph. Wedding guests were present from Toronto, London, Ingersoll,, Clinton, Londesboro, Welland, Peterborough, Milverton, Niagara Falls, Barrie, Fergus, Waterloo, Cambridge, Georgetown, Breslau, Rockwood, Hillsburgh, Eden Mills, Caledonia', Woodstock and Detroit. Married in Florida A quiet ceremony, Saturday June 17, celebrated the wedding of Walter J. Palmer of Clinton and Frances Shiver of Winter Haven, Florida. The First Methodist Church in Lake Wales, Florida was the setting for the late afternoon event which was attended by an intimate gathering of guests. A vacation through the Southeast United States was embarked upon by the newlyweds following the ceremony. On their return the couple will reside at RR 1, Clinton. Huronview news The Reverend Norman Pick of the Ontario Street United Church, Clinton, was in charge of the Sunday morning service at Huronview. The Huronview Chaplain, the Reverend W. H. McWhinnie attended a convention in Sarnia. The North Huron Loyal Orange Lodge arranged a service in the auditorium at Huronview on Sunday evening. The Reverend Wittack of the Blyth United Church was guest speaker for the service and Mr. Robe'it Hibbert read the lesson. The residents enjoyed sacred numbers by a group of musicians with guitars and accordion. Two new residents, Mrs. Cornell and Mr. -Ephriam Clarke, were welcomed to Huronview at Monday's program. Marie Flynn, Lorne Lawson, Elsie Hen- derson, Norman Speir and Cecil Skinner • provided the Old Tyme music. Debbie Flynn entertained with step - dancing. The Clinton Christian Reform volunteers' assisted with activities. The Londesboro Women's Institute were hosts for ,the June Bir- thday Party at Huronvies on Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Marjorie Duizer was,emcee for the party. The program included accordion solos by Genevieve Allen, readings by Myrtle Fairservice and piano solos by Gail Lear. Danny Lear entertained with vocal -and guitar solos. The celebrants were presented with a gift from the Institute and 150 residents and guests were served birthday cake and tea by the ladies. Mrs. Leybourne, who celebrated her ninetieth birthday in June, thanked the Institute on behalf of the residnets. Street United plans outdoor service Ontario Street UCW executive met at 8 p,m. Tues., June 13, and completed plans for the outdoor church service and picnic to be held at the Conservation Park, south of Clinton, June 25 at 11 a.m. Bring your own dishes, cutlery, beverage and food for the smorgasbord lunch that will follow the service. You may want to bring your own lawn chairs or a blanket. In case of rain, it will be held in the church. A committee of six, two from each unit, will meet early in September to make plans for the 1978 bazaar. Mrs. Wilfred Parker read the treasurer's report, and it was decided to send a donation to Arc ;Industries at Dashwood, and a donation to the Huron -Perth Presbyterial to help defray their expenses for cookies and coffee to be served at the Fall plowing match. A letter from our Foster child in Brazil, Sidneia Gomes was read by Mrs. James Mair. Dates to remember in- clude: Wednesday, June 28, 100th Anniversary of the Londesboro United Church Manse. Open house 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; Tuesday, August 22, a one -day meeting at Alma College, St, Thomas. Theme, "stop, look and listen." Registration at 8.30 a.m., meeting starts at 9 a.m.; Wednesday October 4, tentative date for pork barbecue at Ontario Street church ; Tuesday, November 14 1 p.m. fall presbyterial meeting at Wingham; Tuesday, September 5 8 a.m., bus trip to Albright Gardens with a stop at two florist shops and a craft shop. Bring a picnic lunch and supper will be at the Ponderosa in K itchener. President, Mrs. Cecil Elliott closed the meeting with a reading on Senior Citizens, MR. AND MRS. FRANK THOM Mr. and Mrs. Frank Howard Thom were married on Saturday, June 3, 1978 at noon at Wesley -Willis United Church, Clinton with Rev. John Oestreicher of- ficiating for the double ring ceremony. The bride is the former Barbara Joan Hattin, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hattin of Clinton and the groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Archie Thom of St. Marys. The bride wore a floor - length white polyester dress with a scoop neck, flared sleeves and lace trim. She carried a bouquet of red roses. Mrs. Shirley Richar- dson was the matron of hnnrIlr and bridesmaids Hearing aids Dear Editor: Once again, I want to report to your readers on the success of the Caribbean hearing aid program co-ordinated by the Ontario ministry of education. During 1977, Dr. Donald Hood, audiologist, and Mrs. Hood, a speech therapist, visited St. Vincent in the West Indies where they did follow-up work on children previously fitted with hearing aids; conducted tests and fitted aids for other deaf children. At this time, 65 children have been fitted with hearing aids donated to this program by Canadians from coast to coast. After honeymooning in Quebec and Northern Ontario, the couple are residing near Grand Bend. Webster reunion held Sunday, June 11 was a perfect day for the Webster annual picnic, which was held at Brookside School. About, one hundred were present to renew friendships. The northern branch of the family were in charge of the picnic. Sports were conducted outside by Don Cameron and Clayton Alton. Winners were: girls 6 and under, Mary Ellen Webster, Vanessa Alton; boys 6 and under, Tim McNee, Micheal McNee; girls 12 and under, Rosalea Cameron, Lynn Alton; boys 12 and under Steven Alton, Danny Webster; girls over 12, Kay Morrison, Anne Alton; boys over 12; Karl Morrison. Three legged race, Karl Morrison and Steven Alton; shoe scramble, Lynn Alton; girls slipper kick, Kay Morrison; boys shoe kick,•Karl Morrison; softball throw, Linda McNee, Kay Morrison. While sports were conducted out of doors, Mrs. Harvey Webster and Mrs. Harvey Ritchie conducted several guessing contests with senior and junior members taking part. The ladies from the north served a delicious meal smorgasbord, style, after which president, Harvey Ritchie, called on the secretary to read the names of members who had passed away since last year. Nine names were read. Pearl Dodds, John McDonagh, John Gardner, Bert Alton, Blake Alton, Alvin Alton, Reginald Ferguson, George Twamley, Roy McQuillan. A minutes silence was observed in their memory.
