Women's Institute
Last Thursday the
Wingham Branch of the
Women's Institute
celebrated their 75th
anniversary with a
dinner and meeting in St.
Pauls Anglican Church in
Wingham. Alice Porter
and Irene Cudmore at-
tended.

Last Saturday June 17,
the Holmesville United
Church Sunday School
enjoyed 'a weiner roast
and hike at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Don Lobb.
The Sunday school
celebrated its an-
niversary and promotion
day on Sunday June 18,
1978. The service was
under the leadership of
the Sunday School
Superintendent Hugh
Lobb. Mr. Bob Elliott was
our guest speaker.
The Primary and
Kindergarten classes
sang a choir number, and
Jackie Norman and Lisa
Forbes, accompanied by
Brenda Harris, , sang a
duet. Others taking part
in the service were:
Janine Mayhew, Cheryl
Thompson, Heather
Harris and Mrs. Phyllis
Cox.
The attendance awards
and promotion cer-
tificates were given out
by Bill Norman, assisted
by Mrs. Barb Norman.
Hullett Central
Grade 7
field trip
On Wednesday, June
14, the grade 7 class
loaded the.. bus And went
to Toronto to visit the
Metro Toronto Zoo and to
see the Blue Jays play.
They left the school at
9:30 a.m. and arrived at
the zoo at 12:30. They had
lunch at the zoo and then
looked around at some of
the animals. They left the
zoo at 3:30 and headed for
the ball game.
The class watched the
Blue Jays play the
Milwaukee Brewers in
the first game of a
double-header. They
returned home at 11 p.m.
with a lot of happy but
tired students.
Grades 1 and 2
visit zoo
On Wednesday, June
14, grades 1 and 2 classes
from Mullett went to the
zoo in Grand Bend.
There they saw many
animals and enjoyed a
picnic lunch. All of the
students hada wonderful
time.
Art work
On the weekend of June
2, 3 and 4, some art work
from the pupils at Hullett
Central was judged
against other schools
around this area at the
Clinton Spring Fair.
There were a number of
prizes won.
Grade 3 trips
On June 10, the grade 3
class went to the
Goderich Salt Mines.
They were shown through
the mines and were told
how it worked. They were
each given a sample of
salt before they left.
The next day they
travelled to Wingham
where they observed
some sheep being
sheered. While in
Wingham, they took a
tour through the CKNX-
TV station. They were
told how everything
worked and then returned
home.
The class enjoyed the
educational trips.
Trip to
Holmesville
On Friday, June 16, the
grades 6, 7, 8 and power
learning students
travelled to Holmesville.
There they heard the
Holmesville band play
under the direction of Mr.
Blackwell, who also
teaches at our school,
The members of our
band took their in-
struments and also
played two numbers.
This was the last band
performance of the year.
Congratulations to Mr.
Blackwell and all band
members for helping
make the band a success.
