Happy couple mark 50th
A very happy occasion
took place on May 14, 1978
at the home of Perce and
Clara Johnston of
Bayfield, when they
celebrated their golden
wedding anniversary,
with "Open House".
The groom is the son of
Wellington and Mary
Ellen Johnston of Varna
and the bride is a
daughter of David and
Eva Stephenson of
Goshen Line, Stanley
Township.
Mrs. Margaret Dowson
was bridesmaid and
Elmore Stephenson
groomsman, and Eleanor
Dryden played the
wedding March for their
wedding 50 years ago.
They were married by
Rev. Penrose of Varna.
Four children were
born by this union:
Phyllis of the Bronson
Line, Stanley Township;
Robert of Mississauga;
and two sons deceased.
For this golden wed-
ding occasion, Mrs.
Johnston wore a floor -
length gown of jade
sheer, accentuated with
an orchid corsage.
Guests were greeted at
the door by Phyllis and
Robert. Grandson Robbie
looked after the guest
book.
The tea table looked
attractive with a gold
lace tablecloth with a
centerpiece of roses and
mums, flanked by 50th
anniversary candles.
Canon guest at church
.Canon F. H. Paull, was
guest preacher in Trinity
Anglican Church Sunday
morning.
He spoke of the
preachings of Barnabas
and Saul, two disciples of
Christ
Canon Paull also read
the Lesson for the Third
Sunday in Trinity.
Rector, Rev. William M.
Bennett celebrated Holy
Communion, assisted by
Canon Paull and Server
Andrew Erickson.
Members of Huron
Church Camp Training
Staff, Jane Buchner and
Sylvia Haydon, both
playing guitars, and Mike
Thompson directors of
Huron Church Camp
taught the Church
congregation a new hymn
entitled "Let us Break
Bread Together". The
three were assisted by
several members of
H.C.C. who sang to a
capacity congregation.
During the receiving of
the elements, the young
people, along with the
congregation quietly
sang the newly learned
hymn together while
kneeling.
Jeanne Bennett and
Dawn Merner taught
Sunday School and Harry
Baker and Philip du
Boulay acted as
sidesmen.
The congregation
,signed a card to be sent to
Rev. James Reddoch of
St. Andrew's United
Church, who will be
retiring in the near
future.
An invitation to a
Garden Party at Cam -
borne House, hosted by
Canon Paull on the af-
ternoon of June 25 from 3
to 5 p.m. was extended.
Sunday next the
representatives who
attended the 53rd
weekend will give their
impressions of the annual
Christian Resource
Workshop at Huron

night.
Sunday morning, St.
Andrew's Church was
filled to capacity and
what a beautiful sight to
see when the 39 dedicated
young people went up the
aisle singing the
processional hymn
"Praise My Soul the King
of Heaven".
The entire service was
taken by the choir with
two of the girls reading
the responsive Psalm and
the scripture. Also
assisting was Bill Milne
and Rev. Reddoch had a
very fitting meditation
message, about how
music had always been
an important part of
worship which gave each
one there from the
youngest to the oldest,
something to remember
from the special day.
After • church, the
youngsters, their leaders
and , some mothers
boarded the bus for the
home of Bill and Jean
Milne where lunch was
provided by the ladies of
the church and an af-
ternoon of fun was en-
joyed before returning to
Toronto.
Everyone was very
impressed at how well the
young people fitted in
with the family they
stayed with and were said
to be a real joy to have in
