When editor Jim Fit- zgerald drew up the survey "What's Your opinion of your hometown newspaper?" he really didn't expect 100 per cent honesty when completing the age question - at least not from the distaff side of his readers. We hasten to add that if you wish you can answer with a general range such as "over 20 or 30 or 40 or just over". The main point is do please complete the survey and either mail it or drop it in at the office. There's a letter slot in the door for after office hours. This is all in aid of producing a paper tailored to your views and wishes. + ++ A former resident of Clinton and now at Huronview, Mrs. Alicia Leyburne, last week celebrated her 90th birth- day at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Carter, Wellington Street. Also present were Mrs. Leyburne's sons, Bill of London, Earl of North Bay and Art of St. Thomas. M.P. Robert McKinley and Mrs. McKinley dropped in to congratulate the guest of honour. + ++ Mrs. Charles King and Mr. Dick Brown have been visiting their sister, Mrs. Ceriel Van Damme for the past two months. They will be returning shortly to their home in Sidcup, Kent, England. + ++ Sunday, June 4, 1978 was a very special day for Mr. and Mrs. Milton Wiltse - their 65th wed- ding anniversary. With Mr. Wiltse confined to Clinton Public Hospital since May 16 with a fractured hip, the day was celebrated quietly with the family. Supper guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Elliott and Don of Clinton were Mrs. Milton Wiltse, Huronview, Mrs. Elva Wiltse, Clinton and Mr. and Mrs. Dave Brown and Joanne of Kitchener. The celebrants received many beautiful cards and Rowers from relatives and friends. + + + When Jim Riddell of RR2 Clinton received his B.A. degree and placed on the Dean's Honours List at the University of Western Ontario on June 5, 1978, his mother, Mrs. Wilmer Riddell and brother Brian were at the convocation ceremony. Earlier the same day they were invited guests at the special awards ceremony when Jim received the Fred Landon Prize for excellence in Canadian History. + + + Mrs. S. Carter of Goderich, one of Ontario,'s foremost leaders of Separate School education, will be speaker at St. Joseph's Catholic Church this Sunday at the grade eight graduation mass for students from St. Joseph's Separate School. + ++ As a teacher of ballet and dance, 'Mrs. M. Zablocki takes great pride in her annual recital during which her pupils demonstrate what they have learned culturally during the past year. All who attend this coming Wednesday evening (please see advertisement in this paper) will be treated to a varied program including among other items, Jane Snell presenting "My ,First Day in Ballet", a vocal by Brenda Galachiuk "You Light Up My Life" and a Fashion Show commentated by Mrs. Mary Garon. The evening will be climaxed by the presentation of diplomas. The proceeds of the performance will be donated to Clinton Public School for the purchase of musical instruments. + + -I- Seventeen Seventeen employees retiring this year from Ontario Hydro's Western Region were honoured June 2 at a banquet held at Wonderland Gardens. London. Included among those being honoured were Jack Irwin, Albert Street and Graham Mason of the Clinton area. +++ fhe Huron Fish and Game Conservation Association has acquired some new additions to its wildlife. They include a pair of yellow Golden Pheasants, a pair of red Golden Pheasants, six Muscovy ducks and some other pheasants. These additions were made possible by donations to the club from Harold Glew, R.T. Beyer, Don Doucette, Ted Crich, Fred Miller, Ball - Macaulay Limited, Bill Melick, Bob Johnston, Frank Bushie and an anonymous benefactor. This augments the ducks, roosters, ring- necked pheasants, wood ducks, young Canada geese and Chinese geese already in the ten small and four large pens on the club's grounds. The wildlife display is open to the public but feeding the birds is discouraged. + + + Shelley McPhee has a visitor, who has claimed "squatters' rights", he's small grey with four feet, - any exterminators??? Mrs. Charlotte Norman and Mr. John Wyatt sapg "It was a Miracle", and Lloyd and Larry Jantzi received the offering. Those who believe in the life of Christ shared in Holy Communion. June 18 will be Promotion Sunday for the Sunday School classes, while June 25th is the day the picnic is planned for at Menestung Park. The ladies of Holmesville Church will be busy getting ready for their annual ham and salad supper, Thursday, June 8th 5:30 to 7:30. WI meets The Goderich Township Women's Institute will meet in the Holmesville School Monday June 12 at 8:15 p.m. with Laura McLarty and Helen Lindsay conveners. Notes ' Just a reminder if you Canada Works Public information meetings on the Canada Works, Cycle III program will be held in Huron County at the Canada Manpower Centres in Goderich on Monday, June 12 from 3 to 4 p.m. and in Exeter on Tuesday, June 13 from 3:30 to 4:30. The Canada Works Cycle III program was instituted to help alleviate unemployment, to provide community benefit and to develop the skills of project em- ployees. The public in- formation meetings will provide information on program criteria, discuss project ideas and assist in completing applications.
