Mr. and Mrs. Ross
McMichael and Jack of Oil
City attended the Layton -
Hutchings wedding reception
at Hully-Gully on Saturday
evening and visited, friends in
Bayfield and Clinton during
the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Makins
spent last weekend in London
with their daughter and
family.
Mrs. Doris McLeod,
Kingsville visited during the
weekend with Mr. and Mrs.
Donald R. McLeod and John.
Also visiting Saturday with
the McLeod family were Mrs.
Mae McLeod and Mr. and
Mrs. Tom Colquhoun, all of
Clinton.
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard F.
Sturgeon, Jeff and Rollie,
Orangeville were at their
Village home for the weekend
and also visited with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jack
B. Sturgeon and Andrew.
Mr. and Mrs. Pat Graham
returned last week after
spending a week in Myrtle
Beach, South Carolina. They
reported a nice holiday and a
good rest and are ready for
the busy summer season in
their business, Graham's
General Store.
Mr. and Mrs. Ron Diemert,
Brian and Karen. St. Marys;
Miss Karen Phillips, Laura
and Debbie, Stratford; Mr.
and Mrs. Oscar Schneuker,
Milverton were weekend
holiday guests of Mr. and
Mrs. Floyd Diemert, Wayne
and Rick, at the Albion Hotel.
Able Seaman Gary
Brandon has returned to his
ship, the HMCS Huron, CFB
Halifax, Nova Scotia after
spending a three week leave
with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. H.K. (Joe) Brandon and
sister Shirley. Brian Brandon
of Owen Sound was also home
for the holiday weekend with
his parents, sister and
brother.
Mr. and Mrs. W. Winstone,
Kim and Joe; Mr. and Mrs.
R. J. Stevenson, Doug, David
and Karen all of London
visited last Sunday with the
ladies' parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Eric W. Earl.
Best wishes to Mr. Albert
Craig who is a patient in
Clinton Public Hospital. Also
get well wishes are extended
to Albert's father, Mr. Ed
Craig who is also confined in
the same hospital.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Haw
accompanied by the former's
mother, also Anne and Cathy
Haw and Barbara Campbell
visited with relatives in
Brampton on Sunday and also
• attended a Golden Wedding
celebration for the former's
aunt and uncle in Scarboro.
Mr. Mark Stewart, Ripley,
'Mr. and Mrs. Rob and
Robbie, London, Mr. Dave
Watson and Miss Pat Bender,
Grand Bend were visitors
with Mr. and Mrs. E. Walter
Erickson, Andrew, Luanne
and Lydia on Saturday.
Mrs. Vicki McLaughlin,
Megan, Alfie and Courtney
and John Innes and Jody all
of Toronto were weekend
guests of the former's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred
LeBeau.
,Mr. and Mrs. Fred
Schafheitlin, Oakville were at
the Robinson cottage for the
weekend and reported that
her brother Bill Robinson is
still confined in Toronto
General Hospital and is
progressing slowly towards
recovery.
Guests during the holiday
weekend with Rev. William
and Mrs. Bennett were their
daughter Sally Bennett;
daughter-in-law and gran-
dchildren. Mrs. Michael
Bennett, Martha, Jeanne,
Erin and Rhys and the
Rector's sister Sally and
brother-in-law Frank Hill all
of London.
Miss Susan Taylor and Mr.
Brian Makins, Toronto were
with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Arnold M'akins for the
long weekend.
Miss Joanne Mackie of
London visited with Joanne
Chapman for the holiday
weekend.
Our sympathy is extended
to the relatives of the late
Mary Weston who passed
away at the Bluewater Rest
Horne, Zurich on Tuesday,
May 23.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis
Meloche and two daughters of
Windsor spent the holiday
weekend at the Ronethroy
Cottages.
Mr. and Mrs. Ronald J.
Poth and sons, Michael and
Gary, visited Mr. and Mrs.
Rae Fraser and Mrs. and
Mrs. LeRoy Poth over the
weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. John
Hayman, Belleville spent the
weekend at their cottage,
with their sons, daughters
and families.
Shower honors girl
St. Andrews United Church
Sunday School room was
beautifully decorated with
pretty flowers and streamers
for the bridal shower held
there in honour of Jacqueline
Koene.
Mrs. Anna Scotchmer. was
in charge of the program.
Julie Porter and Allison Dunn
sang three songs. Debbie
Siertsema did step -dancing
numbers. Charlene Porter
conducted several contests.
Anna read a poem• "June
Bride" and Marilyn Haw
read the address.
Jacqueline Koene, Brenda
Talbot, Nancy Koene, cousin
of the bride; Susan Thom-
pson, sister of the groom and
Mrs. Lena Koene,
Jacqueline's mother were
seated on chairs at the front
where the bride -elect opened
her gifts, assisted by her
attendants.
Several little girls, namely,
Cathy Haw, Allison Dunn,
Julie Porter, Angela Dunn,
Jodie Castle, Debbie Siert-
sema and Rayanne Scot-
chmer carried the gifts.
Jacqueline graciously
thanked all present for the
beautiful gifts also thanked
everyone for coming and to
those who helped in any way.
An invitation was extended
to all to come and see her
gifts at the home of her
mother, Mrs. Joe Koene.
A bountiful smorgasbord
lunch was served. Best
wishes are extended to this
young couple who will reside
in Goderich.

Trinity Anglican Church
Sunday Services were under
the direction of the Rector,
Rev. Wm. M. Bennett.
Mr. Harry Baker read the
lesson, and Mr. Baker and
Mr. Morgan Smith collected
the offering.
Mrs. Jeanne Bennett
presided over the Sunday
School Nursery and Mrs.
Moira Coulter aided the older
children in preparing a
special "Rainbow Day"
Banner to carry from Vic-
toria Park to St`. Paul's
Cathedral in London to the
Children's Festival on
Saturday, May 27th.
Mrs. Couper said the
children's choice of symbols
was instituted into the banner
to be carried. They (the
children) chose four symbols
to be amalgamated into the
banner. Firstly, the Church;
secondly, the signs of music
because the little Trinity
Church is noted for its
singing and musical en-
thusiasm; thirdly, sailboats
and water symbolic of the
village of Bayfield and
flowers and trees which are
loved by the children.
Mrs. Rhea Potter was
welcomed back as a choir
member and the Rector
announced that Sunday next,
(May 28) the seldom used

Society plans in case arena not done
At the general meeting of
Bayfield Agricultural Society
held Tuesday evening in the
Municipal Building, alternate
plans for the annual Fall Fair

Area man, OETCA president

Galtan Blanchette of
Clinton was elected president
of the Huron -Perth unit of the
Ontario English Catholic
Teachers' Association at a
meeting in Seaforth Wed-
nesday night.
Mr. Blanchette, a Grade 7-8
teacher at Ecole Ste Marie,
RR 2, Zurich, succeeds Sister
Loretta Hagen of Goderich, to
provide leadership for the 160
separate school teachers in
the Huron -Perth Catholic
Separate School system.
Other officers elected are
vice-presidents Don Farwell,
St. Columban; and Sandy
McQuillan, Stratford;
treasurer, Sister Audrey
Dumouchelle, Strafford;
recording secretary, Lu Ann
McQuillan, Stratford;
corresponding secretary,
Inez Haid, Hesson ; coun-
cillors, Brian Morrissey and
Justin Tomasulo, both of
Stratford; Board of Direc-
tors, Adrian Ponts-ioen,
Clinton.
A representative from each
of the 19 schools and one from
the board office will be
named later.

Mr. Blanchette in his ac-
ceptance speech said, "The
new executive will be con-
centrating its efforts in the
area of teacher welfare. We
will be defending in a
responsible manner ' the
rights of every teacher in our
system. By working to im-
prove communication among
the administration and board
and teachers we hope we will
be able to continue to succeed
in meeting our goal of•
providing quality education."
He concluded, "We are
looking forward to continued
good will and support in our
educational communities."

Mrs. Audrey Graham,
secretary -treasurer of the
Society, said that a new roof
has been put on one of their
buildings and another work
party has been organized to
re -roof another of their
buildings. The Society has
purchased the aluminum
from the Andemnede arena
for the re -roofing.
Another meeting will be
held in June to make
arrangements to re -roof
another of the Ag. Society's
buildings and to further
arrangements for their
Annual Olde Time Country
Fair. Labour Day Weekend.
Couple wed

Layton and Tony Hutchings
who were married Saturday,
May 20th in St. Andrews
United Church by Rev. James
•Reddoch. Attending the
couple were Mr. and Mrs.
Don Bell of Clinton. The bride
is the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Albert Craig, of Bayfield
and the groom is a son of Mr.
and Mrs. James Hutchings of
R. R. 2, Bayfield.
Following the ceremony, a
family dinner was held at the
Little Inn with a reception
later at Hully Gully. The
Howard Smith Orchestra of
Brussels of which the father
of the bride is a member,
provided the music
Mr. and Mrs. Hutchings
and their families Joanne,
Sheryl, Barbara, Dwayne and
Ron will make their home in
Bayfield.
