Community notes Mrs. Orval Blake, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Blake and Mr. and Mrs. Les Jervis attended the 40th wedding anniversary celebrations in Saltford Valley Hall last Friday night in honour of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Williams. Mr. and Mrs. Ken McDonald of Teeswater visited with Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Potter one day last week. Mrs. William Porter of the Goderich Township Women's Institute and Board Director, subdivision 23, visited with St. Helen Women's Institute. W.I. meets The Goderich Townships' Women's Institute held their May meeting in the Holmesville Public School Monday evening. The meeting opened with Charolette Norman at the piano. Mrs. Hugh McCreath was in charge of the meeting and welcomed the ladies and guests. Hazel thanked Mrs. Bernice Mcllwain for her work and effort as the president for the . past two years. Mrs. Alice Porter gave the minutes of the last meeting, the financial reports and read the correspondence. Mrs. Marion Powell gave a report on the landscaping of the front of the Holmesville School and the committee of Mrs. Grace Walters, Mrs. Marion Powell and Mrs. Pat Postill and Mrs. Blanche Deeves purchased the necessary shrubs etc. to do this job. A discussion was held on forthcoming card parties and prizes; and achievement day of the 4-H, to be held May 13 in Ontario St. Church, Clinton. Mrs. Berniece Mcllwain gave an interesting talk on her stay at the officers conference at Waterloo University. Margaret Coombs then introduced the guest speaker Mrs. Gonie from the Town and Country Home Makers, showing some slides and telling the members of thei work and how one ca become a Home Maker and what their work consists of as a home maker. Mrs. Coombs presented Mrs. Gonie with a gift and thanked her for coming.
