(Rhea Hamilton photo) Police appreciation night held By Rene Brochu Last Saturday evening, the Pineridge Chalet was the scene of the K of C's fourth annual "Police Appreciation Night" when District 31 of the K of C which includes the area of Stratford to Goderich and towns and countryside in between as well as, our police forces from those areas gathered together for an evening of relaxation. It is not often that police officers receive the recognition and co-operation so justly deserved from the public, but it was truly evident at this gathering that law enforcement officers are truly appreciated. The evening was enjoyed by about 50 police officers and their wives, as well as 150 members of the K of C and Huronview news Marie Flynn, Lorne Lawson, Norman Speir, Cecil Skinner and Rodney Stewart provided the Old-Tyme music for Monday's program at Huronview. The Clinton Christian Reform volunteers assisted with the activities. • The Reverend Wittick of the Blyth United Church conducted the quarterly Communion Service in the Huronview Chapel on Tuesday morning. Mrs. Webster, a member of the Blyth Session and Mrs. Watt, organist, helped with the service. The program for Family Night at Huronview was provided by entertainers from the Goderich area. Mrs. Joy Harrison and Mrs. Helen Lindsay entertained with several vocal solo and duet numbers. Mr. Ed. Stiles provided the piano ac- companiment for the singing as well as piano solos. Sharon and Less Lindsay danced Scottish and Irish selections, ncluding the Sword Dance, the Sailor's Hornpipe and the Irish Washerwoman. Mrs. Smile Good advice may be more valuable than money, but most people prefer cash. • damn Jennie McGratton expressed the appreciation of the residents. The Huronview residents enjoyed an hour of organ melodies on Thursday af- ternoon played by Mr. Ed. Stiles. their wives. The law en- forcement officers in the area are presently distributing buttons which state, "prevent crime - working together". This is clearly an invitation to the public to assist the police forces in crime prevention and co-operation in observing the laws of our country. This message was truly evident as the Clinton Police Force was well represented at the function by Chief Lloyd Westlake and his wife Downa, Constable Don Armstrong and his wife Rosemary, and. Constable Wayne McFadden ,and wife Susan. The members of the K of C from the Clinton area truly appreciated their attendance and we hope it will assist in cementing co-operation in the law enforcement problem of our town and countryside.
