The Grade 7A class and choir became Muppets as part of BBC's Channel 39 nightly shows. (News -Record photo) Anglican church news Rev. Wm. Bennett of- ficiated at the 8 a.m. Holy Communion Service and the 10 a.m. Sung Matins and Litany in Trinity Anglican Church Sunday morning. The lesson was taken from the Book of Mark and was a well known parable; that of the Sower and the seed and the parable explained. Mr. Alex McAllister was the reader. Sunday next, the service of Holy Communion will be observed at both services. Presentation of gifts for the World Hunger Fund will also be presented at the 10 a.m. service. Then, in turn these gifts will be presented by one of the parish representatives at the Synod Service in the Cathedral Sunday night. Bayfield Lions president Pat Graham was elected Zone Chairman of District A 15. The group attended several meetings Saturday and Sunday and also the Governor's Ball on Saturday evening. All reported a most en- joyable weekend. "Our Congratulations Pat". Mr. Charles Rogers is spending this week at his home on Main St. and `also visiting his uncle and aunt, Dr. Rob and Doris Hunter. Dr. Rob and Doris Hunter have returned from Toronto after avisit with their son-in- law, daughter and grand- children, Rev. Paul and Sally Beth MacLean, Conan, Avery and Dougald. Sally Beth and children had been here for a visit and had returned home to Toronto with her parents. Rev. Paul had also been a guest of the Hunter's for 'a couple of days. Mrs. Ilse Gemeinhardt and Mrs. Elane Brandon attended a fashion show of hair styles and clothing 'in London on Monday last, and also en- joyed a lovely dinner. Recently a woman walked into an OPP office and handed a life preserver to one of the officers in charge. Upon asking her if she had found it she replied "no she had "borrowed" it ten years ago and her conscience had been bothering her." The life preserver is now back at the Bayfield 'River where it rightfully belonged. Congratulations to Dr. Rob and Doris Hunter who recently celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. Misses Allison and Angela Dunn were Sunday dinner guests of Misses Luanne and Lydia Erickson. Mr. and Mrs. Harry James of London visited Saturday at the home of the latterls parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herb Beatty. Mr. and Mrs. Rob Irwin and Robbie, London visited Saturday with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.W. Erickson and family. Mr. Norman Diemert, Atwood, was a guest of his brother Floyd, sister-in-law Mary and nephew Wayne Diemert last Thursday. Blair Brandon left last Sunday for Calgary, Alberta where he will be spending the next 8 months. Blair, a son of Ken and Elane Brandon, will be working with a con- struction firm in connection with his schooling in con- struction engineering and technology at Fanshawe College. News from the Baptist church By Janet Talbot The Sunday Services at Bayfield Baptist Church were held at the usual time (in spite of some confusion over the time change) with Rev. Ivor Bodenham as guest Pastor Next Sunday Pastor John Hill will be the guest speaker for both services. The mothers of our Sunday School are to be honoured on Mother's Day, so all Mothers (fathers too) are invited to attend this special, Sunday School service, Sunday May 14 at 10 a.m. Personal notes Our sympathy is extended to Mr. ,and Mrs. Bill Talbot, Karen and Kathy on the death of Mrs. Talbot's mother Mrs. Margaret Smyth, whose funeral was held on Monday, May 1 at the Carruthers Funeral Home in London. Mr. Ray Schell called on friends and relatives in Woodstock and vicinity, Friday, and also visited his daughter Mrs. Clarence Jull in Burford. Mr. and Mrs. Les Talbot spent the week end at Woodstock and Niagara Falls 'also visiting Rev. Brian and Mrs. Harrison, Matthew and Stephen in Clossen.Michigan. Village to be toured Mrs. Doris Hunter and Miss Wallace lunched Thursday last with Mr. George Capelos and Mrs. De Stefanos of the ministry of culture and recreation. They were in Bayfield to arrange a tour for three busloads of people interested in Architecture who will be touring the village on Wednesday evening May 24 following a conference of the Society for the Study of Architecture in- Canada in London. They have also requested that the shops in the Village remain open from 5:50 until 8:30 p.m. Members of the Local Architectural Con- servancy Advisory Com- mittee will receive the guests and welcome them to Bayfield. with the Service of Evening Prayer at St. Paul's Cathedral at 7:30 p.m. during which'time the Bishop will deliver his charge to Synod. June 2 to 4, a "Christian Resource Workshop" will be held for men, women, and teens at Huron College. Brownie, Cub news The Bayfield Brownies are planning a hike for Saturday, May 6, and are to meet at the Parish Hall at 11 a.m. and will return there at 1:30 p.m. The girls are reminded to take enough wieners and buns for themselves and something to drink and a stick to toast their wieners. They will not need to wear their uniforms, but -are asked to dress warmly for the hike along the Lake. In case of rain, the hike will be post- poned until the following Saturday and a regular meeting at 10 a.m. will be held in its place. Brownie leader, Mrs. Eleanor Ritchie has offered to start a Guide Company in the fall and assistants are badly needed for Brownies and Guides. If you are interested in helping with either group, please contact Mrs. Charlene Porter at 565-5244 or Mrs. Jean Dunn at 565-5316. Mothers of Brownies, Cubs and Scouts are informed that there will not be an L.A. meeting Saturday morning, May 6 as planned, instead it will be held on Saturday morning, May 13 at 10 am. The women are reminded to bring along plant slips for the exchange. Also someone is still needed as convenor for the lunch committee. Miss Cari-Lynn Talbot spent the weekend with her 'grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Norm Talbot while her wee sister Terri -Lynn was loved all weekend by her uncle, aunt and cousins, Mr. and Mrs. Doug Talbot, Debbie, Wendy and Lisa.Mrs. Jim Martin of Port Dover, visited over the weekend with her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. James Sturgeon, Clinton. Cubs plan banquet The Bayfield Cubs have planned some activities ' to further their work towards earning points for their stars and also for some enjoyment together. Wednesday evening is their Father ,and Son Banquet in the St. Andrew's United Church basement. On Saturday, at 10 a.m. they leave the Cub Hall for Rainbow Valley Camp (Brandon's Flats) for a hike and fishing contest and open fire cooking at noon. They expect to arrive back at the hall around 2 p.m. The following Saturday (May 13) they will be spen- ding most of the day cleaning and raking Pioneer Park as their service project for this spring.
