Clintonians welcomed at church
Pastor Boersma led the
worship service this past
Sunday. He welcomed
guests from Clinton and
Shirley Livingstcne played a
piano postlude.
The Lord's Supper was
celebrated to the enrichment
of everyone present. We
really thank God for the
growth both spiritually and
numerically of our group.
There were some 70
children present at the arts
and crafts Bible clubs this
past week. Any children of
elementary school age living
in Vanastra are always
welCome. We usually read a
Bible story together and then
make a craft to take home.
We will have Sunday School
for everyone interested as
usual this Sunday at 10 a.m.
We have been getting a few
new children each week
lately so come and join. The
message at the 11 a.m.
worship service will be on
Mary Magdalene and her
confession, "I have seen the
Lord." This is another in our
group of messages which
focus on the different con-
fessions of Jesus' friends
after his resurrection.

Brownies, Guides, Cubs, Scouts active
On Thursday evening, April
6, the Vanastra Brownies and
Guides held a fly -up and
enrollment ceremony for nine
Brownies and two Guides.
Mrs. Donna Woods, District
Commissioner, enrolled
Jeannie Bernard, Terry
Evans, Rosann Lazette, and
Mary Rose into the First
Vanastra Brownie Pack.
After the enrollment, four
Brownies flew up and one
walked up to Guides.
After receiving their wings,
from Mrs. Woods Lynne
McFadden, Michelle Hewer,
Darlene Smith, Karen -Ann
Gonie and Trudy Laws were
welcomed into the Guide
company by the captain.
Two Tenderfoot Guides,
Pearl Judge and Samantha
Poisson, were also enrolled
by the Commissioner. After
the ceremonies, a light lunch
was served to the parents who
were present. The evening
ended the closing ceremonies
of both groups.
Cubs and Scouts
.The Vanastra Cubs were
very busy last week with their
Cub car trials. These cars
were carved by the boys and
at present they have had one
heat. Unfortunately, the
track needs some repairs so
the finals will be delayed for a
short time. The final outcome
of the races will be printed in
a future column.
With a district camp
coming up in May, the Scout
Troop has been very busy
training for this event. At
present all the hoys are
learning how to tie knots,
read a compass, along with a
five-week course in first aid.
Last year these boys came
in second overall points at the
Camporee and they hope to do
just as well this year. We wish
them all the best of luck!
Vanastra tidbits
Would the person or per-
sons who borrowed the flags
from the Vanastra
Recreation Centre please
return them. The Canadian
flag is owned by the Vanastra
Lions Club and the Red
Ensign by the Vanastra Scout
Troop. The return of these
two flags would be greatly
appreciated.

Friday, April 14th the Lions
Club is hosting a spring frolic
dance at the Recreation
Centre from- 9 p.m. - 1 a.m.
There will be a free buffet
