She was timed in 2:10:2 with Dave Wall on the bike. Irisha Hanover has started seven times this year with one win, one second, two thirds and she has also been fourth twice. Last year she took a record of p. 2:07:1 when she was first five times, second five times and had nine thirds from 21 starts in her first year at the races. Frank MacDonald, who was Irisha Hanover's regular driver last year, is still recuperating from a broken wrist and has not yet returned to driving in races. Will Knight, owned by Ken Parke of Zurich and John H. Lester of Forest was a winner at Mohawk Raceway on ]Monday night in 2:04:4. Melo Victory won the fifth race at Windsor on March 21, timed in 2:06 for owners Wm. Bradley and Lionel Kloss of Goderich. At London on March 22, Dainty Meadow, a six-year-old mare by H.A. Meadowland -Dainty Debbie, was second for owner -trainer Bob Vanstone of Goderich in the first. Betty Van Dyk had a fifth place finish for owner -trainer Frank Little of Goderich in the fifth. Bold Tar Heel was third at Mohawk on Friday night for owner Franc Stroop of Fordwich. On Saturday afternoon at London, Bev's Ace picked up a third with Art Abbott on the bike for owner James D. Taylor of Hensall in the first race. Bill Rapson of Holmesville drove Btandellero to a fourth place finish for owner Ed Watson of Blyth and trainer Walter Oster of Clinton. Robert Jerry was fifth with Muddy Royal for owner H.O. (Bud) Jerry of Goderich. Late Affair, a six-year-old horse by Sir Dudley Pick- Delphine Spencer was fifth for co -owner -driver Carl Fisher and Grant Fisher of Goderich. This is his first year at the races. Soky's Honey, owned by Frank Little of Goderich, was fourth in the ninth race Earl Hyatt drove Duke Killean to a third place finish at Windsor on Sunday night for owner Bernard Mitchell of Dungannon. Monday night at London, Jay Dee Lonesome was third for driver Art Abbott in the first race. She is owned by James D. Taylor of Hensall. Bold Tar Hell, owned by Franc Stroop of Fordwich was second at Motiawk on March 27. Several Clinton residents have returned home following a Florida vacation. Ernie and Bernice Brown, and Case, Ruth and Jennifer Buffinga arrived back on March 22. Dennis, Janet, Kathy and David Jewitt returned on Saturday. Larry Daw of Clinton reports the arrival of a nice big filly foal on March 25 from the Newport Duke broodmare Maisie Belle, which he co-owns with his father, Claude Daw of Mississauga. The new arrival is by Native Bomber, who is a son of Tar Heel, with a pacing record of 1:59.3. Maisie Belle has already produced: Fancy Thoughts p, 2:07.3; Meadowbrook Boy p, 2:05.4; Thumper p, 2:08; Niccolini p, 2:04; Tar Daw Duke p, 2:02.4; and Metric Time, a three-year-old owned by Larry and his father, as well as a two-year-old filly, Rosetown, owned by Norm Brooks of Kerwood. Seaforth curling news by Gwen Patterson With the curling season quickly drawing to a close, events at the club are in the wind-up stage. Re -scheduled and playoff games will soon be held and winners for the season declared. Meanwhile, curlers are still avidly participating in local bonspiels. Doug and Peggy Rowcliffe curled with Bev and Lorraine Alexander in Exeter on March 17 and 18 and won second prize. Bob and Sharon Wilson curled in Wiarton on March 18 and 19 with Don and Joyce Dance. They won first prize on the 11:00 draw. A lot of Seaforth curlers attended the Corn Growers Spiel in Vanastra on March 22. Gerald Smith skipped the winning rink of the day. Curling with Gerald were Gordon Pryce, Neil Dolmage and Ross Lovett. Bob Fotheringham"s rink won second prize on the 9:00 draw. With Bob were Murray Forbes, Glen Hayter and Art Duvar. Bill Lobb skipped a team with Brian and Gerry Lobb and Ian Fleming and won third prize. Other Seaforth curlers in that Spiel were Mert Keys, Harold Pryce, Stu Wilson and Jack Mayhew, but I didn't receive any particulars on their games. The Junior Curling Club held a very successful Fun Day on March 26th. Winning first prize was Catherine Ribey, David Underwood and Laurie Stackhouse. Second prize went to Brian Moore, Betsy Ste. Marie, Brad Gowan and John Van Vliet. Third prize was won by Susan Dorssers, Bob Wilson and Jane Ribey. Vincents donated money for the prizes and everyone enjoyed a pot luck supper. Final events for the club include a Mixed Fun Day on April 9. That includes break- fast at th'e club with curling to follow. The Junior pot luck supper is scheduled for April 15 and the annual pot luck supper and dance will be held on April 29. A most important date to keep in mind is the Third Annual Dance to be held on Friday May 26 with the Brown Orchestra from London - a super band! The overall winners and the winners of the second draw at the Huron County Cornspiel al Vanastra Curling Club last week was the team of front row, left, Gerald Smith and Gerd Pryce, and back row, Neil Dolmage and Ross Lovett,. The team received inffividual trophies and will have their names inscribed on the master plaque.. 1 teams took home jackets or toques donated by area seed corn dealers. The Chicken Coops have 76 points and the Bobcats are Last with 72. Teresa Foster had the high single of 202 and the high triple of 517. Jackie Zwaan took the high average of 178 for the ladies' scoing. Jamie Cooper had the men's high single of 268 and the high triple of 690. Gary Armstrong had the high average of 217. Molson's Crown Mixed The James Gang are in first place with 10,871 and Bruce's Buddies are second with 10,488. Leonard's Dumbells have 10,418; the Do Goods had 10,362; the Corner Pin Six have 10,328 and the Mac Tacks are last with 10,176. In the individual scoing, Marie Collins had the ladies' high single of 238 and the high average of 208. Theresa Machan had the high triple of 635. For the men, Bill Lee had the high single of 318 and the high triple of 820. Ken Johnston had the high average of 239. Ladies Tuesday The Boyes' G iris are in first place with 146 points, leaving the June Bugs behind with 133. The scoring then closes in with Hurman's Harem, third with 1271, leaving Nancy's Chics with 127. 'The Campbell Supers have 1231,4 and Rosie's Rebels are in last place with 123 points_ Vera Beck had the high single of 301 Moranne Duddy had the high triple of 667 and Mona Campbell took the high average of 200. YBC Majors The Five Stars have a good lead on first place with 90 points while the second place Kathy's Clowns have 80 points. The Zappers have 78 and the Pickles are in last place with 74 points.
