OF CAN ADA,
On Sunday morning during it tow near
Bay City, Michigan, James Cam,past stabbed
Richard. Welsh twice with a dirk, the wea-
pon each time piercing the left lung. Cam -
pan was arrested and Welsh will die. It
was supposed by some here that the man
Welsh is a native of Exeter. This is a
wrong impression ; he is a cousin only to the
Welsh family of Exeter.
A few weeks ago we published an item
stating that Mr. N. 3. Clarke, of Colima
County, California, had so many antes of
fall wheat and that it had grown to the
height of four inches. Our informant was
in error. He should have told us that the
stem of the grain was four feet long and the
head four inches. Word is to hand from
Mr. Clarke that he will cornmence harvest-
ing very soon.
On Saturday, one of our village consta, bles
went te a neighboring hamlet for the pur-
pose of serving the landlord of the hotel
with it summons. His mau not being at
home, the papers were laid upon the dining
table, and vvhile waiting about the hotel
expecting his arrival at every moment, the
children got playing with the summons and
other papers and tore them in many pieces.
