The team has lost the first .two games of a best -of - seven game series with Mitchell. Last Friday, February 24, the Colts were taken 6-2 in Mitchell. Goal scorers for Clinton were Derwin Carter and Dave McClure. Then Sunday night in Clinton the Colts were beaten ita high scoring game. 10-8 All the Clinton goals were scored by Clinton's first line of McClure, Boyce and Mayer forward and Carter and Lyndon on defence. McClure and Mayer both picked up hat tricks and Carter and Lyndon scored one goal each. There were 20 minutes in penalties for Mitchell and 12 minutes against Clinton. The next two games will be Friday, March 3 in Mitchell and this Sunday, March 5 in Clinton. t4 Despite some excellent scoring, the Clinton Colts were outscored 10-8 last Sunday to lose the second game of the best of seven semi-finals last Sunday night In Clinton against Mitchell. The Colts play again in Mitchell Friday night, while the fourth game will be played this Sunday night in Clinton. Penny Overboe was the top high single lady with a score of 310. She also held the high "' triple with 769 and the high average with 216. Ladies' Tuesday Boyes' Girls are ahead with 124 points followed by Hur- man's Harem with 1111/2. Campbell's Supers have a slight edge for third with 1061/2 followed by Nancy's Chics, June's Bugs and Rosie's Rebels, all with 106. Lois Hurman took the ladies' high single with 263. The high triple was won by Vera Beck with 682 and Mona Campbell had the high average with 201. Clinton -Blyth Ladies Joan's Pin Poppers are in 'first with 49 and the Fantastic "5" and Wandering Five share second with 46. Third is the Earthquakers with 45 and fourth position is held by the Merry Mixers with 44. The Foxy Bunch are next with 41 followed by the Cooper's Angels with 39 and Davey's Dumplings with 38. , The high single ladies' was taken by Rena Kolkman with 293. She also won the high triple with 629. Mary Davey had the high average with 212. t e • YBC Teen First place is Debbie's Buddies with 84 followed by Midgets in consolation The Clinton midget all star team ended up last place in their division for the year. They were .put out of playoff action against Mitchell in the first two games. The first game in Mitchell was lost 5-1 with Ron May scoring Clinton's only goal. The score of the second game in Clinton wa'8-3 with Ron May scoring two of the goals and Tony Gibbings getting one. Last Sunday Feb. 26 the team played their first game of the consolation series with Seaforth losing 5-4. Goal scorers for Clinton were Ron May, Wayne Tideswell, Jeff Ball and Scott Consitt. •The midgets will play eaforth again Saturday March 4 in Clinton at 8:30 p.m. Bantams third the Bowling Bums with 82. The Chicken -Coops are third with 68 and the Bobcats last with 60. High single for the ladies' was Kelly Colquhoun with 273. The high triple was held by Joan Mason with 648 and the high average by Jackie Zwaan with 178. The men's high single was Gary Armstrong with 306. He also took the high triple with 785. and the high average of 215. Molson's Crown Bruce's Buddies are in first place with 83 followed by Leonard's Dumbells with 82. Corner Pin Six hold third with 78, The Do Goods fourth with " 76, and Mac Tacks fifth with 67. Last is The James Gang with 55. Edna Jackson had the ladies' high single with 273 and Lynn Culbert the high triple with 685. The high average was scored by Marie 'Collins with 207. With 335 Ken Johnston was the men's high single. He was , also the high triple with 769 and had the high average with 239. YBC Majors Top place is held by the Fivestars with 79. Kathy's Clowns are second with 70, the Zappers third with 66 and the Pickles fourth with 51. The ladies' high single went to Rita Leppington with 287 and she also had the high triple with 633. Louise Gib- bings had the high average with 203. For the men Bev Bromley had the high single of 249 and the high triple of 680. Steve Gibbings had the high average with 223. Clinton Mixed The Sweets are it, first with 96 followed by the Snowdrops with 82. Third place is held by the Victors with 80 and fourth place is the Butterflies with 79. The Super Strikers follow with 78, the Bowler Bugs with 71 and the Luckie Eights with 67. The Dummies are last with. Pat 'Thomas was the top ladies' single with 292. The high triple went to 747 by Louise Gibbings and the high average was 223 by Valerie Marriage. Greg Skinner' for the men had the high single with 317 and the high triple with 742. Don Switzer had the high average of 210. Curling news Lots of bonspiel action to report this week! Several men's rinks from the Seaforth Club supported the Corn Producers Spiel in Vanastra on Saturday. Winning first prize on the 11:00 draw was Bill Lobb's rink with Gerry Ginn, Ross Lovett and Brian Lobb. A team skipped by Bob Fotheringham with Murray Forbes, Glen Hayter and Bruce Coleman won third. Winning seventh prize were Harold Pryce, Gordon Pryce, Bruce Whitmore and Brian Campbell. Eighth prize went to Mert Keys with Len Jamieson, Don Dalton and Ron Taylor. The Campbells and Pat- tersons played in the Golden Horseshoe Spiel in Hamilton on the weekend and captured the Gooderham-Worts Trophy for first prize in the first event. They won all five of their games. The Huron High School Curling was held in Exeter on Monday. The Seaforth boys' team skipped by David Ste. Marie with David Under- wood, Mark Underwood and Brian Moore won the boys' event. They defeated Exeter 7 - 4, and Goderich 9 - 4, and lost to Wingham 6 - 5. Total points gave them the win. The Seaforth Girls' team skipped by Sandra Ruston with Jane Ribey, Susan Primeau and Vicki Ste. Marie lost their games with Goderich and Exeter. The Exeter girls' team came out as winners. A mixed rink from Seaforth played in Exeter on Saturday. Winning fourth prize on the 9:00 draw were Neil and Loretta Dolmage and Ron and Gloria Riley. The Intermediate Division playoffs were held in Seaforth on Sunday. Vanastra won over Tara. The Vanastra rink will go on to Inter -Division playoffs. Preceding it, our seniors and in- termediates were to present a skating demonstration for the public. All this is just one more stepping stone in preparation for the interclub competition on Sunday, March 5 at Goderich arena. Our teams have been set up and prac- tising for the last month. It should -be a long but in- teresting day beginning at 8 a.m. and ending with the final presentations at 10 p.m. Anyone is welcome to attend. Just to give you an idea what the Clinton club is up against, this is what interclub is all about. It is a grouping of clubs that has an executive who plan a competition once a year, (as well as other ac- tivities). This involves 3 groups of clubs. They are: gone. group A, Clinton, Mitchell Last Saturday, the Milverton, Monk ton, beginners and juniors were Seaforth, St. Marys, Strat- busy again. The following ford; group 13, Blyth, skaters earned some N.S.T. Brussels, Goderich, Hanover, badges, Joanne Morden and Walkerton, Wingham; and Luanne Morden passed dance group C, Harriston, Howick, I; Jim Crawford passed the Listowel, Lucknow, Mildmay, novice I; Jeffrey Postma Mount Forest, Normandy. passed the stroking test. And we came third last Congratulations,skaters. year? Yes sir, we did! However, this year it's a whole new "ball of wax" and all we expect is everyone very best try.
