• Hullett Happenings
White Cane
assembly
On Wednesday, February 8,
Hullett recognized White
Cane Week. The school held a
special assembly in which
everyone attended. The
special guests at the
assembly were Mr. and Mrs.
Harold Vodden of Blyth.
Mr. Vodden is a blind
gentleman who has a dog
called Chipper. Chipper
accompanied the Vodden's to
the assembly. The assembly
gave us a better insight into
how the blind are able to cope
in society with the help of
trained dogs. •
Photographer returns
On Wednesday, February
8th, the photographer
returned to the school to take
class pictures.
The grade 3 class and one of
the kindergarten classes had
not received their class
pictures earlier.
Grade 8
trip
On Thursday, February 9,
the grade 8 class travelled to
Goderich by bus. They went
to a council meeting at the
courthouse on the square.
They talked about
organization and what they
do at council meetings in
Huron County.
This special trip proved to
be worthwhile and
educational.
Hotdogs
This year the Students
Council is selling hotdogs.
Every Friday, hotdogs are
sold either tothe junior or
senior side on an alternating
basis.
The students enjoy the
hotdogs and it is also a good
way to raise money.
Dental program
Once again this year,
Hullett had the dental
program. On February 8, 9
and 10, two nurses came to
the school to administer the
program.
Every grade had their teeth
brushed and the grade 6 had
their teeth flossed as well as
brushed. Each student
received a toothbrush and the`
program proved to be wor-
thwhile.
Snowshoes
On Wednesday, February 8,
the grade 3 class from Walton
Public School came to Hullett
to make use of the snowshoes.
The snowshoes were bought
by the students council of
Hullett. The grade 3 class had
an enjoyable time.
Grade 8
trip
On Monday, February 6,
the grade 8 class went on a' ;
field trip , to .�tl�e� .bush »..Th'6y --
could travel by snowshoes or
bring skis from home.
They took their lunch and
cooked it over an open fire.
They could also go
tobogganing on a hill. The
class left the school at 9:15
and returned at 3:15.
Accompanying the class
were Mr. Millson and Mr.
Riley. Everyone had an
enjoyable time.

Carmel Presbyterian elects new managers at congregational meeting

Congregational meeting
Rev. Fox of London con-
ducted the service in Carmel
Presbyterian Church on
Sunday. At 2 p.m., Rev. J.L.
Royal of Knox Presbyterian
Church Goderich was
chairman for the annual
meeting. Mrs. Robert Taylor
was secretary.
Rev. Royal opened the
meeting by reading the 1st
Psalm and leading in prayer.
Mr. Bert Thompson Clerk of
the Session reported for the
session and stated that Rev.
Verne Tozer of St. Marys is
the 'interm moderator. The
chairman of the Board of
managers Mr. Jim Love
reported for the board.
The treasurer's report was
given by Clarence Volland
and the choir report by Mrs.
Bertha MacGregor. The
Arnold Circle report was
adopted by Mrs. Al Hoggarth.
Mrs. -Harvey Hyde reported
for the W.M.S.; Mrs.
Clarence Volland for the
Cradle report and the Ladies'
-Aid. Cromhenex financial
report was presented by Jim
Love. The 1978 Budget was
discussed.
Three members were
elected for the Board of
Managers for three years:
John Baker, Bertha
MacGregor, Helen Thiel;
salary , and negotiations
committee, Mrs. Harvey
Hyde; clerk of, session Bert
Thompson; chairman of the
Board of Managers; trustees
Al Hoggarth, Bert Thompl'
son; auditors Mr. and Mrs.
Percy Campbell.
A vote of thanks was ex-
tended to the organists Miss
Brenda Pepper and Mrs.
Robert Taylor and Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Volland for
their services by Mrs. Agnes
Madge.
Socials
Mr. and Mrs. Gerrard
O'Rourke of Ottawa spent the
weekend with the latter's
parents, Mr.' and Mrs. Alex
Munn.
Mr. Edgar Munn, who has
been a patient in South Huron
Hospital for the past several
weeks, returned to his home.
on Saturday.
Mr. Cameron Henry of
London spent the weekend at
his home here.
Mr. Joe Ferguson returned
to his home after spending
several weeks with members
of his family.
Miss Dorothy Farquhar of
Toronto spent the weekend
with her mother Mrs. Emma
Farquhar and visited Mr. and
Mrs. Walter Spencer.
Unit I meets
Unit I of Hensall United
Church women held their
regular meeting on February
4th with Mrs. Harvey Keyes
presiding and opened with a
poem "Only the Good". She
gave a very thoughtful
devotional using as her theme
"Worry".
Mrs. Keyes led in prayer
which was followed by silent
prayer. "What a Friend We
Have in Jesus" was sung with
Mrs. Middleton ac-
companying at the piano.
Mrs. Christie gave the
highlights about Jamaica's
cultures, economy, tourism
and religions. The offering
was taken and dedicated by
Mrs. Keyes.
Business was conducted by
Mrs. Ken Elder as follows:

Hensall 1, 4-H
The first meeting of Hensall
1 4-H was held at the home of
Mrs. Gerstkorn. The club is
focused on "Living". The
main topic was "It's your
life". There were 11 gjrls in
attendance. The roll call was
"What does 4-H mean to
me?"
This was answered in
various ways by all 11 girls.
Following the election of
officers Mrs. Gerstkorn and
Mrs. Mellenger completed
the meeting.

several residents; Mrs. Ted

and Leslie Mitchell visited his
mother, Louise Mitchell.
The Kippen United Church
Women entertained the
Residents on Monday with
bingo. Mrs. Russell Erratt
and Helen Taylor visited
Russell Erratt. "Birthday
greetings" to Ernest Perry
who will celebrate his bir-
thday February 22nd.
UCW Chiselhurst
Following a morning of
quilting and a pot luck dinner
the UCW of Chiselhurst
United Church held their
February meeting with the
president, Mrs. Jack Brin-
tnell presiding.
Mrs. Ross Riley conducted
worship on "Meditation".
The roll call was answered by
14 members reading the 21E4
chapter of St. John verses 1-
19. Mrs. Harold Parker gave
an educational and in-
teresting talk on this chapter
of the Bible. Mrs. Ted
Stoneman gave a poem, "The
Month of Valentines."
The president, Mrs. Jack
Brintnell, gave an interesting
report of the Presbyterial
held in Mitchell. The meeting
closed with the Benediction
and Mrs. Rosa Harris was
hostess for the social hour.
Chlselhurst
annual meeting
The annual meeting of
Chiselhurst United Church
was held on Friday evening
following a congregational
supper and a sing -song.
Reports of the year were
discussed and accepted.

showed pictures taken during
the year of variola activities.,
