The Mustangs have a small ace in the hole, however, as they have one game in hand. The Cyclones on the other hand have an easier schedule remaining as they face the Hanover Barons twice and one each with Kincardine and Port Elgin. Each game becomes very important for the Mustangs as they have to win them to ensure themselves first place. In Jr. "' action last weekend the Mustangs travelled to Hanover Wed- nesday for an easy 6 - 2 vic- tory and hung on at home last Friday for a 5 - 4 win over Walkerton. Last Sunday in Listowel they were not as fortunate as they were beaten 5 - 3 by the Cyclones. In Hanover last Thursday, the Stangs received two goals by Neil Colquhoun and one each by Paul Preistap, Chris Cossitt, Tim MacLean, and Greg Butler to lead the attack on the BaiLons. Friday night's game in Clinton was a hard-fought battle as the Stangs hung on to edge Walkerton 5 - 4. Dean Ryan played well in the latter stage of the game, par- ticularly in the third period as the teams fought neck and neck up and down the ice. Tim MacLean, Paul • Helesic, and Pete Thompson scored for Clinton in the first period and Walkerton received goals from John Kelly and Glen Wendt. Each team scored twice in the second period as Paul Helesic and Tim MacLean each scored their second 01 the night. Jeff Hobley and Glen Wendt replied for the Black Hawks and the third period remained scoreless as Clinton squeaked out the victory. Sunday night's game in Listowel, however, turnedout to be a sore spot for the Stangs as the Cyclones narrowly edged out another victory over the Stangs. Each team scored once in the first period, with Bill Irwin not- ching the Clinton marker. The Cyclones scored twice in the second period as the Stangs failed to retaliate. In the third period the teams again each scored twice and the Mustangs goals were scored by John Graham and Steve Cook. Final score Listowel 5 - Clinton 3. This Friday night the. Kincardine Kinucks will be in town to battle the Stangs and on Sunday the Mustangs travel to Port Elgin for their final meeting with the Bears. Game time on Friday is 8:30 and on Sunday at 3:00. Support the Mustangs in their final week of regular season play and get tuned up for the play-offs, just around the corner.
