Skating news
It's back to the pleasures of
skating after one Saturday
morning "off" to allow for the
Bantam Hockey tournament.
The Clinton test day will be
Saturday, February 18. Tests
scheduled for the morning
will be preliminary and first
figures plus preliminary and
junior bronze dances.
Hopefully the higher tests will
be held in the afternoon. Test
chairman, Carol Fox is still
wrestling with the difficulty
of obtaining high test judges.
• We thank theminor hockey
association in advance for
relinquishing a few hours of
their Saturday afternoon ice
time.
Just what is test day?
Aren't we always testing
skaters for badges? Correct.
'the beginners and juniors
work on the National Skating
Test (NST) system and are
tested regularly by our
professionals or trained
amateur coaches.
Each full member of a club
is registered in the CFSA and
has a ,registered number
which he keeps for life. This
must be kept in safe keeping.
It is not of much use until the
skater reaches the CFSA test
system which begins with the
Dutch Waltz.
Children who are,
registered With the club on
$10 a week 10 week session
are not full members and are
not registered with CFSA.
After a skater has passed
all the NST badges, he begins
working on the CFSA tests.
From time to time, the club
holds CFSA test days. If your
child is ready to tryAa test his
name is entered on the
schedule. It is wise to take the
advice of the professional as
to whether your child is or is
not ready for a test.
There is a test fee which
must be paid before the
skater goes on the ice for the
test, The amount of the fee is
set by the .CFSA It' is for-
warded to CFSA, Ottawa by
the club.
Figure skaters have their
own "I.D." ' cards. Mem-
bership cards of CFSA w111 be
arriving shortly which show
the skater'l name, registered
number and home Club
number.

INTRODUCING...
A new addition to
our fireplace boutique
A new concept in
wood burning space heaters
using the downdraft principle.
THE
DOWNDRAFT
PRINCIPLE
The Carmor space heaters combine air tight con-
struction and downdraft principle to produce ex-
tremely efficient heaters. Warm air is^delivered
from qbove the heater through the downdraft
tubes to produce a "blow torch" effect in the
firebox. Two draft tube covers control air en-
tering the draft tubes. Rising combustible gases
are mixed with fresh oxygen to provide ex-
cellent combustion and minimal accumulation of
ash. The fire burns from the top down and thus
eliminates the need for a grate.
