Rev. McDonald's children
story was "the wind and the
sun". Junior 'teachers were
Bev. Riley, Marguerite Gross
and Judy Carter. Rev.
McDonalds message was
"the acceptable year". He
thanked the choir for sharing
their talents.
Card Party
There were ,five tables in
play at WI card party on
Friday night. Winners were:
ladies' high, Dora Shobbrook;
lone hands, Mary Clark; low,
Beth Knox; men's high, Bert
Shobbrook; lone.hands, Lloyd
Pipe; low, Ted Hunking;
birthday nearest to 13th,
Verna Glazier. There will be
another card party on
January 27th at 8:30 p.m. In
charge will be Ruth Vincent,
Florence Cartwright and Gay
Datema.
Remember the annual
congregational meeting ' will
be a pot luck dessert and
coffee time at 7:20 p.m., with
the business meeting
beginning at 8 p.m. on
Monday night January 23.

Ontario Agricultural College,
Guelph one of the areas of
study on January 5 ' was
"erosion - one of Ontarios
agricultural challenges"
during which Norman
Alexander gave a slide
presentation "Erosion as I
see it," A drainage com-
missioners viewpoint.

Jim Jamieson invited the
parents to present their child,
Heather Darlene, daughter of
Ray and Darlene Eckel to
Rev. McDonald for baptism.
The church organist,
Lousie McGregor, ac-
companied her husband
Glenn with the Clinton Legion
Pipe Band, who were part of
the Ontario Massed Legion
Pipes and Drums Band in the
Rose Bowl Parade on New
Year's Day in Pasadena,
California. They have been
touring the coast of California
and entertaining.

Mrs. Arnold Bruce was
admitted to Wingham
Hospital a week ago. Friends
hope she will soon be home
again.
The Hullett Township
Recreation Board have
started their winter sports
activities. Volleyball is held
on Wednesday nights from
7:30 to 8:30 for 13 to 18 year
olds and from 8:30 to) 10:30
p.m. for adults at the Hullett
Central School.
Shuffleboard for all adults
is on Wednesday nights at 8
p.m. in the hall. Regular
attendance is not necessary,
come if you can. Bring a
friend and enjoy yourself.

Middleton ACW discuss fund raising Projects

Morning Prayer was
cancelled at St. James
Anglican Church since the
Rector was ill. The
congregation wishes him a
speedy recovery.
ACW meets
The ACW of St. James met
for their January meeting at
the home of Lois Wise.
Audrey Middleton was the
leader in charge of the
meeting with Sarah Storey
assisting her.
Sarah Storey opened the
meeting with a reading and
Audrey. Middleton read the
Invocation. The ladies joined
in singing a hymn with Lois
Wise at the organ. Sarah
Storey read the scripture and
Audrey Middleton led in the
prayers.
Audrey Middleton
welcomed the ladies to the
January meeting and
thanked Lois Wise for
opening her home to the
meeting.
Sarah Storey gave the
secretary's report. Vera
Miller presented the annual
treasurer's rep -ort and the
monthly report. Blanche
Deeves gave her annual
social service report and
monthly report. Lois Smith
gave her report on the foster
child and passed a lovely
Christmas card to the group.
The new penny savers
group was announced and the
new, captains are Lois Smith
and Shirley Stor"v So get
working ladies and save your
pennies.
Lois Smith displayed her
crafts and explained to the
ladies how to do these crafts.
She is a very talented lady
and a very interesting time
was spent looking at her

Mrs. Gass passes
away
In Seaforth Community
Hospital on Thursday,
January 12, 1978 the former
'Norma L. Galbraith beloved
wife of G. Earl Gass of
Hensall passed away in her
47th year. Mother of Miss
Brenda Gass, Hensall and
daughter of Wilfred
Galbraith, Grand Valley, she
was predeceased by one son
and two daughters.
Also surviving are four
brothers Laverne Galbraith,
Shelburne; Earl Galbraith,
Walkerton, Herman
Galbraith, Shelburne,
Trueman Galbraith, Grand
Valley; Four sisters Mrs.
Norman (Beverley)
Trudgeon, Dundalk; Mrs.
Robert-(Lilla) Wade,
Palmerston; Mrs. Robert
(Audrey) Carr, Emsdale;
Mrs. Jack (Ada) Henderson,
Arthur and one grandchild.
Funeral service was held
from the Bonthron Funeral
Home, Hensall, Saturday,
January 14 with Rev. Bryce
Taylor, Guelph officiating.
Temporary entombment was
in Pioneer Memorial
Mausoleum, Seaforth. Burial
tater in Maitland Bank
Cemetery, Seaforth.

Mr. William Smale who
was receiving treatment in
South -Huron Hospital, Exeter
returned to his home last
week.
Mrs. Stewart Blackwell
returned to her home last
week following treatment in
St. Joseph's Hospital, Lon-
don.

discussed, so don't be sur-

interesting talk and Audrey
Middleton closed the meeting
with a prayer.
Lunch was served by Lois
Wise and assisted by Lois
Smith. A short social time
was enjoyed by all.
Take note - the annual
Vestry meeting will be held
on Thursday, January 19 at
the home of Don and Audrey
Middleton at 8 p.m., weather
permitting.
The. Goderich Township
Recreation Dance is on
January 21 at the White
Carnation. There are some
tickets still left.
Goderich Township's Gerry
Ginn is the new Warden of
Huron County.
Congratulations from all of

John, Deeves has returned
to the cold country after
visiting with the Clinton
Legion Band in Pasadena,
Tijuana, Las Vegas and
Disneyland. A very good time
was had by all present.
