HomeMy WebLinkAboutClinton News-Record, 1978-01-05, Page 134 • • Photo by Fitzgerald Cook -MacDonald Clinton couple wed Tall gold candelabras with white candles entwined with coral mums, white daisies and coral ribbon decorated St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Clinton for the, December 10 wedding of Debra Ann Cook of Clinton and Steven MacDonald of New Liskeard. Rev. John Oestreicher officiated at the double ring ceremony which featured Charles Merrill iti the organist. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cook, Clifton and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred MacDonald also of Clinton. For the occasion, the bride wore a crisp organza gown which featured an empire waist and billowy, bishop sleeves. The bodice and sleeves of. her dress were trimmed with seed pearls and knace. The bottom of her dress and chapel train were edged in narrow lace and her fingertip veil of silk illusion was held in place by a Juliette cap of lace and seed pearls.To complete her outfit, the bride carried a colonial nosegay of befit-id:la sweetheart, roses and white daisies, covered with baby's breath and a touch of silver. She also wore seed pearls on a gold chain and single pearl earrings. Maid of .honor, Nancy Falconer of Clinton wore a polyester silk knit gown. The bodice was covered in coral lace ,and her bolero jacket tied at the front and had short bell sleeves. The jacket and sleeves were trimmed with narrow coral lace. She wore flowers in her hair to match her nosegay of coral car- nations, white daisies and white baby's breath with a touch of silver decoration. The best man, Brian - Kennedy of Clinton; ushers, Stephen Cook and Bassi! O'Brien of Clinton and the • 40 • groom all wore chocolate brown tuxedos with coral boutonnieres. A reception followed at the Sandpiper Inn, Vanastra. To greet her guests, the bride's mother dressed in an emerald green, silk knit gown. The bodice was covered with tiny pin tucks and the dress featured long, fulf sleeves. To complete her outfit, the bride's mother wore silver accessories and a corsage of coral sweetheart roses and baby's breath. The groom's mother wore a floor -length brown skirt with a peach flowered blouse. She wore a corsage of yellow sweetheart roses and baby's breath. - The decorations at the reception included a three tiered cake, topped with flowers to match the bride's bouquet. Guests at the wedding were present from Iron Bridge, Sudbury, Stratford, Goderich, Seaforth, Court- wright and Clinton. The couple honeymooned to Niagara Falls before taking up residence in New Liskeard. Prior to her marriage, the bride was feted at several showers. Mrs. Lloyd Butler and.' A shower was held at the home of the bride's aunt, Mrs. Betty MacDoRald and was assisted by- the bride's cousins, Mrs. Cameron ' MacDonald and Mrs. Douglas MacDonald. Nancy Falconer en- tertained the bride's school chums at a shower in her home and Mrs. Russ Archer and Mrs. Dennis Jewitt -held a shower at the home, of Mrs. Archer. Elderly Hensall woman dies Mrs. Alda Simmons Mrs. Alda Ann (Dinsdale) Simmons passed away at the Bluewater Rest Home, Zurich on Friday December 30 in her ,92nd year. She was the wife of the late Frederick J. Simmons and mother of John Frederick Simmons, Hensall. Four granddaughters survive (Lois) Mrs. George GodbOlt, Exeter; (Joan) Mrs. Robert Middleton, Wingham ; Jacqueline Simmons, Brantford; Dale Simmons, Hei)sall. Four grandchildren also survive.. Four sisters predeceased her. ' Funeral service was held from the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hensall on Monday January 2 at 2 p.m. with Rev. Don Beck officiating. Interment followed at Hensall Union Cemetery. The Ladies' Legion Auxiliary held a memorial service at the Funeral Home on Sunday evening at 9 p.m. Pallbearers were Gordon T. Munn, Eldred Simmons, Don Joynt, Donald Munn, Robert Raeburn, Gordon Munn. Wife of the late Simon Sararus she is survived by two sons, Earl, Toronto and Ross Hensall: four daughters, Mrs Laur-a Hubbert, Toronto, Mrs. Jack (Greta) Reid, Missitsauga; Mrs. Edna -Caldwell, Exeter; Mrs. Doris Bonthron, London, A daughter Mrs. Rov (Clara) MacDonald predeceased 1976. Nineteen grandchildren and twenty- two great grandchildren 'also survive. Funeral service was held from the Bonthron Funeral Home, Hensall, Saturday, December 31 at 2 p.m. Rev. aon Beck officiated. *Burial followed in Emmanuel_ United Church, Cemetery, Zurich.
