The Seaforth Lions Club
visited Huronview on Sunday
afternoon, December 18, and
entertained with a musical
program.. Bob Spittal was
emcee for the program and
led a sing -a -long of Christmas
carols.
The Junior Choir of Nor-
thside United Church, led by
Mrs. Jack Mcllwain, sang
four numbers. There was a
vocal duet by Mrs. Jim* Collins played some oldtime
Stewart and Ruth Cluff and
step -dancing by Donna
McQuaid, Susan and Sandra
Hulley.
Gordon Rimmer brought
greetings from the ,Liens and
Reverend Father Laragh
gave a short address. Miss
Marion Gray thanked the
Seaforth Lions and the en-
tertainers on behalf of the
residents. Santa arrived and
had a treat of oranges and
grapes for each of the
residents.
The Clinton Public School
presented' part of their
Christina's program on
Tuesday afternoon. The
Junior Choir of Grades four,
five and six students sang
four numbers and presented a
play, "A' Charlie Brown
Christmas,`' directed by Rod
Culp.
The residents •thoroughly
enjoyed the program as the
Huron County Board of
Education austerity program
doesn't. allow for visits such
as this.
Miss Bertha Diehl thanked
the students on behalf of the
residents and each received a
small treat taken from the
profits of the Tuck Shop.
One of the special events of
the year, the residents'
Christmas . program and
supper, was held on Wed-
nesday afternoon. Wayne
Lester, assistant ad-
ministrator, was emcee for
the program. -
Taking part in the concert
were Helen Fischer, Luella
Cox. Nelson Lear, Cecil
Skinner and Josephine
Cunningham with vocal solos.
Myrtle Parker, Margaret
McQueen. and Elsie Hen-
derson played instrumentals.
Readings were by Bertha
Diehl, Eunice Lamb and
Grace Peck.
Betty Rodgers and Jake
Roorda of the staff assisted
with musical numbers. Molly
Cox, Norman Speir and Jerry
music numbers.
The 20 -member Rhythm
Band played several numbers
and as they played "Here
Comes Santa Claus",
everyone heard a shout and
Santa landed with a sack of
oranges and kissed a lot of
ladies he hadn't seen since
last year. The 200 residents
and guests enjoyed supper in
the main dining room.
The residents appreciated
two duet numbers by Cecil
Skinner and Nelson Lear and
Luella Cox and Elsie Hen-
derson at the Sunday morning
Chapel service, December 25.
The ladies of the Clinton
Christian Reformed Church
congregation visited the
residents in their rooms on
Tuesday afternoon and
presented them with lovely
Christian calendars.
On Family Night the
Clinton Christian Reformed
Church Choir, • led by Dick
Roorda, entertained with a
program of Christmas music.
Mrs. Van Dyke sang two solos
and the choir
numbers.
Mrs. Diane Bruinsma
accompanied the Choir and
soloist and Mrs. Elise' Hen-
derson accompanied for a
sing -a -long of Christmas
carols. Mrs. Valkenburg, a
member of the church, ex-
pressed the appreciation of
the residents.
Ed Stiles of Goderich
played an hour of organ
music in the chapel on
Thursday afternoon.

The residents of the James
Street senior citizens'
apartments wish to thank the
members of the Dutch
Reform Church Choir for a
lovely evening of carol
singing. It was thoroughly"
enjoyed.
On December.8, a delicious
pot luck dinner was enjoyed
by the residents. The lounge
was • decorated by a lighted
Christmas tree and Poin-
settias centered the tables.
Following the dinner cards
were played.

Young area girl dies suddenly
enjoyment of the Christmas
season when a very large and
yery beautiful plant, a
combination of red and white
poinsettias was received,
compliments of the Huron
County Housing Assoc.
It was placed in the foyer so
that all could enjoy its
beauty. Within a half hour of
being received, a sneak- thief
removed it from -the
building..
They would appreciate if
the person who witnessed its
removal would contact Mr. R.
MacKay.
Bowie -Forrest
Heather Colleen Bowie and
William Ross Forrest were
married in Londesboro
United Church on November
4, with Rev. Stan MacDonald
officiating. Danny Lear was
the soloist.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. David Bowie of
Londesboro and the groom is
the son of Mrs. Ross Forrest
and the late Ross J. Forrest of
RR 2 Kippen:
Lynn Bowie was the maid
of honour and bridesmaids
were Nancy Forrest and June
Machan. The best man was
Ken Nolan and' guests were
ushered by James Bowie and
Dale Bannerman. Dawn
Riley was the flower girl and
Timothy Brock was the
ringbearer.
The couple are residing at
RR 2, Kippen.
Local wheel 'n Dealers
welcome new year
The, Clinton Wheel 'n
Dealers Square Dance Club
held a gala Christmas dance
party on December 14 at the
Clinton Public School with
d ers from. Belgrave,
Lon•des .ore, Goderich,
Walton, Seaforth and Clinton
areas.
There were nine squares in
attendance and Santa Claus
was present to give everyone
a gift. Also., Glenn and Doris
Patterson and Ed and Ifpis
Wise received a gift from the
club. A scrumptious meal
topped off the evening.
A New Year's Eve party
was held at the Orange Hall in

borough was a guest at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. John
Broadfoot during the
Christmas holidays.
Due to the poor weather
December 8, the Tuckersmith
UCW Christmas party was
held on Sunday, December
Ilth with a good attendance.
Mrs. Edna Paterson and Mrs.
Grace Chapman were in
charge.
Mr. Douglas McBeath and
family of Windsor were
Christmas visitors with their
mother Mrs. J.W. McBeath.
Summerhill Ladies Club meets
Marion Colclough was the
hostess for the December 14
meeting of the Summerhill
Ladies Club.
Donna Gibbings opened the
meeting by leading in a sing
song of Christmas carols
which was followed by the
Creed and the Lord's Prayer.
Roll call was answered by 20
members telling where they
would spend Christmas.
Thank-yous were received
from, the Children's Aid
Society, Percy Gibbings, Ali
Westerhout and Sharon
Colclough. Donna Gibbings
reported that a good crbwd
attended the community
supper in November.
It was decided that cards
and flowers would be sent at
Christmas to shut-ins in the
community.
The next meeting is ' to be
held at the home of Lorna
Ellis on January 11 with the
roll call being answered by
each member telling where
she met her husband. Marion
Hensall United news
An old-fashioned Christmas
concert ; was held in the
Hensall United Church school
room on Wednesday,
December 21. Attendance and
participation was down as the
'flu bug is getting more
prevalent around Hensall. •
Numbers were given by
each of the graded classes
and the audience sang carols
between numbers. Naturally
Santa Claus arrived to end
the evening with treats for the
children.
Rev. Don Beck conducted
the annual Christmas Eve
Communion service of
Hensall United Church on
Saturday, December 24 with
a good attendance. The
communion meditation on "A
traditional sermon" showed
how- all the trappings of
modern times can be,
d9dicated , to the true
Christmas story.
The choir, under the
leadership of Mrs. John
Turkheim sang the anthem
"In the silence of the night"
with Mrs. Donna St. John
taking the solo. The Advent
candles . were replaced by
candles on the wreath with a
fifth, taller candle in the
centre, signifying purity and
Jesus as the Light of the
World, and the fifth candle
was lit by John Blackwell.
• On Christmas Dsty, mor-
ning, the usual morning
service .was conducted by
Rev. Don Beck, who preached
on the subject, "Filled 'with
Wonder". . Christmas is a
wonderful time. in all its
aspects.
The choir sang the anthem,
"Joy to the World" And
Shawn Cooper, son of Mr. and
Mrs. Donald McCurdy was'
presented for baptism.
Flowers.in the church were in
loving 'memory of Mrs. Jean
Ferguson, placed there by
her family.
Tamy Lynn Nott
Tamy Lynn Nott died in
Seaforth Hospital on Thur-
sday, December 29. She was
six years old.
Tamy is survived by her
parents, Beverly apd Linda
Nott and her brothers Dean
and Tommy. She is also
survived by her grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elgin
Nn,'' and Mr. and Mrs. Harold

A family funeral service
was held' on Saturday,
December 31 at the Whitney-
Ribey Funeral Home in
Seaforth with interment at
the Maitland Bank Cemetery.
Rev. Norman Pick of the
Ontario Street United Church
officiated.
Pallbearers were her un-
cles Glen Nott, Donald Nott,
Wallace. East and Harold
Bernard. Flowerbearers
were John Alblas, ' Brian.
Evans and Larry East.
Freda Arlene Glazier
Freda Arlene Glazier, 214
Harmony Road, Oshawa,
died in Oshawa General
Hospital on Wednesday,
December 28 after a lengthy
illness. She was in her 58th
year.
Mrs. Glacier was born in
Wingham on June 27, 1921 to
Walter and May (Young)
'Richardson. She was a
member of the Harttmony
nited Churth in Oshawa.
She was predeceased by
her father and her husband
Mervin and is survived by her
mo�iher and her sons, Eric
and Cameron, both of
Oshawa.

Mrs. Glazier is also sur-
vived by two sisters, Mrs.
Oscar _ (Ethel) Holmes,
Wingham and Mrs. Clarence
(Bertha) Stokes, Ingersoll
and a brother Wallace of
Wingham.
Mrs. Glazier's body rested
at the McIntosh Anderson
Funeral Home in Oshawa on
December 28 and 29 and then
was taken to the R.A. Currie
and Son Funeral Home,
Wingham where funeral
services were conducted on
Saturday, December 31. Rev.
Robert H. Armstrong was in,
charge. and interment
followed in the Clinton
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Ross
McCullough, Gordon Wall,
William Young, Ronald
Smyth, Elgin - Dale and
William Bromley.
George Young was the
flower bearer.
John A. Osbaldeston •
John A..Osbaldeston died at
his home in -Downsview on
December 14, 1977.
He was a son of the late
Audrey and Adelaide
Osbaldeston, and after ser-
ving in World War II joined
the Ontario Department of
Lands and Forests as a�
Photogrammetrist.
He is survived by his wife,
Betty and a brother Amos.
Brothers Walter and George
;predeceased him.
Burial will be in Clinton
Cemetery in the spring.
Thomas R.P. Stevens
Thomas R.P. Stevens, of
_Thomas
. Haven Park,
Goderich, formerly of
Hullett, died December 24. He
was 67.
Born in Willett Township,
he was the son of the Sate

Daniel Stevens and Jennie
Fairservice. He was educated
in Hullett and farmed
throughput his life. He retired
to Goderich in 1974.
Surviving are a sister,
Jean, Mrs. Harold Pethick of
Seaforth, and two brothers,
Ernest of Walton and Alvin of
Seaforth. He was
predeceased by . a sister
Annie, Mrs: Harvey Ashton of
Clinton..
Funeral services were held
from, the R.S.Box Funeral
Home in Seaforth. Rev.
Stanley McDonald officiated.
Pallbearers were Wesley
Roe, Watson Reid, Murray
Reid, Harry Rapson, John
McEwing, and Ernest Toll.
Flower bearers were Kenneth
Ashton, Keith Ashton, Lloyd
Ashton and John L. Taylor.
