Christmas coming and goings keeps the village busy Mr. and Mrs. Dave Overboe, Scott and Theresa, Londesboro; Mr. and Mrs. Jim Rowlett, Keith and Becky, Hamilton; and Mr. and Mrs. Le Roy de Jong, RR2 Bayfield were holiday guests with their family, Mr. and Mrs. Donald R. McLeod and John. Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Higgins spent from Saturday until Tuesday at Christmas tillhe with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Higgins, Colin and Scott in Port Dover. They were joined by their aunt, Mrs. G. M. Chesney of Toronto and Mrs. Eva Mason of Hamilton. Mrs. Jean Campbell was a Christmas Day guest of her daughter, Carol and George Simons and family in Goderich. Mrs. Lulu Smith spent Christmas with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ron Smith, Doug and Dave in Goderich. Mrs. Nina Haw was the Christmas Day guest of her brother and sister - and Mrs. Russel H Village.' Mrs; Peg Cleveland, Ohio is spending some time at her h Village. Several of our summer cottagers spent the holidays in the Village and it was,nice to see the lights in the homes , of Dr. Bill and Anne Tillman and family of London; Mr. and Mrs. Joe Beechie and family, London; Norm 'Brown, London; Chuck and Jane McFadden of . Toronto and Mr. and Mrs. Joe Laudenbach and family of Toronto. Mr. and Mrs. Ber' lard F. Sturgeon, Jeff and Rollie returned to their home in Orangeville after spending the holidays - at their village residence and visiting his family, Mr: and Mrs. Jack B. Mrs. Myrtle Pease and Irvine, London spent ,,the holidays at their home in the Village. Dr. Barry and Mrs. de Veber, George, Chris, Michelle, Gabrielle, Eileen and Barry, London °were guests for several days during the holiday at The Albion Hotel. Canon F. H. Paul spent Christmas with friends in Brantford. Mr. and Mrs. Rob Irwin and Robbie, London spent New Year's with his family, Mr. and Mrs. E. W. Erickson, Andrew, Luanne and Lydia. Mr. and Mrs. Ron Diemart, Brian and Karen St. Marys, visited Friday with his parents and brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Diemart, Richard and Wayne. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Earl were Christmas guests of their daughter, Mr. and Mrs. W. Winstone, Kim'and Joe in London and were joined by Mrs. W. Earl for dinner. Mrs. Gilbert Knight spent Christmas' with her family, Mr. and Mrs. Art Latimer and Christine in Weston and along with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Latimer also of Weston returned 'to Bayfield where they were New Year's guests of Mrs. Knight returning to their respective homes. Mrs. Jessie Blair and Miss Ethel Blair of Toronto spent three days with her daughter Brenda Blair in New York and then travelled on to Boston where they were the guests of her son-in-law and daughter and grandchildren, Lieut. Col. Dave and Mrs. Battye, Blair and Rene. On Tuesday, Misses Ethel and Brenda Blair returned to New York and "Blair Battye ac- companied his grandmother home to Bayfield where he is visiting for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wilkinson, St. Thomas were the guests of , her grand- mother, Mrs. Bertha Turner for a few days during holidays. Mr. Dick Heard returned to his home in Bayfield on Saturday after touring England for the past three weeks. He reported perfect ,weather and a most enjoyable holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Don Dinel, Tracey and Erin, London, Mr. and Mrs. Morris Sauve, Johnie and Jamie; Mrs. Jackie Johnston; -Ricky, Christine and Mark were New Year's guests of their mother,. Mrs. Maude Weston. • Mr. and Mrs. R., J. Larsen spent the past two and a half weeks with their son-in-law and daughter and family, Cpl. Stan and Betty Smith and Lisa; Mrs. Leanne Veysey and Chris of North Bay. Stan, Betty and Lisa returned to Bayfield with her parents on Monday and were overnight guests before returning to their home in North Bay on Tuesday. Mrs. Louige Reid, Mrs. Beulah Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Parker, Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Larson were New Year's dinner guests of their siker,' • Mrs. George Reid in Varna. We regret to report that Mrs. Elva Metcalf is confined to her home after suffering a broken knee. Best wishes are extended to her. Also to her mother, Mrs. David Dewar who is a patient in Clinton Hospital and to Mr. Frank Boyce who is also confined in Clinton Hospital.. Speedy recovery is sent out to them and to all the villagers who are confined in their homes with the 'flu, cold and the mumps. During the holidays, Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Brian and Celine Merrill motored to Bayfield to the home of his parents Mr, and Mrs. Ross Merrill on Friday evening after spending Christmas with Celine's parents and relatives in Carleton, Gaspe Peninsula. Sunday dinner guest$ with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Merrill were her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton Wiltse, Huron - view; Esther and Wayne Cantelon, RR4 Seaforth; and Brian and Celine Merrill of Ottawa; Dave, Barb, and Joanne Brown of Kitchener and Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Elliott and Don of Clinton. Gordon, Jose and Lana Merrill of New Westminster, B.C. spent Christmas and New Year's with Jose's parents and relatives in .Basseterre, St. Kits Island, West Indies, flying from Seattle Washington via Miami and Antigua. William M. and Mrs. Bennett enjoyed a family dinner with - 22 family members on Tuesday, December 27 in London at the home of their son Mr. and Mrs. Neil Bennett and family. Mrs. M. Ainslie (Willock) was not able to spend Christmas at home as she left to'take a post with Katimanik in Willcox, Saskatchewan. Mr. and Mrs. , Frank Squires were guests with Mr. and Mrs. J.R. The Rector chose not to preaclrra sermon, but rather. read "One Solitary Life" which had been presented to him by a young parish friend iust prior to the service. Morning prayer was celebrated in Trinity Anglican Church on Sunday morning (New Year's Day) with Rev. William . Ben- nett, the Rector officiating. Gordon Graham assisted by reading the lesson for the Octave Day of Christmas. The rector mentioned that it had been two years since his coming to Trinity and expressed his love and friendship to the congregation and said he had received a letter from Bishop William Townshend Bishop Townshend also said he expects to be in Trinity on March 26 as the preacher and to assist :n the celebration of thee Holy Eucharist on Easter Sunday morning, (providing the weathe°r is with us). The Rector also astted that all secretaries get their an- nual reports. to him as soon as possible so that 'he may prepare the reports for the Annual Vestry meeting on Monday, January 16 at 6 p.m, The meeting will be in the form of a pot luck supper with the ladies responsible for the arrangements.
