have busy month
December has been a very
busy month for the Odd -
fellows and Rebekahs in
Clinton.
At the card party on
December 1, high scorers
were Mrs. George Rumball
and Bob Taylor, while con-
solation prizes were awarded
to Mrs. Mary Dale and Percy
Gibbings. Mrs. Marjorie
Gliddon won the prize for the
most lone hands.
During lunch, three draws
were held and winners were
Mrs. Doug Cantelon, Mrs.
Grace White and Mrs. Cecil
Edgar.
The annual Christmas
party was originally
scheduled for Monday
December 5 following the
Rebekah's regular meeting.
However, both were con -
celled because of the blizzard
and the party was held the
next evening after the
Oddfellow's meeting and with
an attendance of over 70. It
was a resounding success.

Nelson were in charge of the
program, assisted by Vice
Grands Mrs. Cliff Ashton and
Mrs. Gordon Richardson.
A highlight of the evening
was a. travelogue presented Happy New Year.
by Mr. and Mrs. Norman
Trewartha of their trip to
Switzerland. Mrs. Phyllis Cox
presented a hilarious
monologue•and Elmer Trick
entertained with a piano
medley. A carol sing and a
visit from Santa Claus
rounded out a very enjoyable
evening.
An hour of fellowship and
visiting was spent during
lunch which was served by
the Rebekahs.
Another euchre party was
held on December 8 and
although it was a stormy
night there was an excellent
attendance. Winners were:
high lady, Mrs. Mary Grigg;
high man, Ed Godkill; low
lady, Mrs. George Wright;
low man, Harold Tyndall;
most lone hands, Mrs. Alex
McMichael.
Winners of the draw were
Mrs. Mary Grigg, Mrs. Doug
Cantelon, and Mrs. Marjorie
Gliddon.
The next card party will be
held on Thursday, January 5.
The next regular meeting for
the Rebekahs will be held on
Monday, January 2 and the

Kinsmen and Dinettes

The Clinton Kinsmen and
Kinettes held a joint
Christmas party last Tuesday
night, December 20 at the
Sandpiper Inn at Vanastra,
and gegan the night by first
singing Christmas carols at
Heather Gardens.
At an earlier executive
meeting, the club agreed to
donate $100 to the Junior "C"
hockey club, and learned that
final profits from the Kin-
smen night held recently
amounted to $2,950.74, ac-
cording to chairman Rick
Finch. All the money goes to
the minor sports program in
Clinton.
The club also learned that
they have so far put $43,000
into the new grandstand, and
that Paul Kerrigan has
agreed to be raceway
chairman next year.
Other members on the
raceway committee include
Tom Craig, Mel Hohner, Rob

agreed the 1977 bazaar was
very successful, and Mrs.
Elliott thanked everyone for
their help.
In 1978, Ont. St. United
Church will celebrate its
100th Anniversary. A com-
mittee has been appointed to
plan a Special Service or
event each month of the year.

met in the church parlor on
December 15 with an at-
tendance of 22 members;

and welcomed all and read a

treasurer's report given. The
penny or day money was
collected.
It was decided to send a
card to all absent members,
and Mrs. Hearn reported 27
home and 14 hospital calls
made for the month making a
total of 343 home and 145
hospital calls for the year.
Mrs. C.Stewart prepared the
program but Mrs. Rathwell
presided for the worship and
program. A hymn was sung
followed by prayer by Mrs.
Cummings.

Christmas meditation and
Mrs. J. McGregor read a
travelogue trip to the Holy
Land that Miss Helen Stewart
had been on earlier in the
year, This was very in-
teresting.
The meeting adjourned
with Mrs. Rathwell reading a
poem. A bountiful lunch

solos accompanied by Lorna
Radford on the piano,
choosing numbers —made
popular by three musicians
recently deceased, Elvis
Presley, Bing Crosby and
Guy Lombardo.
Rev. Stan McDonald of
Londesboro was the guest
speaker and gave a very
entertaining yet thought-
provoking talk on the subject
"Are you ready for Christ-
mas".
Warren Gibbings won the
door prize and the lovely quilt
made by the ladies of the club
was won by Mrs. Allan
Shaddick of Londesborp.
Nineteen tables of
progressive euchre were
played and the winners were
men's high, Joan Carter;
ladies!, high, Sadie Lovett;
men's low, Ed Johns, ladies'
low, Mary Grigg.
Everyone joined hands and
sang "Auld Lang Syne" to
end a very happy party.
