Holmesville church hears male choir, general store changes hands

Male Choir at Holmesville
The worship service at the
Holmesville United Church
was held in song by the men's
choir.
A basket of flowers was
placed in the church in
memory of Mr. and Mrs. Will
Yeo by the Yeo family. The
children went to their classes
after the second hymn was
sung.

held at 8:30 p.m, on Christ-
mas Eve. There will be no
service Christmas Day.
UCW Christmas meeting
Mrs. Rita Porter and Mrs.
Charlotte Norman's grodps
were in charge of the
meeting. They had a
Canadian friendship carol
service with candlelighting,
readings and carols from
other countries.
Taking part were Mrs.
Irene Cudmore, Mrs. Blake,
Mrs. Townshend and Mrs.
Potter. Mrs. Potter concluded
with a poem and readings
were given by Mrs. Ada
Tebbutt and Mrs. Isobel
Harris,
President, Mrs. Phyllis Cox
conducted the business
portion and roll call was
answered by a Christmas
thought. Arrangements were
made to send fruit bo-xes to
the shut-ins. A $25 donation
was made to •1ihe Children's
Aid Society and $50 was given
to the Goderich Nursing
Home. The, John Milton
Society for the . Blind was
given a $10 donation and
Missions and Services is to
receive.' $50.
Officers/for 1978 were also
elected, They are: president,

Deeves enjoyed a bountiful
anniversary at the Sandpiper
Inn. After the meal a surprise
visit was made to Jim and
Madeline Murray of Varna
where they all spent some
time remembering the past.
The community wishes to
welcome Ron and Karen
Tyndall and little Jennifer to
the area and hope their stay
will he . happy one. Happy
birthday to Jennifer, who was
four last Saturday.
Gilbert and Ann Brand and
family had a Christmas
dinner with Ann's mother,

The Holmesville 1 4-H club
attended the achievement
day on Saturday at Clinton.
The club put on their
demonstration and the name
of it was A Picture on a plate.
They portrayed this by
making an old English
fashion plum pudding and
also showed the finished
