The Lounge was also decorated with poinsettia plants, Christmas cards and ehristmas decorations and a lovely tree. Following sui per, Santa Claus (in the person of Reg York) arrived and distributed gifts to all present. Later in the evening, Euchre and Aggravation were played and enjoyed. On Saturday evening, the residents again gathered in the Lounge for another supper, followed by games and Christmas Music. Baptist Sunday School celebrates true Christmas The Christmas program of Bayfield Baptist Church Sunday School, Sunday morning, opened with singing carols by the congregation and prayer Ird by Doyle Cullen, the Sunday School Superintendent, followed by a play, "The True Meaning of Christmas". with Louanne Nicholson .as the mother, Mrs. Brown; Robbie Chap- mal.as her son and Jimmie NOTICE Please take notice that effective immedibtely Dr. Fred G. DEC. nth AND MEC- JANUARY 3 Speirs as the son's friend Jimmie. It was a true to life story of a boy who had never heard about the Virgin Birth of Jesus. Mrs. Brown explains to him about the Bible, then Kim Talbot and Susann Robson of the junior class recited the Books of the Old Testament of the Bible. The beginners' class sang "Away in a Manger" delightfully as only beginners can do! The primary and junior classes sang "Tell me the Stories of Jesus". Later in the play as Mrs, Brown is explaining to Village' notes Jimmie about Jesus and His life on earth, the Young Peoples class, with Joanne Chapman and Johanne Sturgeon playing their ukuleles, sang "Let us Break Bread Together on our Knees". Mrs. Brown tells how Jesus died on -.the cross for all our sins and that He rose again on the third day and then the congregation sang the well known and loved Easter Hymn, "He Arose". After she tells about Jesus going to Heavers, the very beautiful song "The Holy City" was sung by MiGs. Cathi Cullen After all the story is told Jimmie accepts Jesus as His Saviour, so he will be ready when Jesus conies to earth to claim His own and Mrs. Cathi Cullen and Mrs. Ann Chap- man sang "The King is Coming". The program closed with Jimmie saying "WOW! This year I'll really be able to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas." This program was well done and greatly enjoyed thanks to the Sunday School staff and Mrs. Muriel Snider at the piano and Mrs. Cathi Cullen playing the organ. The coming events for 'this week include - a sleigh ride, or wagon ride (depending on the weather), which is scheduled for Friday night, Dec. 23. with Christmas carolling. Everyone is invited to join in the fun, just be at the Baptist Church. at 6:45 p.m. There will be coffee, hot chocolate and light refresh- ments served at the par- sonage after the ride. Next Sunday, Christmas Day, Mr. Ivor Bodenham will be the guest speaker for both services. Mr. Bodenham is always very welcome as he is well-known and greatly loved by all in this area so bring your Christmas guests and enjoy this treat with us. Special music is being planned also. Baptist church news The regular church service followed the Sunday School concert with Mr. Graham Martin as guest speaker. He took his text from Brownies Bayfield Brownies met last Saturday morning in the Parish Hall and enjoyed a Christmas party. Tanya Grillmeyer read a poem entitled "The First Christ- mas". Trudy Bornath sang a Christmas number and Luanne and Lydia Erickson wrote and directed a playlet about an Indian Christmas and included some of the other Brownts. The Ladies Auxiliary donated bags of candy to the Brownies and lovely gifts to the leaders. The girls ex- changed gifts and made Santa Claus figures of foam and cotton batting with magnet backs to take home to their mothers. They all gathered and sang "Away in a Manger" and closed with "Taps." They all say thanks to the L.A. for the goodies and from the leaders for their lovely gifts. Cubs party... • from page 11 A lovely lunch was served by the Ladies Auxiliary and a gift presented to all the leaders. The boys exchanged gifts and all made a Christ- mas gift for their mothers from detergent bottles. They all say thanks to the L.A. for the bag of goodies and for the gifts. Ecclesia§tes, Chapter 3, his theme being "Laughter in the Bible". He explained some of the different kinds of laughter that are mentioned in the Bible. The Bible is God's holy word, we should pause and emphasize the Virgin Birth, which a great many of the people of the world today laugh at. The redeemed soul has a right to laugh with joy, his sins are forgiven and he is on his way to Heaven where Jesus promised He would go and prepare a place. He said - in all things give thanks, but laugh and be On New Year's Eve, December 31, at 8 p.m. there will be a Watch Night service, with a film "In His Steps" and carols and hymns will be shared. At ten o'clock there will be refreshments served in the Sunday School room, followed by a time of singing and testimonies and ending by praying the old year out and the new year in. happy so the other people around you can be impressed with your faith, for a vic- torious life can only be possible through .faith in Christ.
