United Church News
Communion service was
held on Sunday morning with
four members received by
transfer, - Ken Armstrong
from Stratford, Glen
McGregor from Brucefield,
Mr. and Mrs. Murray
Shepherd from Cheapside
and Scotland.
Greeters were Emerson
Heck and Harry Snell, and
the ushers were Diane
Bromley, Susan Jamieson,
Traci Mitchell and Sharon
Thompson. Service begin
with carol singing. The Moir
numbers were "Do you hear
what I hear?" and "what
Child is this" with Mrs. Allen
Shaddick choir leader and
Mrs. Glenn McGregor
organist, children's time was
"Christmas a joyful. time"
singing hymn twas in the
morn of winter time".
Junior congregation,
teachers were Karen Durnin,
June Fothergill and Jean
Kennedy. Rev. McDonald's
message was text John 1.4:1
Believe in God and believe
also in me "humility gate".
Sacrament was served.
Assisting Rev. McDonald was
Clara Riley and Nelson
McClure, Serving bread was
Nick Whyte, Madelyn
Sewers, Margaret Whyte and
Harry Snell, while serving
wine Jim Jamieson, Lorne
Hunking, Garnet Wright and
Gordon Shobbrook. The
flowers on the memorial
stand were placed in loving
memory of Jack Medd by his
family.
The Sunday School
assembly was held following
church service. There will be
no service next Sunday, as
the service will be Christmas
Eve at 8 p.m. A candlelight
service with the senior and
junior choirs as well as

special soloist, will be part of
the service.
WI Meets
The WI held family night
Christmas meeting on
December 14th,started with a
pot luck supper, opening with
"0 Canada" and WI grace
with Marjorie Duizer at the
piano. There were 40 who
enjoyed the supper. This was
followed by a short business
period with Opening Ode and
Mary Stewart Collect.
President Dora Shobbrook
welcomed all with a verse
"Christmas is Coming.
Roll call was answered by
17 members "what I want for
Christmas". The minutes of
the last meeting were read by
secretary -treasurer Marjorie
Anderson. It was moved to
donate $10.00 to the plowing
match draws, anq a thank
you was re eived from
Gladys Armstrong. • The
'';auditor's report was given by
Genevieve Allen.
Addie Hunking reported 21
shut in gifts ready to deliver,
and the president reported
bun baskets, electric knife
and ash trays bought and tea
pots on order.,Nona Pipe
reported the HItory of
Hullett Township" books are
on sale at $5 each. She was
thanked for her work on
compiling these books. The
next card party will be on
December 30.
Doreen Carter reported on
the ARC Industries, Dashood
open house held on December
15 and 16. The program was
supplied by members'
children: Stephen Duizer and
his mother played a piano
duet "Good King Wencelas";
followed - by a &trio Stephen,
Laurel and Lisa Duizer
singing "Secret of Christ-
mas" accompanied by their
mother on 'the piano solos
"Homecoming" nd
"Morning Has Broken".

Mary Lou Anderson sang a 11th having surgery on
solo "Santa Claus is coming 13th.

50 Year Pin
T. Wor. Bro. Jim Neilans
was to be presented from
Hullett Masonic Lodge No.
568 on December 13th with a
50 Year Pin, but being unable
to attend, Rt. Wor. Bro.
Claire Vincent, Vry. Wor.
Bro.' Bert Shobbrook and
Wor. Bros. Robt Thompson
and Harry Tebbutt presented
it to him on ,:Wednesday the
14th in the afternoon.
Berean Unit
The Berean Unit Christmas
meeting was held on
Tuesday, -December 13 with a
pot luck dinner with 10
members and Rev. McDonald
present. President Hattie
Wood conducted worship with
Christmas Scripture and the
meditation on scripture.
Rev. McDonald presented a
Christmas message. Mrs.
Wood closed the meeting with
a Christmas thought. Rev.
McDonald closed with
prayer.

clubs "featuring fruit" for
Auburn, Blyth and Lon-,
desboro was held in Blyth on
Saturday. Joan Mason of the
Londesboro club won County
Honours.
The family of Mr. and Mrs.
Allen Shaddick were all home

Hockey news
Hensall bantams played
twice during the last week,
first against Huron Park in
Vanastra, winning 4-3:. In the
first period Dave Consitt
scored the first goal, assisted
by Brad Stewart, while the
second period was scoreless
for Hensall.
The third period was ex
citing with Brad Stewart
scoring, assisted by Jeffrey
Rowe, Jeff Rowe scoring with
help from Brad Stewart and
finally Jeff Rowe scoring
unassisted.
Huron Park scored once in
each of the periods. •]eve
O'Neil scored, assisted by
Robert Miriderlien in the"
first; Randy Insley scored in
the second' period assisted by
Dennis Johnson making the.
score ' 2-1 in favour of Huron
Park and Richard Lather
scored unassisted in the third
period. Final score Hensall 4,
Huron Park 3.
On Thursday evening,
Hensall bantams played
Brussels in Brussels. Scoring
for Hensall were Jamie
McClinchey twice, assisted
by Paul Smale and David
Rowcliffe unassisted, but
Brussels outplayed them and
the final score was Brussels 7,
Hensall 3.
