Hensall seniors visit
Bluewater R estHorne

Dr. and Mrs. Robert Mickle
and Jamie, Cambridge, spent
last Saturday with the for-
mer's mother, Mrs. Laird
Mickle.
Thirty-two Senior Citizens
from Hensall were taken to
the Bluewater Rest Home on
Tuesday evening, December
19 to join with the residents
for their Christmas Party.
The outing was arranged by_
the Hensall and District
Kinettes who chartered a bus
for the occasion. Music was
provided by Mozart and his
Melody Makers, several
members of whom have
relatives among the
residents.
Among the door 'prize
winners were two from
Hensall, Mrs. Gertie Moir
and Mrs. Grace Chapman. To
finish off the evening the
ladies auxiliary served a,,
delicious Chri;turas lunch. '
Our thanks to- the Kinsmen
for this evening out.
Hensall Sales Barn figures
are not available for last
week; there will be no sale
this Thursday, December 22.

Hensall United holds 4th Advent

Seniors have party
The Three Links Hensall
Senior Citizens Club met on
Tuesday, December 13 at 6:30
p.m. for a pot luck Christmas
dinner' when 51 members
enjoyed a plentiful spread of
turkey and the trimmings.
During the business
following, invitations were
received from the Kinsmen to
go to the Bluewater Rest
Home on December 19. An
invitation from the Kippen
East Women's Institute to a
luncheon at the Legion Hall
on January 18. Information
about a two week bus trip to
Florida, organized by the
Clinton. Seniors, was also
received.
Entertainment on
saxaphone and piano 'was
given by Mr. and Mrs.
Murray Christie and on violin
and piano by Joe Bawden and
Mrs. Isabel Rogerson.
Murray and Marg Christie
also showed slides of a
Caribbean cruise they had
taken.
The program was arranged
by Mr. and Mrs. Alf Ross and
Mrs. Tom Brintnell and the
lunch -comm'ittee were Mr.,
and Mrs. Bert Horton and
Mrs. Clendon Christie.
Twenty members and
seven guests enjoyed a
demonstration of Christmas
decorations put on by Mrs.
Jean Durst of Seaforth at the
December meeting of the
Hensall Women's Institute
held in the Legion Hall on
December 14. Originality and
the use of many varying
materials gave all many
ideas how to brighten their
homes for Christmas and
make gifts for others. -
The business was con-
ducted by the president, Mrs.
Cecil Pepperand the
financial report showed a
balance of $133.39. A note of
appreciation from Eric
Luther re the , C.N.I.B.
campaign was given by Mrs.
Carl Payne and a letter from
the home economist was read
regarding the next 4-H
course, "Focus on Living".
Mrs. Nan Britton conducted
a sing -song of carols and
program conveners were
Mrs. William Rogerson and
Mrs. Gladys Colman.
Hostesses," Mrs. Rosa Harris
and Mrs, Annie Reid and,
their committee served an
excellent Christmas lunch. A
few antiques were shown
during the social hour.
At the end of the program,
Mrs. Eileen Rannie, . Mrs.
Winnie Skea and Mrs.
Elizabeth Alexander
presented the 4-H leaders
with gifts in appreciation of
,the work' they had done with
the girls.
Brenda Pepper displayed
her six certificates leading up
to obtaining Provincial
Honours and was given a gift
for bringing. this honour to
Hensall for the first time.

ducted by Rev. Don Beck.
Susan Flynn lit the fourth
Advent candle signifying Joy
and the Children's Choir,
under the direction of Mrs.
Pam Scotchmer sang three
numbers, "Mary had a
lamb", "Still, still, still" and
``Christmas candles".
In the place of a sermon,
Rev. Beck told a story in two '
parts illustrating the con-
ditions of children 100 years
ago and the efforts of
dedicated '.men to improve
their circumstances and the
circumstances of some
children of today, and today's
efforts to aid them.
Flowers in the sanctuary
were in memory of the late
Gordon Love donated by his
family'.' A Christmas Eve
Communion service will he
conducted on Saturday,
December 24 at 7:30 p.m. The
usual Sunday service will be
held on Christmas Day at 11
a.m.
On Sunday evening, the
congregations of both Hensall
and Chislehurst gathered in
the Hensall United Church for
a special carol service.
The senior choir, under the
leadership of Mrs. John
Turkheirn, sang two anthems,
"Noel, Noel" and "The
Promised One". For the carol
singing, duo.. projector
screens were set up on one of
which were the words of the
carols and the other showed

Hensali UCWhold Xmas meeting

The UCW of Chiselhur,t�
United Church met on
Tuesday afternoon with
members and visitors in
attendance. Mrs. Dorothy
Parker opened the meeting
with the, Invocation and
prayer. The scripture was
read by Mrs. T. Brintnell,
A reading entitled "A lowly
place to house the Saviour"
was given by Mrs. Dorothy
Parker. A ladies' quarettte
comprised Mrs. Dorothy
Brintnell, Mrs. Pearl Taylor,
Mrs. Dorothy Parker and
Mrs. Phyllis Parsons sang a
Christmas song,
Mrs. Dorothy Parker
welcomed the members and
visitors,and thanked
everyonfor their support
during the past two years
when she was president Re.
Don Beck was the guest
speaker and was introduced
and thanked by Mrs. Pepper.

Christmas' gifts for "Secret
Pals" and visitors was
followed by refreshments.

Communion Service
Rev. Fox of Huron College
conducted service in Carmel
Presbyterian Church on
Sunday and dispensed the
Holy Sacrament. Miss
Brenda Pepper presided at
the organ. The flowers were
placed in the church . in
memory •of the late Gordon
Love by his wife and family.
The service of Baptism will
be held at the service at 10
a.m. Sunday December 25th
when the congregation of
Caven Church, Exeter will be
worshipping here.
Gordon Love dies
Gordon Y. Love of Hensall
passed away in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London on Monday
December 12, 1977 in his 82nd
year.
Husband of Hazel (Elgie)
Love and Maude (Stelk)
predeceased. One son
Clarence Love, Edise
Alberta, and one daughter
Mrs. Robert (Ellen) Graham
(Port Alberni B.C. ) survive.
One daughter predeceased
him. Also surviving is one
brother Hugh Love,
Huronview and Mrs. Her-
trude Moir, Hensal and four
grandchildren. ..
Funeral service was held
from the Bortthron Funeral
Home, Hensall on Thursday
December 15 with Rev. Don
Beck officiating. Interment
was in Baird's Cemetery.
