A Christmas party for the
children of the Auburn
community .is being planned
by the Auburn and District
Lions Club to be 'held on
December 21 in the Auburn
Community Memorial hall at
7 p.m. There will be a
program of films for the
• children and bags of candy.
Santa is expected to make an
appearance. Volunteers
please contact Mrs. Brian
Hallam on the number of
children that are in this
community.
It was decided to hold the
Christmas party for the
children at the regular
meeting of the Auburn and
District Lions Club held last
Wednesday.
Lion Fred Lawrence
presided and the meeting was
commenced by a dinner
served by the members of the
Presbyterian Women's
Missionary Society.
Secretary Lion 'Bob Ke'-
chabaw read the minutes
which were adopted as read
on motion of Lion Fred
Lawrence and Lion Stephen
Campbell. Treasurer Lion
James Schneider gave the
financial statement. Profit
from the film night was $19
and from the dance, $476.
A New Year's Eve party is'
being planned. It is to be held
in the Auburn Community
Hall and tickets are being

It is hoped that many
residents of the community
will come out on Thursday
evening at 8 p.m. to the
planning of celebrations for
the 125th birthday of the
village of , Auburn. Please
offer your help on•some of the
committees. It is only
through you that this can be a
success.

Paul of Dublin and Mr. and
Mrs. John Stadelmann,
Christine, Rhonda and
Jennifer of RR2 Blyth.
Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Cartwright, David, Derrick
and Lorie visited last Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. James
Cartwright and Paul of R.R.1
Blyth.
The community is pleased
to report that Master Scott
Arthur was able to come
home after a couple of weeks
as a patient in Sick Children's
Hospital in London.
Mrs. Mary Rollinson in in
Toronto visiting with her
daughter, Mrs. Alfred Weston
and Mr. Weston.
Prize winners at the weekly
euchre party were: novelty -
printed and are available
with only advance tickets
being accepted. As no band is
available, other en-
tertainment is being
arranged.
The 8 Londesboro Lions
Club members delivered
Martha (a banty hen) which
is to be transferred from club
to club during the year,
The meeting was closed on
motion of Lron Tom Cun-
ningham and Lion Greg
Arthur. A social time was
'"`-enjoyed with a game of cards.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Craig
attended the 40th anniversary
party for Mr. and Mrs. Mel
Mathers at the Legion Hall in
Wingham recently. They
were also dinner guests with
Mr. and Mrs. Mathers in
Wingham last Sunday.
Mrs. Gordon Powell visited
last week with Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne Powell at St.
Catharines.
Advent services held in Londesboro United

United Church
Advent Sunday Service was
held last week, with Gordon
Shobbrook welcoming those
into the Narthex. Ushers
were Kevin Hulley, Robert
Hunking, Mark Mitchell and
Ken Pollard.
The service began with
0 carol singing by the
children's choir under the
direction of Barbara Bosman
and Marjorie Duizer with
Louise McGregor at the
organ.
Bibles were presented by
Rev. MacDonald from the
session to the eight -year-olds;
Stephen Duizer, , Darlene
Hulley; Troy Hoggart, Cheryl
Hulley, Sandra Merner, Andy
Riley, Mark Stackhouse,
Robbie Vincent, Brad
Westerhout, David
Westerhout and, Kimberley
Wright.
The junior congregation
teachers were Carol Cart-
wright and Jean Kennedy.
The flowers on the
memorium stand were placed
in loving memory of Lorne
Hulley, by Ken and Betty
Hully.
Personals
Cancellations were the
order of the day last week.
Congratulations to Mr. and
Mrs. Arnold Burns, nee Mrs.
Ora Riley who were married
in the Londesboro Church on
Saturday evening, December
10.
Mrs. Arie Duizer returned
home on Saturday after
4 spending three and one half
weeks in Clinton Hospital.
Mr, and Mrs. Bill Shaddick
returned home on Sunday
morning after they won a
week's trip as guests of the
John Deere Company to the
Curaco Islands.
Mrs. Joe Shaddick spent
the week with her grand-
children„ Julie and Richard
Jr.
Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen
entertained their employees
to a dinner and dance at the
White Carnation in
Holmesville on Saturday
night with 31 present.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lee held
Christmas for their family on
Saturday, December 10.
Present were Dr. and Mrs.
Gary Hall, Stouffille; Mr. and
Mrs. Stewart Mustard, and
Sheldon, Stratford;. Mr. and
Mrs. David Lee, Jason and
Christopher,,Blyth.
Miss Lloy Shaddick of
' Kitchener spent the weekend
with her parents Mr. and
Mrs. Allen Shaddick.
Brucefield starts Xmas festivities

The Brucefield United
Church UCW held their
general meeting for the
month on December,6 after a
wonderful pot luck dinner
was served by Unit III.
The tneeting was opened
with the singing of a carol
with Mrs. Pearl McBeath at
the piano., This was followed
by prayer led by Mrs. D.
McGregor, who with Mrs. M.
Falconer, presided over the
meeting.
Mrs. McGregor read the
scripture, and Mrs. Falconer
gave a Christmas Message
which was most interesting
and meaningful.
Mrs. Bob Walters the
retiring president presided
over the business portion of
the meeting.. Mrs. C.
Anderson gave the
secretary's report and Mrs.
John Henderson reported for
the treasurer.
Boxes for the shut-ins were
packed on December 7.
White Gift Service
Members of the
congregation and Sunday
School gathered on Sunday
morning in Brucefield United
Church to take part in the
annual White Gift Service.
The Rev. E.S. Stephens led
in the Worship Service. Mr.
Ron Taylor was the Narrator
while Mr. David Townsend
and Miss Joyce Walters were
the story tellers.
The senior choir sang the
J.S. Baach Carol entitled, "0
Little One Sweet." The junior
choir sang the carol, "0
Come litfle.children."
Boys and girls from the
choir and the congregation
came forward at the
designated time to present
their White Gifts. Mr. John
Moffat and Mr. Arnold Taylor
were the ushers who received
the offering.
Mrs. Barbara Livermore
presided at the Organ and at
the piano fo'r the music of
Advent. Mrs. Barbara Moffat
led the junior choir, while
Mrs. Livermore led the senior
choir.

Trinity Christmas pageant
will be held on Christmas Eve
at 8 p.m.
