program will be in charge of
Mrs. Beth Lansing and Mrs.
Oliver Anderson. A gift ex-
change (value $1) will be
held.
We are pleased to report
that Master Scott Arthur, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Arthur
is improving in Sick
Children's Hospital, London
and will soon be able to return
home.
The 4-H Achievement Day
is being held in Blyth on
Saturday, December 10. All
parents and friends are in-
vited to atten& the afternoon
session.
Mrs. Bert Taylor received
word that her sister Mrs.
M.H. Martin of Goderich had
fallen and fractured her hip
and taken by ambulance to
Alexandra and Marine
General . Hospital, Goderich.
Last Friday she was taken by
ambulance to Guelph
Hospital where she will be
near her son Donald and his
family.
Mrs. Elmer Trommer
visited last Wednesday with
her sister Miss Lily Odbert in
Stratford.
Mrs. Mary Rollinson was
able to return home last
Saturday after being a
A patient in Clinton Public
Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Alfred
Weston .f Toronto spent the
weekend with her mother and
brother Mr. Murray
Rollinson.

Anniversary
celebrations
discussed
Fred Lawrence, president
of the Lions Club presided for
/the second meeting of the
interested citizens that would
like to celebrate the 125th
anniversary of the founding
of the Village of Manchester,
now Auburn, in 1979.
Dates were discussed and
Mr. Lawrence is to inquire
when neighbouring towns
would be holding celebrations
in the summer of 1979.
Program and sport events
were discussed and com-
mittees were drawn up for
such event and if any one
would like to help would you
please let Mrs.- Eleanor
Bradnock know by the next
meeting set for December 15.
The committees - set up
awaiting volunteer names
were as follows; invitations,
historical displays, sports,
program, parade, finance,
grounds, refreshments,
welcoming, decdrating,
parking and registration.
Some names' were suggested
at the meeting and many
more are wished to come
forth especially the young
folk and teenagers. It is hoped
that there will be something
for everyone so it is hoped
that a good attendance will be
held on December 15 at 8 p.m.
in the Community Memorial
Hall'.

Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Craig
were guests on Saturday
evening at the 40th wedding
anniversary of Mr. and Mrs.
Mel Mathers in Wingham
Legion. Hall. On Sunday they
werluests of Mr. and Mrs.
Math for dinner.
Walkerburn Club
The Walkerburn club held
their November meeting at
the home of Mrs. Marian
Hunking. The co -president,
Mrs. Lloyd McClinchey was
in charge and opened the
meeting with a reading. Mrs.
Leonard Archambault led in
prayer.
The minutes were read by
the secretary Mrs. Thomas
Cunningham these were
seconded by Mrs. Roy Daer.
The roll call was answered by
giving a donation for the
support of the Korean foster
child. The financial
•statement was given by Mrs.
Garth McClinchey.
The prize was won by Mrs.
Elva Straughan, this has been
• donated by Mrs. Roy Daer.
Mrs. Garth McClinchey of-
fered to send Christmas cards
to former members of the
club.
Plans were made for the
January meeting to be held at
the home of 'Mrs. Lloyd
Penfound. The program will
be in charge of Mrs. Roy Daer
and Mrs. Marian Hunking.
The lunch will be in charge of
Mrs. Carmen Gross and Mrs.
Joe Verwey.
Mrs. James Scheneider
introduced the guest speaker,
Mrs. Thomas Jardin of
Auburn. She spoke on the
origin of candles and told

and sometimes entertaining talk on his trip to Russia at the
Clinton Town Banquet last Saturday night at the Legion.

Manpower begins job training program-
Canada
Manpower Centre
Manager, Ben Hey, recently
announced the introduction of
the Job Experience Training
Program. The program is
designed to help young people
begin their employment
careers and assist employers
with the cost of hiring new
employees.
The program matches
selected participants, as
identified by the local Canada
Manpower Centre, with in-
terested employers for the,
purpose of employment.
Participating employers will
be subsidized for a maximum.
of 26 weeks with all
agreements ending no later
than May 31, 1978. During the
period of training, the em-
ployer' receives 50 per cent of
the hourly rate to a ceiling of
$1.50 an hour per trainee to a
maximum of –$.1.,560 per
agreement.
To assist in delivering the
program in the Huron County
area, Mr. Russell Shaw has
been hired as selection and
referral officer. Mr. Shaw's
past experience includes:
nine months as plant
manager at Sheaffer Baton in
Goderich; five years as plant
manager Marlette Homes,'
Stratford; five years as
general manager, Lynshaw
Glass Ltd., Brantford; and
six years as a salesman,
Canadian Pittsburgh
Industries, Brantford.
